Fees and Financial Aid

Zakir Husain Delhi College (University of Delhi) follows the fee structure prescribed by the University of Delhi, which is mostly uniform across DU colleges. The yearly fee for my course is approximately ?6,000–?8,000 per year for General category students. This includes tuition fees, admission fees, registration fees, university development fees, library fees, examination fees, and other compulsory charges. There is also a one-time caution deposit of around ?1,000, which is refundable after course completion. The total fee for the complete course comes to around ?18,000–?24,000, depending on the course duration (3 years) and minor yearly variations. The fees are largely stable and do not increase significantly every year, though slight revisions may occur as per DU guidelines. For students belonging to SC/ST/PwBD categories, the fees are comparatively lower due to fee concessions provided by the university. Their annual fees are usually around ?2,000–?4,000 per year. Various scholarships and financial aid options are available, such as Delhi University Merit-cum-Means Scholarship, Post-Matric Scholarship for SC/ST/OBC students, and National Scholarship Portal (NSP) scholarships, which provide financial assistance based on merit and family income.

There are various companies which comes for inter internship and job openings for fresher after third year of B.com some companies are start up or Private Limited offering different roles to different students, and depending the packages of the students is defined as per their roles in the firm. Also, there is a separate committee for placement known as placement committee and the average package for each student. After graduation of BCom is around 2.5 LPA to 4.5 LPA.

Faculty

The faculty is duely monitered and managed by different commitee to look after the students overlooking their prgress and also watching over doubt solving skills. The course is divided into 6 semester i.e (6 sem in 3 years). As per the NEP. A student can have B.com for 4 years with a live project and for the purpose of gaining experience. Faculty

The faculty to student ratio in my college is reasonable, through class strength is high. Most teacher are approachable and helpful, and students can easily discuss doubts with them. Some teachers were less engaging and depend mainly on slides. The course structure includes core and elective papers and build strong commerce basics, through it need more practical learning.

Course Curriculum Overview

I would rate the course curriculum as relevant. I chose this course because it covers core commerce subject like accounting, law and economics which are useful for jobs and higher studies. The syllabus builds strong basic, but real world expouser is limited. Exams are held regularly with internals and end semester exams and the level is moderate

Campus Life

The campus life is very lively. Most students hang in the grounds and canteens between classes and most of the time some or the other thing keeps happeing to entertain the students. The library is a silent place and also they provide all kinds of books for the students. The annual cultural fest was also held in which most colleges of Chandigarh took part and it created a very vibrant vibe for the students. Many clubs have been organised which keeps on organising various events including charity.

Faculty

The exam pattern is very easy and compatible, we need to attempt total eight questions out of which four of five marks each and four of fifteen marks each . We get a choice of attempting four out of six and two out of four questions. The course curriculum covers all the important areas required and also doesn't create a burden on students. The faculties are overall very supportive and friendly but yes some are strict but it works for clever and noisy students

In the second and third year, the fee remain almost same with a slight increase of ?2000-?3000 mainly due to university charges and examination charges. The total fees for the complete B.com course is approximately ?1.25 lakh to ?1.35 lakh and it increases marginally every year. Students belonging to SC/ST categories get Punjab Government Scholarship as per norms. Merit-based and merit-cum-need scholarship are also available for deserving student. Some students from other categories also receive financial aid depending on their academic performance and family income.

Campus Life

My overall campus experience has been good. The college organizes cultural and technical events, which make campus life enjoyable. The library has a decent collection of books and is easily accessible for students. Classrooms are equipped with basic technology like projectors and clean sitting arrangements. Sports and extracurricular activities are available, and students can participate in different competition. There are also a few clubs and groups that helps students improve their skills and interact with others. Overall, the campus environment is friendly and supportive, making the student experience positive.

Fees and Financial Aid

Completed my Bachelors degree from this university in 2022 and the university was affiliated with Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth and the fee structure was 45000 pr year for plain Bcom specifically and apart from that they charged examination fee ,workshop fee, large amounts for trips and apart from that even if we are going some other college or state for showcasing our own college we had to pay for that as well and reimbursement was near to impossible so basically they tried to loot us in every possibe way. the fee structure as increased as the college has become autonomous and multiple courses has been added.

Faculty

Faculty was good and it was the only good thing about the college some of them were partial to a certain group f favourite students but they were also good with their teaching profession. As I said earlier that commerce faculty is top notch and the faculty to student ratio is also manageable. They always try to help us and improve our mindset. They all are pretty much highly educated and good person, they teach very well.

Fees and Financial Aid

One of the most important aspects students look at while choosing a college is the fee structure, so here is my detailed experience till now from the Bcom programme at Daulat Ram College. When I took admission in the college, the fee structure felt a bit confusing as compared to other DU colleges. Although the fee structure was not explained year wise anywhere, so most of us relied on what we saw during admission. I have paid only my first year fee so far, which came to around Rs. 34,600. The first fee structure includes admission fee, tuition fee, library fee, examination charges and other compulsory dues. The college keeps the academic fee same for all categories (General, OBC, SC, ST, EWS) but a relief is provided to students belonging to Kashmiri Migrants and PWD categories. All admitted SC/ST, OBC, EWS and PWD students in college who are eligibile for fellowships can opt for scholarship forms.

Campus Life

My experience with campus life has been good till now. The Annual Fest was named Jalsa, recently Seva Sankalp Mahotsav which is held by National Service Scheme. There are many fests which are held like Freshers, Diwali Mela, etc. which are really fun to go in. The library is spacious, quiet and a good place to study during free periods. It includes several academic and other books to read. The college has many societies like Womens Development Cell, Global Association of Economic Association, Tajagna the quiz society, debating society, etc. which are fun to be a part of.

Faculty

Faculty is in appropriate ratio, and the relationship among students and faculty is quite good. One can easily approach them for doubts etc. Dr Sunita Pooniya Mam, she's our business law teacher and she's veryyyyy helpful veryyy sweet. Suchi paati, business organisation management teacher, she's veryyy rude and frustrated all the tym. Exams are conducted regularly only with moderate level of toughness. A few of them only fail, and the tests are 100% relevant to the course curriculum.

Campus Life

My overall experience in the campus is veryyy amazing till now. Freshers party was held in November. And library is fullyyyy occupied with alot of book mostly consisting all the authors. Yess in classrooms projectors are there. Not much aware about sports and all. Yes there are societies in my college like pathshala (for teaching children who don't have access to studies), and there's a society for dogs, cats welfare too.

The fee structure of b com hons course is Rs 34,000 per year which includes all your admission fees, tution fees, etc. There is a slight variation in fees for other categories like obc, sc, st. The fees is slightly increasing every year but not by a huge margin

Course Curriculum Overview

Course curriculum is as per Delhi University's official curriculum, so it's pretty good. But its very theoretical as well so if I would suggest an improvement it would be this to make the curriculum more real and practical life based rather than rote learning.

General Social Aspects: Common ways students socialize, typical events (orientation, dances, movie nights), and the role of dorm life in fostering community. Club Involvement: The variety of clubs often found on campuses (academic, cultural, recreational, service), the benefits of joining, and how to find information on specific clubs at a given university. Infrastructure: General descriptions of common campus facilities, such as libraries, recreation centers, dining halls, and typical classroom technology. To get specific, authentic insights into the campus life at a particular university, I recommend consulting: University Websites: Often feature pages dedicated to student life, student organizations, and campus facilities. Student Review Websites: Offer perspectives from current and former students. Student Blogs or Vlogs: Provide personal, day-to-day accounts of life on campus.

Course Curriculum Overview

Curriculum needs to focus on what you can do with information rather than the information itself. I wouldn’t eliminate content, without background we cannot form good, rational, and educated conclusions. We are still giving timed tests in math facts! I know that’s traditional, but it just isn’t as important. My era had no calculators and we needed to be proficient at paper and pencil solutions, but now, perfect calculations are available to everyone. We should focus on what kinds of problems can be solved with mathematics. Spelling is equally less important. Vocabulary should be stressed. My sister years ago was taking a test for a personal assistant position where she was asked to type a large number of words per minute error free.

Course Curriculum Overview

Due to NEP the course has been more developed to the students and teachers also explain the topocs to us very clearly and the thing should be change that the timing of the paper are at morning time which is at 7:30am it should be 10 or 10:30 because this time the students get late to the paper and didnt get time to prep.

Campus Life

The campus has two buildings with school and junoir college and degree college and having library and canteen and also a gymkhana for students and a good space of ground for sports activity and along with this they have free parking around it and a paid parking at college.

Ques. Which course is better: B. Commerce Hons or BA Economics Hons from DU?

● Top Answer By Divjot Bagga on 06 Oct 22

Ans. The answer to this question will rely on your future goals, what you compassionately dream of doing, and what you believe you will truly like. However, Economics Honors from DU is one of the best courses with exceptional scope and value in the corporate world. Everyone is aware that the University of Delhi's most prestigious course is Economics Hons. Rapidly rising cutoffs provide proof of this.  Additionally, compared to other courses, it offers higher placement prospects. Nevertheless, immense power entails great responsibility. It's not the kind of subject you can get by with just one night of studying. It necessitates commitment and diligence. Additionally, it is the most challenging course the university offers. So, BA Economics is the best option for anyone who is keenly interested in the subject.  BA Economics(Hons) is DU's most difficult yet prestigious course. As a result, if you are in the unreserved category, you will need a higher percentage. Try to get a score of 90% or higher to get into DU, and 95% or higher to get into DU's good colleges. In the end, it all comes down to your score.Read more

Ques. What is the passing criteria for B.Com (H) year 1 SOl DU?

● Top Answer By Sanjana Kapoor on 06 Oct 23

Ans. SOl DU’s first year exam of B.com isn't as tough as you might think. A few criteria for passing the first-semester exam are as follows:  To clear your first year, you need to score at least 33% in every subject, out of a total of 75 marks. Sounds doable, As long as you hit that 33% mark in each subject, you're on track to successfully move forward in your academic journey. Now, let's talk about the "what if." If, unfortunately, you score below 33% in any one subject, don't worry too much. You won't have to repeat the entire year. Instead, you'll need to give an ER (Essential Repeat) the following year, which is your second year. Here's the trick - try to aim for an ER in as few subjects as possible. If you have to give an ER for more than four subjects, then, yes, you'll have to repeat the entire year. So, as you dive into your first year, remember that success is within your reach. Stay focused, study hard, and aim for those 33% scores. Read more

Ques. Which DU college is better, Ramjas or Sri Venkateswara for B.Com?

● Top Answer By Samiksha Madan on 21 Jan 22

Ans. Both Ramjas and Sri Venkateswara are reputed colleges under Delhi University. According to the reviews online Sri Venkateswara (SVC) is better when it comes to commerce than Ramjas. SVC has better placements, faculty and overall exposure. Both colleges are very much involved in cultural activities and extracurriculars. If you are willing to opt for a science course then go for Ramjas, Commerce is better in SVC. They both have no strict rules to maintain a 75% attendance, you should just have enough to sit for the internals. Students who are unable to sit in the internals due to their involvement in clubs and societies have to submit an ECA to their teacher. This is possible in both the colleges. Ramjas has a better infrastructure than SVC. But all these do not matter much, if you are dedicated to your studies, you can succeed in any college. Choose the college nearer to you, the north or the south campus.Read more

Ques. Should I go for B.Com (P) from Motilal Nehru College or Shaheed Bhagat Singh (E) College?

● Top Answer By Ria Arora on 13 Jan 22

Ans. Motilal Nehru is a morning college whereas Shaheed Bhagat Singh College (SBSC) has both morning and evening colleges. At first, you will have to decide your preference for the timings. One of my friends graduated from Motilal Nehru College (Day) and has had flatmates studying in evening colleges. According to him their routines were completely different. So, the choice completely depends on you and which time of the day you are comfortable with. Motilal Nehru has a competent faculty, with spacious new buildings, library and good placements. They also have active societies such as Enactus, DebSoc, Archon Leadership Cell and others. Another benefit of being in Motilal is that it is located in the South Campus and is always crowded. This crowd attracts the building of proper hangout places. Its Satya Niketan market offers good places to eat and good coaching centers. On the other hand SBSC (E) would only give you the benefit because of its past reputation, good sports infrastructure and its proximity to Select City Walk. Therefore make an informed decision as this will be motivated towards the shaping of your career.Read more

Ph.D. stands for Doctor of Philosophy. A Ph.D. holder is eligible for a professorship at the college/university level. Apart from that, Ph.D. holders contribute to the field of research and development. Ph.D. is a research-based course that you can pursue after your master's. This means that you can opt for a Ph.D. after your MCom, and not right after your BCom. Different colleges have different eligibility criteria for PhD admissions. You can sit for the UGC NET exam to qualify as a JRF/Assistant Professor after your MCom.
