Video Review: Top 10 COMMERCE COLLEGES in India???? Courses, Fees, Placement, etc. Best commerce colleges in India

  • This video by Ujjwal Sharma provides details of the top 10 commerce colleges in India: Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), Lady Shri Ram College (LSR), Hindu College, Hansraj College, and Christ University.
  • It compares affordable government/DU college fee structures with higher-tier private institutions along with their ROIs (placement)
  • It also focuses on the importance of institutional reputation, active student societies, industry networking, and internship opportunities.

Three Myths Busted
  • Myth: BBS is only for Commerce students. Students from Science, Commerce or Arts can apply at many institutes; subject-specific requirements may still apply.
  • Myth: BBS, BBA and BMS are the same everywhere. They overlap substantially in business and management studies, but curriculum, degree title, electives and admission requirements differ by university.
  • Myth: Class 12 marks alone can get admission to every BBS/BMS college. Major institutions use entrance tests. For example, Delhi University BMS admission requires CUET UG followed by CSAS.

FAQs

Ques. What is the duration of Bachelor of Business Studies (BBS)?

Ans. The conventional BBS is a 3-year undergraduate programme divided into 6 semesters. Some BMS/BBA equivalents now allow a fourth-year Honours or Honours with Research option under university-level NEP structures.

Ques. Is BBS still offered as a separate course in India in 2026?

Ans. Yes, but the exact BBS title is less common than BBA or BMS. Several institutions that historically offered business studies now use BMS, BBA or specialised BBA titles with closely related management curricula. Students should compare the syllabus rather than relying only on the degree name.

Ques. What percentage is required in Class 12 for BBS admission?

Ans. Around 50%–60% is a common eligibility range, but there is no universal percentage. Some institutions prescribe different marks, subjects or entrance requirements. The conventional BBS course profile commonly lists around 60% eligibility.

Ques. Can Science and Arts students apply for BBS?

Ans. Yes. Many BBS/BBA/BMS programmes are open to Commerce, Science and Arts students. However, students must check programme-specific subject requirements before applying.

Ques. Is Mathematics compulsory for BBS?

Ans. Not for every BBS/BBA/BMS programme. It is compulsory for Delhi University BMS and BBA (Financial Investment Analysis) in 2026–27, where applicants must have passed Mathematics/Applied Mathematics in Class 12 and appear in the relevant CUET Mathematics paper.

Ques. Which entrance exams are important for BBS admission in 2026?

Ans. Important routes include CUET UG, AIMA UGAT, NMIMS-NPAT, SET and MAH-BHMCT/BCA/BBA/BMS/BBM CET. The correct examination depends on the university and exact BBS/BMS/BBA programme.

Ques. What CUET score is required for BBS or BMS admission?

Ans. There is no single CUET cutoff for BBS/BMS. Cutoffs vary by university, college, programme, category and allocation round. Students targeting Delhi University should use the current 2026 college-wise BMS allocation cutoffs rather than a generic BBS cutoff.

Ques. Is direct admission available for BBS?

Ans. It depends on the institution. Some colleges may use Class 12 merit, but major entrance-based institutions require the prescribed exam and admission process. Delhi University BMS admission, for example, requires CUET UG and CSAS; SSCBS does not have a direct or management-quota route.

Ques. What is the difference between BBS and BBA?

Ans. Both cover business and management. BBS traditionally places strong emphasis on business studies, economics, analytics and functional management, while BBA is a broader business-administration degree. Actual differences depend more on the university syllabus than the title.

Ques. What is the difference between BBS and BMS?

Ans. BBS and BMS have substantial overlap in finance, marketing, HR, economics, operations and business strategy. BMS is currently the more common title at several major colleges that offer undergraduate management education.

Ques. What are the most popular BBS specialisation areas?

Ans. Finance, Marketing, Human Resource Management, Business Analytics, International Business, Operations, Entrepreneurship and Strategy are common focus areas. Not every university awards a formally specialised BBS degree.

Ques. What salary can a fresher expect after BBS?

Ans. A practical early-career range for many entry-level business roles is approximately INR 3 LPA–INR 5 LPA. Analyst roles requiring stronger finance, analytics or technical skills may start higher. The general BBS course profile reports average starting pay of approximately INR 4–5 LPA.

Ques. Can I become a Business Analyst after BBS?

Ans. Yes. BBS/BMS graduates can enter junior business-analysis roles. Skills in advanced Excel, SQL, Power BI/Tableau, statistics, presentations and internships can improve eligibility for analytics-focused jobs.

Ques. Is MBA a good option after BBS?

Ans. Yes. MBA and PGDM are among the most common postgraduate pathways after BBS. Students can specialise further in Finance, Marketing, Human Resources, Operations, Business Analytics, Strategy or other management domains.

Ques. Can I pursue CFA after BBS?

Ans. Yes, subject to the CFA programme's prevailing eligibility rules. A BBS student interested in investment analysis, equity research, portfolio management or corporate finance can combine the degree with finance-focused professional qualifications.

Ques. Is BBS useful for government jobs?

Ans. Yes. A recognised bachelor's degree can make graduates eligible for many graduate-level government recruitment examinations, subject to the specific age, degree, subject and category conditions of each examination.

Ques. Can BBS graduates work abroad, and what foreign package can they expect?

Ans. BBS graduates can pursue employment or postgraduate study abroad, but there is no reliable universal “foreign package". Salary depends on country, work authorisation, job role, employer, experience and local cost of living. Indian LPA figures should not be directly compared with nominal overseas salaries.

Ques. Is BBS better than B.Com for management careers?

Ans. BBS/BMS generally provides more direct exposure to management, strategy, marketing, operations and business analytics. B.Com has deeper coverage of accounting, commerce, taxation and related areas. For management-orientated corporate roles, BBS/BMS can be more directly aligned; for accounting and commerce-focused careers, B.Com may fit better.

Ques. What skills should students develop during BBS for better placements?

Ans. Useful skills include Excel, financial modelling, PowerPoint, SQL, data visualisation, communication, business writing, case solving and interview skills. Internships, live projects and student societies can also strengthen a fresher's profile.

Fees and Financial Aid

Course is BBA (FIA) fees structure are given below:- First year fee I paid 18570 Second year fees I paid 19570 And third fees is still not in light maybe again increase by 1k For those students who have income certificate less than 5-6 lakh and have bpl ration card they avail for Financial scholarship schemes. After admission short notice is given and form application started fill out form... Scholarship structure is like Less than 3 lakh 100% return Less than 5 lakh 50% return Less than 7 lakh 30-20 return And other details are provided in notice of Du sol official website sol.du.ac.in And fees are different by category wise Like general quata fees is given that is mine. Obc quota are less than 10% maybe Or sc st fees are half aur less than half Military aided fees are also less than half Fees structure are not fixed it changes year wise every year new fees structure notice will came. I don't know about any other student get financial scheme or not... sol is open learning institute it's not compulsory to attend classes... classes will held only on Sunday. One important thing is you are eligible for Financial schemes untill you passed your all subject exams in semester if you fail in any subject next time you are not eligible for fss

Faculty

Faculties are good are like fifty to sixty ration compare to students I didn't know any name and members cause attendance is not compulsory so I didn't go to college i live in west up and my college in Delhi vishwavidyalaya go only for exams...exams are not so tough if you read whole book and attend online classes you will pass the exam easily..it's not like regular college that you study hard prepare assignment. But if you didn't write anything in exam you fail..one more thing there are some error that happens with me like present in exam but in result I'm absent. Happens with many students.. Enquiry are not good just run here and there..worst it's like a nightmare if you get any error..

Campus Life

The technical fests at the north campus and south campus colleges are very good and they are actually worth attending as alot of experienced people are also invited to share their life experiences and to provide a guide to students but on the other hand these fests at off-campus colleges are nothing but a failure. The libraries of all the colleges are very nice students can easily issue books and fine is also much less 2rs per day. There are mostly all kinds of books present there and the decorum of the place is also maintained students can easily sit and study in libraries without any disturbance

Faculty

The faculty us nice apart from a few teachers. They try to help us by providing different study materials and also provide tips for the exams. Students can approach the faculty and clear their doubts but that has to be done in a respectful manner and by maintaining boundaries. The exams are moderate. They are not too easy or not too difficult. Students can easily pass the exam. Although the exams are taken in strict environment to avoid students from doing any unfair practice.

Course Curriculum Overview

My course in terms of relevance is very relevant these days because it's an firstly it sent a honours course which is which is automatically aapit difficult as compared to the other normal courses in today's term as we see many many business opportunities coming to India and business studies BA owners refers to many of the new tactics and impressive competitiveness in the coming environment we tackle with it. And telling about my faculty members they were good in teaching me this subject but but deeply I couldn't find the meaning of the subject as the teachers were not able to go there because of the syllabus because syllabus is large but if you want to go deep you can do masters in this subject. To prepare is you for real world applications as today in business studies we talk about everything marketing advertising digital marketing which is two relevant these day and very much in topics and now coming to the difficulty exams it is normal difficulty we can clear the exam by studying.

Faculty

The faculty members are also very cooperative and understanding. One of my teachers were so close to meet at he became my father's friend to when I told him that he is my teacher he told me to talk to my father and when he talk to my father he was so my father and he are friends now and in terms of studying environment they create a very good study environment and subjects they teach they are excellent in that. Some teachers are rude but they are excellent in what they do like what they teach and what they tell the strategy to crack papers also and of you exams they tell us everything regarding that. And principle is also student man has he listen to the student and employees got we want as for example the water cooler was not providing cool water in in summers so we went to the principal it was replaced in a week only so it is very quite and decent environment with teachers and facility members and teaching methods are also good. Smart classes are also there twice a week.

Ques. Have any BBA or BMS grads made it to IIM Ahmedabad?

● Top Answer By Aarti Ahuja on 05 Dec 23

Ans. I’ve had the opportunity to visit IIM Kozhikode, IIM Bangalore and IIM Ahmedabad for various competitions. While at these institutes, I interacted with many students. Some of them were from Economics background, and one had even completed her graduation in Philosophy.  Students from all these backgrounds, including BBS/BMS enjoy the diversity factor. This gives them an upper hand in the selection process over Engineers. But to enjoy this benefit, one must have a good CAT score, and a good academic record. Prepare well for your CAT, and make sure you have a good academic record. If you fulfill these criteria, you’ll get into IIM Ahmedabad, regardless of your educational background.  Also, make sure to prepare well for the quant section of CAT. This is where the engineering students outdo the candidates from other academic backgrounds. Read more

Ques. What should I choose between an IPM course at IIM Indore or a BMS course at Xavier College Mumbai?

● Top Answer By Advait Joshi on 04 Jun 23

Ans. The five-year IIM Indore IPM degree combines undergraduate and postgraduate management courses. Students who want to start their management career after 12th grade should take this course. The programme comprises economics, accounting, marketing, and human resource management classes and internships with prominent organisations. This management programme is well-regarded and offers great job chances. BMS at Xavier College Mumbai is a three-year undergraduate programme that covers all elements of management. This programme teaches management skills. The programme offers internships, economics, statistics, marketing, and finance classes. Both degrees are well-regarded and provide great managerial careers. IIM Indore's IPM programme may be a fantastic choice for 12th-graders who want to start their management careers. The BMS programme at Xavier College Mumbai may be preferable for you if you desire a more conventional undergraduate education and then management.Read more

Ques. Is it better to go for DU BMS instead of IPM of IIM Indore

● Top Answer By Akriti Banerjee on 03 Jun 23

Ans. Since you’ve not given any context to the question, the answer in any normal circumstance would be yes. Let’s understand why spending more than 5 lacs on an IPM degree is not worth your time and effort.  Fee: BMS DU charges around 50,000 for the entire course where IPM fee is unnecessarily high just because of the IIM tag. I am not saying that there will not be any difference between the curriculum but the difference is not worth the money you’re paying.  Syllabus: Although IIMs are known for their pedagogy and surely you’ll get professors who will change the way you see a subject. This kind of exposure at such an early stage of your life will widen the possibilities but if we talk about the syllabus of a BBA degree and that of a BMS degree, the difference is pretty evident.  BMS is a slightly analytical degree that would give you an edge over students pursuing BBA or BCOM. I have seen BMS students acing CAT after basic preparation cause of their good grasp on logical reasoning. It’s a given fact that an average BMS students is more likely to score well in CAT than an average BBA/BCOM student. Read more

Ques. What are the salary packages after a BMS from DU?

● Top Answer By Pooja Rampal on 06 Oct 22

Ans. The colleges that will offer Bachelors with honors courses in management studies have finally been identified by Delhi University. The course is offered by six colleges in total: Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies, College of Vocational Studies, Keshav Mahavidyalaya, Maharaja Agrasen College, Bhim Rao Ambedkar College, and Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College. The new course was implemented following the discontinuation of the BBE, BBS, and BFIF courses. These courses were extremely popular, and nearly all of the students were placed. There were 891 seats available across all three courses. The introduction of the BMS course has reduced the number by 51, which has enraged many applicants.  Keshav Mahavidyalaya is an off-campus college that is one of Delhi University's youngest and fastest growing, it has also provided exceptional placements for BMS. Top companies such as AT Kearney, S&P CapIQ, CEB, SmartCube, McKinsey Knowledge Center, Google, Grail Research , and others have recruited students from the college in recent years. The Department of Management Studies has a strong alumni network that provides students with numerous opportunities. Thus, well-deserving BMS students from KMV can easily get campus placement, and the average package is around 4.5-5 Lakhs, with the highest offered in the previous year being 9.5 Lakhs.Read more

Ques. What is the admission process for Bachelor of Management Studies [BMS] St Xavier's Mumbai?

● Top Answer By Anonymous on 11 Mar 25

Ans. I applied to IIM Indore, St. Xavier's mumbai, TAPMI Manipal and I had given CET exam to apply for colleges in Mumbai. I did not clear the IPMAT exam as I prepared only for 2 months, so I didn't make it to iim indore. St. Xavier's being one of the top colleges in India was my next choice. I also got into TAPMI Manipal but I chose Xavier's over it as the ROI was better. For admission in Xavier's you've to clear the Xavier's Entrance Test (XET) for BMS, BMM and BSC-IT. Post which you'll get a call if your name is in the merit list. Rest of the process is done in the college itself, where you'll be asked to submit your documents and fill out some forms. It is a quite easy and smooth process.Read more
