Delhi University: Students' Opinion

AI-Generated Summary based on 156 Reviews

Admission to the Department of Modern Indian Literature and Literary Studies is available through an entrance exam or direct admission if applicants meet the required B.A. cut-off percentage. The faculty is highly qualified, with many holding advanced degrees, enhancing the teaching quality. Faculty-to-student ratios vary from 15:1 to 60:1, allowing personalized attention, though issues like partiality and class cancellations occur. Despite challenges such as minimal COVID-19 interaction and some administrative inefficiencies, the faculty is dedicated.

Exams are held twice a year, with a focus on internal assessments and practicals. The two-year course fee is approximately INR 10,000, payable in instalments, covering all costs. Placement and internship systems are structured, with companies like Infosys, Wipro, and Amazon recruiting. Placement effectiveness varies, with rates between 60%-80% and salary packages ranging from 5.9 to 6 LPA, with the highest being 28-29 LPA. Placements favor BCom and Economics honors over Arts.

Internships offer stipends from 5,000 to 40,000 INR. Tuition fees range from INR 7,000 to INR 22,000 based on the program, with fee concessions and scholarships available for eligible students. The placement cell, although limited in campus jobs, provides job and internship opportunities. Students are encouraged to enhance employability through internships and extracurriculars.

Miranda house is actually a really good college in academics, infrastructure and availing other facilities, it provides a safe environment as well. The course i am doing - English Honours, is in fact one of the most renowned courses of the college and the faculty is really understanding and well experienced, they help you not only with academics but with personal life issues and mental health issues as well. We are total of 100-105 students divided in 2 sections, and both section are divided in half and are provided with mentors, who are always ready to help us. The fees we paid for the first year was 15,500 which included admission fees as well, but in the second year it reduced upto 13,600 which is really fair compared to the facilities and quality of education and the standard of degree - ba hons in english. Students here are also very helpful and compatible, good facilities for specially abled children and easily accessible admin. Overall, very open and inclusive environment, green environment and affordable with good facilities.
