A good and honest review of Du Sol

Students view on course curriculum

I want to do CFA after Bachelor's and according to the study material of CFA and my understanding the curriculum is pretty well and I has an understanding and relevant views throughout it. The exams always comes in 6 mothes so like 2 semesters exam in a year so it's pretty good according to me.

Placement scenario of the campus, average and highest package being offered

In the end of 4th sem the students become eligible for campus placement but the placement are not worth it if you ask me. But yeah if you are lucky you can get a highest and the best package of rs6,00,000/- annually and that's also rear and the average package of 2,50,000/- - 3,00,000/-. I planned to do CFA and become an asset manager in Dubai in highest ranking banks.

Fees of the course per year

I took admission in Du Sol this year and my programme is b.com and the total fee I paid was Rs8970/- yearly including the study material and tution fee. My friend opted for bba in digital marketing in Du Sol and paid the fee of Rs9200/-. The fee structure of Du Sol has increased compared to last year.

Sports activity in the college

There is no specific annual or technical festivals but there is some freshers parties once every month. There is no library we only have the study material they provided and that's all we have to study. There is also no extracurricular activities but sometimes we can have some sports event and competition of cricket, TT etc.

Students view on faculties

The faculty to students ratio is around 2:6. The relationship between faculty and students are like average both are not interested in each other and doing formalities only. I don't really like faculties that much but they are ok with me so that's it and neither I like them nor hate them so it's average overall, there are 7 exams in my semester and they are not so difficult they are just so so exams, almost all the students can clear the exams.

Admission

Actually it was my one and only plan to enter in this university because I want to become a CFA and the eligibility to do it is being in the 3rd year of Bachelor's and an undergraduate. And also the the subjects are similar to what in CFA has so I choose b.com. so there is no specific reason behind why I choose this university.

Night Life

There is no specific market etc but there is some small stalls of fast food or drinking places. The timings of the campus is 8:00am - 5:00pm. There is a famous flee market called sarojini that's like too good fashion, food, entertainment etc. but the area is not that safe in dark to be honest.

I did choose DU SOL over other colleges that i applied because DU SOL provides felxibity. Student's only have to go to exam and practicals. In other colleges you have to attend 5 days every week. Well at first I wanted to go other college but Cuet exam doesn't provide B.tech colleges in delhi. Admission process of my college is simple. You just have to register your self for the course and if your name comes under merit then you have to pay the fee and your admission is done. I applied for Cluster Innovation Centre (CIC) college for Btech course. But due to less seats i didn't get and I also applied for Jamia milia islamia and i got a seat for Ba with computer application but the college was far from my home so i didn't go. Yes, I got rejected from CIC college because of less seats and less marks in cuet as compared to others. Admission process of my college: You just have to register yourself and pay fees and then you gets admission but some courses like mine BA with computer application is merit based and eligibility is only 12th class. There is no cutoff and overall admission experience was easy.

DU SOL: 6 Answered Questions

Is DU SOL good?

Sakshi Gupta
Rima Das,studied at School of Open Learning, University of Delhi (2017)

One of my friends graduated from DU SOL. According to him there are certain things you learn which will be beneficial for your career ahead.

  • The important thing is you can get your degree as well as prepare for any competitive exam simultaneously.
  • If you need extra lessons, weekend classes are conducted.
  • You can also go through King Champion Guides and the last 10 years because it is the best to score good marks.
  • CA, CS or CMA with Delhi university B.Com (H) degree will provide you a respectable job and also other similar opportunities.
  • They have one of the best alumni networks.

It is suggested that you go for DU SOL only if it's your remaining option. Because some reviews of the placements are not that good, also if you want to prepare for UPSC, do it without getting involved in a college schedule. Though the time is flexible, ultimately it is your choice.

Can I do DU SOL to DU regular?

Keshav SinghB.Com in B.Com, School of Open Learning, University of Delhi (Graduated 2018)

You can transfer to DU Regular college from DU SOL, in the same course. However, there are a few key requirements to meet in order to be admitted to DU regular classes. You could get some advice from the following guidance:

  • If you perform exceptionally well in your first semester at DU SOL since DU exclusively accepts students who excel in their academic fields.
  • You must deliver all of the paperwork promptly.
  • For entrance-based examination procedures, you might be required to verify the terms of admission to DU normal institutions to determine whether or not an entrance exam is necessary.
  • Provide all the necessary documentation along with proof.

It is a fact that nothing is exceptionally unique about regular college; hard work is the only way to succeed. You can pour yourself completely into making the most of your SOL year by learning something new and professional that will open doors for you in the future.

What is the procedure for the improvement exam in Sol DU for a BA h first year?

Chandra Mouli RoyB.Sc (H) Computer Science Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies,University of Delhi (2021)

Since my brother is a student of the School of Open Learning (University of Delhi), he was able to offer better insight on the topic. Here is what he had to say about the improvement rule mandated by the institute.

  1. The only exam you are permitted to improve is the last one that you appeared for. For example, let’s say that you appeared for the B.A 2nd-year examination then it is possible to only improve it once later on. While it is not possible to implement the improvement rule on the exam, like B.A 1st-year, that you appeared in the previous year.
  2. Now, it does not necessarily matter if your score either increases or decreases because whatever you score is going to be the ultimate score you receive. The marks that you retrieve will be final and you will have to surrender the previous score when you apply for the improvement exam.

So, if you want to opt for an improvement, you need to fill the UnderTaking form. Attach your original mark sheet with the form. In case you didn’t get the original mark sheet, you can contact SOL.
