Honestly the faculty is kind of a mixed spectrum. Some teachers are genuinely invested and passionate, especially the ones who have been teaching their for many years now. Like Seema Mathur maam, Kanchan maam. They encourage questions, discussions, and occasionally push you to form your own interpretations rather than just memorizing notes. Mentorship is available, but it’s rarely handed to you; you have to reach out, initiate conversations, and show interest if you want guidance beyond the classroom. The course structure follows the Delhi University framework. British literature, Indian writing, postcolonial texts, literary criticism, and more including electives and skill enchancement courses (just for the namesake). We have internal assessments and end semester exams. The marking can feel slightly subjective at times especially in a subject like English. If your arguments are clear and well-supported, you’re generally on safe ground.

Faculty:

The faculty members ibn my college are supportive and knowledgable. Most of them ahve good subject knowldge and are approachable when we have doubts. The faculty to student ratio is decent,so it is not vey difficult to interact with teachers. They are helpful, especially during exams. I personally liked those teachers who focus on practical understanding rather than just theory, as it helps in MBA. However, some faculty members rely more on traditional reaching methods, which can be less engaging at times. The course structure is relevant and covers important manageent like marketing, finance and HR. It gives basic understaning of business concepts, but students still need to work on practical skills on their own. The exam system is semester based and exams are moderated in difficulty. If a student studies regularly ,it is not hard to score good and most students are able to clear exams. Overall, the faculty and courses structrure are decent but more focus on practical learning and updated teaching mehods would make it better

From my experience, the faculty to student ration was around 1:30-35 per subject, which felt quite balanced. The teachers were approachable. Whatsapp groups were formulated by the teachers for our conveneinece and to update us about any information regarding classes, subject etc. I had around 6-7 papers per semester and the level of difficulty was moderate enough. Students with consistent efforts and regular class attendace did manage to pass the exams.

Delhi University: 3 Answered Questions

What is meant by evening colleges of DU?

Ritesh Prasad
Jayant ThakurStudent at University of Delhi

Classes at the evening college start in the afternoon and end in the evening.

The curriculum, degree, classes, principal (in most cases), canteen, and location are all the same for the morning and evening batches.

However, the cutoffs differ; evening colleges have a lower cutoff than morning colleges. It has a different faculty and administration and is less crowded than the morning classes.

It differs from one college to the next. Some evening colleges are excellent, while others are on par with government schools. Teachers are present, but students don't actually care, and vice versa.

So, students with lower percentages in their XII standard are more likely to be admitted to evening colleges.

If you want to attend evening college, you don't have to feel inferior to morning students because many students from evening colleges have topped the DU exam.

Ultimately, it is up to you to consider and make decisions wisely. Many students attend evening colleges and then go to coaching to prepare for exams such as UPSC and SSC in the morning.
