Ques. Is 7.5 CGPA good for IIM?
Ans. A 7.5 CGPA is moderate, which is not an excellent score for the top IIMs, which will require a very strong CAT score.
While 7.5 CGPA meets the minimum eligibility for most IIMs, which requires 50-60%. For the older BLACKI IIMs, a CGPA of 8 or above is required, which is more competitive.
Ques. Which is the easiest IIM to get into?
Ans. The newer and baby IIMs like IIM Sirmaur, IIM Jammu, IIM Bodh Gaya, and IIM Sambalpur are generally considered easier to get into compared to older ones, as they require lower cutoffs around 90-92 percentile and smaller applicant pools.
Ques. Is 70 a good score in CAT?
Ans. A 70 raw score in the CAT exam generally translates to around the 80–85 percentile. While it is not sufficient for top IIMs, this score may get you into the private B-schools, and other reputed institutes like TAPMI, BIMTECH, or NIRMA University.
Ques. Which state has 2 IIMs?
Ans. Maharashtra is the only state with two IIMs, which are located in Mumbai and Nagpur.
- IIM Mumbai: The IIM Mumbai, formally known as NITIE – National Institute of Industrial Engineering it was established in 1963, and in August 2023, it became IIM Mumbai.

For admission to the best MBA colleges in India, a high entrance-exam percentile is very important in CAT. Top IIMs like Ahmedabad, Bangalore, and Calcutta require 95-99+ percentile, while good Tier-1 colleges such as FMS Delhi, IITs, and SPJIMR prefer 90-98 percentile, depending on category. The admission process includes CAT/GMAT score evaluation, followed by WAT/GD/PI rounds, academic record assessment, work-experience points, and overall profile review.
Scoring 90 percentile in CAT for IIFT Delhi needs focused preparation, smart strategy, and disciplined practice. Start with building strong basics in Quant, DILR, and VARC through NCERTs, editorials, and daily problem-solving. Practice 2-3 VARC RCs daily, solve DILR sets with time limits, and revise important Quant chapters. Take full mock tests weekly, analyse your mistakes, and improve accuracy rather than speed alone. Follow a fixed study timetable for at least 4-6 months to reach 90 percentile.
