CAT 2024 Document Upload Guidelines are provided by IIM Calcutta in the detailed information released on July 28 on the official website. According to the guidelines, the photo and signature copy to be uploaded in the CAT 2024 Registration form should be in JPEG format and must not exceed 1MB. Any photo uploaded that is not taken with a clear background, or does not have the eyes, nose and ears properly visible is liable to rejection.
- The photo you wish to upload should measure 35mm X 45mm, with resolution 1200 X 1200 pixels.
- Photo size should not exceed 1MB.
- Signature to be uploaded should be done with black link on white paper.
- Scanned copy of the signature must not exceed 80kb.
- All files uploaded shpuld be in JPG/JPEG format only.
Candidates are advised to go through the specifications provided by the authority to upload signature and photograph in CAT 2024 application form. Changes can be made using the CAT 2024 Form correction window that will be open from September 27 to 30 (5:00 PM) for the registered candidates. However, the correction window permites making changes only to your photo and signature, i.e. candidates cannot re-upload the category/ PwD certificate PDFs submitted during registration.

Dos and Don’ts for Uploading CAT 2024 Photograph
Candidates are requested to consider the following Do’s and Don’ts regarding the uploading process, for smooth completion of the application form:
Dos with CAT Photograph
- Candidate’s photograph must be a recent one i.e. should not be more than six months old.
- The background of the photograph should be white.
- The eyes of the candidate must be open.
- Candidates must be facing forward to the camera and their face should be clearly visible.
- Eyes, nose, and hair of candidates must be visible in the photograph. Therefore, candidates need to look straight into the camera.
- The shoulders of candidates should also be visible.
- Photo must be clicked at a studio by a professional photographer.

Don’ts with CAT Photograph
- Candidates must not upload pictures that have a landscape background.
- The photo that is uploaded in rotated will lead to the cancellation of the application form.
- Also, such photographs will not be accepted where candidates are facing some other direction.
- If the eyes of candidates are closed in the photograph, it will not be accepted by the conducting authority.
- Self-taken photographs or selfies should not be uploaded in the application form.
- Photo taken from low-quality gadgets is not acceptable.
- Facebook pictures are also not acceptable.
- Candidates should not edit their photographs. Adding filters or editing the photograph will result in the cancellation of the application form.
- Candidates must avoid dark backgrounds at all costs.
- In the photograph, shadows should not fall on the face of candidates.
- If the distinctive features of candidates are unclear in the photograph, it will be rejected by the conducting authority.

Apart from uploading the scanned image of their photograph, candidates also need to upload the scanned image of their signature while filling CAT Application Form. Here too, candidates need to follow the given specifications to complete the application process successfully. Keeping the technical difficulties in concern will help candidates to successfully upload the scanned image of their signature. Also, make sure the signature uploaded is done with a black pen on white paper.
Candidates must ensure that it is their signature and not someone else’s. If the signature on the answer sheet does not match the signature of the candidate in the application form, he/she will be disqualified to appear at CAT 2024.

How to Upload Photograph and Signature for CAT 2024?
The step-wise process to upload photograph and signature for CAT 2024 is as follows:
- Visit the official website of CAT
- Login to the website using your registration number and password.
- The application form will be visible. Fill in all the details.
- After entering your personal, academic, and professional details, you will proceed to the process of uploading your photograph and signature. You will find two separate links for uploading your signature and photograph.
- Click on the respective links and browse the location where the scanned images have been saved.
- Select the file and click on the upload button.
Instructions for Scanning CAT Photograph & Signature
Candidates should note down certain technical directions mentioned below for scanning their photographs and signature properly.
- The scanner resolution must be set to a minimum of 200 dpi (dots per inch).
- Set Color settings to True Color.
- File Size must be as specified in the instructions.
- Crop the image in the scanner to the edge of the photograph/signature, then use the upload editor to crop the image to the final size (as specified).
- The image file should be in either JPG or JPEG format. Candidates using MS Office can obtain photo and signature in .jpeg format not exceeding 80 KB by using MS Paint or MS Office Picture Manager.
- The scanned image of photograph and signature can be saved in .jpg format by using 'Save As' option in the File menu and size can be reduced below the required size by using crop and then resize option [Please see points mentioned above for the pixel size] in the 'Image' menu. Similar options are available in other photo editors also.
- If the file size and format are not as prescribed, an error message will be displayed. While filling in the Online Application Form the candidate will be provided with a link to upload his photograph and signature.
When uploading documents during the CAT Registration process, it is of utmost importance to follow all the guidelines carefully, especially concerning photo and signature. Your signature and photo appearing on the CAT 2024 Admit card will be verified at the exam center, interview, and during admission. Any discrepancy noted can lead to the cancellation of your registration.

Ques. Can I upload the same photo in CAT 2024 application form that I used in 2023?
Ans. According to the CAT 2024 documents upload guidelines, your are required to upload a recent passport-size photograph in JPEG/JPG format only. Uploading any photo that is more than 6 months old can lead to rejection of your registration, and you can also be barred from taking the exam.
Ques. Is it mandatory to mention the date on the photo uploaded on the CAT form?
Ans. As of the information released by IIM Calcutta, the organizing body for CAT 2024; there is no mention of providing the date on your photograph. However, you can always upload a photograph in the size and format required along with the date on which it was taken printed on the photo.
Ques. Will I be stopped from taking the CAT exam if the photo affixed on my admit card is not on white background?
Ans. The photo uploaded during CAT registration and affixed on the admit card must have white background. Uploading photo that does not meet the requirements provided in the registration guidelines can have a negative impact on your chances of appearing for the exam.
