Faculty

The faculty members in my college are generally experienced and knowledgeable in their respective subjects. Most professors have been teaching for many years and have a good understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of the course. The faculty to student ratio is decent Although classes are sometimes large, professors still try to give attention to students who are generally genuinely interested in participate in class.

Faculty

The faculty to students ratio is not so good it's like just doing their duties on their parts and moving forward. I like isha bhatt mam, Ravinder sir , shivani mam Udita maam. because they teach with patient and also take care of students issues. i don't like himanshu sir because that man only teaches law in all the subjects, even a lot of students don't like himanshu sir becuse that man make his own formulas and laws which contradict books content. there is a special teacher also who teaches very well , explains thing excellently but she was very rude with every student during the whole semester . even once I was very ill , so i asked mam to submit my file next day or day after tommorow and a that time I don't have any friend near me who can submit my file . I told mam my whole problem and all the things and still she forced me to submit my file at that point of time. she don't have a little bit feelings and don't understands someoone's problem. there are 3 core subjects for every semester and 4 optional subjects which AEC, GE, VAC, SAC . these subjects we need to choose from the lists while filling the preference form.

Fees and Financial Aid

I paid Rs.34,250 for first year for my course b.com programme. I paid Rs.31,650 for second year and and will pay around Rs.34,000 for the upcoming third year. there is no such extra fees except tuition and hostel fees (hostel fees if hostel is alloted). There is same tuition fees for every category students depending on their courses only. there is fee concession for form students who don't belong to good financial background and also a few scholarships like u go scholarship, NSP scholarship etc.

There are many societies in the college, they arrange many programs, there are so many programs that we don't remember the names, there are many books available in the library, whatever type of book you want to read, you will get that type of book in the library, there is nothing technical in the classroom, it is a normal C class, we are commerce students, science students, people going to UN are given different facilities, in the month of November itself we had a boxing champion here, every type of game is played here, there is a good environment for games, if marks are given for continuous assessment, then the children should be divided into 4-5 groups and given tasks so that there can be coordination and some development of us people

Course Curriculum Overview

I was a little interested in money management since childhood, that's why I chose B.Com because it teaches about money management. If we talk about the syllabus and how much it connects with the real world, then it is very little. We are taught the same old syllabus which has been changed a long time ago. Mainly in the accounts subject, first of all one should see what is going on in the real world and what is there in the syllabus. The same syllabus is repeated again and again while the world is changing very fast. The exams are improving but the syllabus needs improvement. The exam is going well

Sri venkateswara college has one annual festival, Nexus, which is usually held in February or March. The fest has a good reputation in DU and is usually very well organised. The college also has a lot of societies, both ones specific to the college as well as inter-college ones such as Enactus, IFSA, 180DC, etc., most of which are great opportunities to be a part of. The campus has a few sports facilities which are well-maintained. Although the classrooms are somewhat unmaintained, every classroom has a projector and the ICT lab is well stocked. The library also has a very good range of material. Every subject of every course has at least 4-5 books available.

Course Curriculum Overview

The curriculum of the course I am pursuing, Bachelor of Commerce, is fairly comprehensive, but there are a few issues with it. Most of the subjects you have to study are relevant and do a decent job of increasing your skills and knowledge, and overall I would say it does provide you with useful knowledge that can be applied in the real world. However, one glaring issue is the mandatory language subjects which students have to study. These subjects are not overtly difficult, however they are unnecessary and only serve to take away time from more relevant subjects.

Fees and Financial Aid

The semester fees was roughly Rs. 11000, so that makes an yearly amount to Rs. 22000. This fees includes the tuition fees, registration fees, development fees, lab fees and few of the other charges. The admission and registartion fees is paid through online counselling which is just one time fee. Fees for the students that belong to any of the reserved categories is comparatively low. Apart from this therr are few government scholarship also available and financial aid is provided to those students who are eligible under the economically weaker section.

There is a good ratio of faculty to students, ensuring proper interaction. Teaches are easily accessible whenever help is requirerd for either academic queries or other assistance. Many of the professors were highy qualified and i enjoyed all those teachers concentrated in concepts and practical output. The course has a semster pattern where exams are held once in each semester known as final semester examination and also few mid term examination for internals.

Infrastructure ain't that great as one building and that too old. One playground is there and it is in the middle of residential area. So even fests like Tarangan is where students of other colleges are also invited. We also have an annual day celebration and is called Trishna. So, overall societies and all are good but infrastructure needs some more space.

Faculty

At TCSC all B.com faculties are Phd and some CA are there. So their teaching because they have such heavy knowledge was also very heavy. Also, they pushed us to ask doubts and don't leave them until all are cleared. This went on for all three years and thus that is how I was able to clear Mumbai University tough exams with over 7 CGPA.

The college provides a very alive and diverse social and campus life. The college societies are active, The student pool is diverse. The college also holds an annual college fest, and also a special fresher party for the newest batch of students. The college library is a great positive of the college, as it is quite large and has available almost any book that a student might need and more. It is also fairly easy to get a book issued on your library card. There are computer labs, chemistry labs, and every technological facility that is needed for education. The sports infrastructure is lacking though. There is not a lot of sporting events. The college does have a ground, and a basketball court. The college societies acticely engage and provide students with an overview of the real world, helping them become a better self in every way.

Course Curriculum Overview

The curriculum is aptly relevant according to today's standard. A B.com degree allows a student to pursue various financial disciplines later on in life which is why I chose this degree. The curriculum involves the knowledge which a student might need to secure a job in a good finance firm, considering they have extracurriculars backing them up. We are also given a choice to choose 2 subjects of our choice each semester, which are also relevant, and up to date, helping students gear up for the real world. An are of improvement in the curriculum would be the integration of application based learning, in which a student would have to apply their financial learnings in an internship for a grade. The exams are held at the end of every semester, with small class tests in between the semester for internal assessment marks

There is a huge library in our campus which gives access to over 15000 books or more. We have basic facilities like fan and lightnings in our classrooms. We do have a wide range of sports activities and competitions conducted for interested students they even go for university selections and represent universities in national levels. We have a student portal where we get access to all academic related stuff

Faculty

The faculties in my department are quite friendly and approachable they always give their best to help us whenever we need. And they are always ready to explain things to us if we dont understand anything. There are few teachers i like the most but i cannot name them due to privacy concerns. We have 2 main exams each year and then in between they conduct internals. It is not quite difficult to pass them as they prepare us really well and help us in every possible ways to make it easy for us to study that particular subject

The faculty to student ratio is decent as per the course. Approximately 50 to 70 students on 1 faculty becomes the ratio in lectures. The faculty for accounts being the most superior in teaching and the faculties for 3rd subjects being boring which includes 3rd language. However, the whole faculty is approachable and friendly. The frequency of exams are twice per semester which is internal and external. External is the exams which is conducted by university and internal is the demo form of external exams and we also have to submit assignment per semester. Marking schemes are different for every semester but 50 percentage of the total is given by university and rest 50 percentage is by college by way of internal exams and assignment

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees of the college is very affordable as it is grant-in-aid college by the gujarat government and the admission are taken on merit basis ONLY. Fees varies from 600 to 1800-2000 depending on the course. I paid Rs 1250 for my B.com 1st sem and paid 1100 for the b.com 2nd sem. However I was amazed that the fees of the college decreases with the higher levels. Their is a 50% flat deductions for female students. For instance, my batchmate girls paid 650 for b.com sem 1 in comparison to me paying 1250. Their is also some deductions for schedule caste which may vary from 30 to 50 percent. The fees includes all type of tuition fees and university form fees of Rs 250 for the exams and no hidden charges thereafter.

Faculty

The faculty-student ratio is pretty okay, and most teachers are approachable if you actually go and talk to them. Some professors are really good at their subjects and explain things properly, especially when they use real-life examples instead of just reading slides. There are a few teachers everyone likes because they’re supportive and chill with doubts, but honestly some classes can feel boring or too theory-heavy. The course follows the DU semester system with internal assessments and end-sem exams, and it’s not too hard if you stay regular. The syllabus is relevant for building basics, but it could definitely have more practical and skill-based stuff.

Fees and Financial Aid

The yearly fee is around ?18–20k, which includes tuition fees, admission and registration charges, and other compulsory charges. There isn’t any major difference in fees for categories, but science students usually pay a little extra because of lab fees. Over the full three-year course, the total fee comes to roughly ?40,000-50,000. The fees have slightly increased over the years due to changes in university charges. Some of my batchmates from reserved categories pay the same fees but get scholarships

Ques. Which course is better: B. Commerce Hons or BA Economics Hons from DU?

● Top Answer By Divjot Bagga on 06 Oct 22

Ans. The answer to this question will rely on your future goals, what you compassionately dream of doing, and what you believe you will truly like. However, Economics Honors from DU is one of the best courses with exceptional scope and value in the corporate world. Everyone is aware that the University of Delhi's most prestigious course is Economics Hons. Rapidly rising cutoffs provide proof of this.  Additionally, compared to other courses, it offers higher placement prospects. Nevertheless, immense power entails great responsibility. It's not the kind of subject you can get by with just one night of studying. It necessitates commitment and diligence. Additionally, it is the most challenging course the university offers. So, BA Economics is the best option for anyone who is keenly interested in the subject.  BA Economics(Hons) is DU's most difficult yet prestigious course. As a result, if you are in the unreserved category, you will need a higher percentage. Try to get a score of 90% or higher to get into DU, and 95% or higher to get into DU's good colleges. In the end, it all comes down to your score.Read more

Ques. What is the passing criteria for B.Com (H) year 1 SOl DU?

● Top Answer By Sanjana Kapoor on 06 Oct 23

Ans. SOl DU’s first year exam of B.com isn't as tough as you might think. A few criteria for passing the first-semester exam are as follows:  To clear your first year, you need to score at least 33% in every subject, out of a total of 75 marks. Sounds doable, As long as you hit that 33% mark in each subject, you're on track to successfully move forward in your academic journey. Now, let's talk about the "what if." If, unfortunately, you score below 33% in any one subject, don't worry too much. You won't have to repeat the entire year. Instead, you'll need to give an ER (Essential Repeat) the following year, which is your second year. Here's the trick - try to aim for an ER in as few subjects as possible. If you have to give an ER for more than four subjects, then, yes, you'll have to repeat the entire year. So, as you dive into your first year, remember that success is within your reach. Stay focused, study hard, and aim for those 33% scores. Read more

Ques. Which DU college is better, Ramjas or Sri Venkateswara for B.Com?

● Top Answer By Samiksha Madan on 21 Jan 22

Ans. Both Ramjas and Sri Venkateswara are reputed colleges under Delhi University. According to the reviews online Sri Venkateswara (SVC) is better when it comes to commerce than Ramjas. SVC has better placements, faculty and overall exposure. Both colleges are very much involved in cultural activities and extracurriculars. If you are willing to opt for a science course then go for Ramjas, Commerce is better in SVC. They both have no strict rules to maintain a 75% attendance, you should just have enough to sit for the internals. Students who are unable to sit in the internals due to their involvement in clubs and societies have to submit an ECA to their teacher. This is possible in both the colleges. Ramjas has a better infrastructure than SVC. But all these do not matter much, if you are dedicated to your studies, you can succeed in any college. Choose the college nearer to you, the north or the south campus.Read more

Ques. Should I go for B.Com (P) from Motilal Nehru College or Shaheed Bhagat Singh (E) College?

● Top Answer By Ria Arora on 13 Jan 22

Ans. Motilal Nehru is a morning college whereas Shaheed Bhagat Singh College (SBSC) has both morning and evening colleges. At first, you will have to decide your preference for the timings. One of my friends graduated from Motilal Nehru College (Day) and has had flatmates studying in evening colleges. According to him their routines were completely different. So, the choice completely depends on you and which time of the day you are comfortable with. Motilal Nehru has a competent faculty, with spacious new buildings, library and good placements. They also have active societies such as Enactus, DebSoc, Archon Leadership Cell and others. Another benefit of being in Motilal is that it is located in the South Campus and is always crowded. This crowd attracts the building of proper hangout places. Its Satya Niketan market offers good places to eat and good coaching centers. On the other hand SBSC (E) would only give you the benefit because of its past reputation, good sports infrastructure and its proximity to Select City Walk. Therefore make an informed decision as this will be motivated towards the shaping of your career.Read more

Ph.D. stands for Doctor of Philosophy. A Ph.D. holder is eligible for a professorship at the college/university level. Apart from that, Ph.D. holders contribute to the field of research and development. Ph.D. is a research-based course that you can pursue after your master's. This means that you can opt for a Ph.D. after your MCom, and not right after your BCom. Different colleges have different eligibility criteria for PhD admissions. You can sit for the UGC NET exam to qualify as a JRF/Assistant Professor after your MCom.
