I just completed my first year so i would say that you must join any society you like in first year even if its a private society like Encactus and the college has lots of sports you can enroll like kabbadi, hockey ,cricket football etc My college has many active societies that organize events like debates, essay writing, PUBG, typing, photography, music, and cooking competitions. We also have exhibitions of paintings, books, fashion items, along with food stalls from various brands. Library Evening library is small have less books and of old editions or years but you will get many books, novels to magazine to read ,daily newsapaper to read and silent place to learn and read . Sports College provide many sports like kabbadi, cricket, foitball etc you can enroll in and your attendance will also be counted in class if informed to teacher with proper record of sports attendnace NNC is also available ,you can join NCC in your first year as fresher. Canteen There is same college canteen for evening and morning and is ok ok ,food and beverages  as usual decent and price is slightly higher than average.

Faculty

Most professors are good specially the main subjects one but two things you need to know , one is that they will explain only main main topics rest is your turn  and optional subjects(SEC,VAC etc ) teachers may not good or you have to do everything on your own . Exam :So every semester exams held, for this you need to submit assignment, complete practicals and fill examination forms in time because exam form comes mostly 1.5 moths before   exam and stamped the admit card from office . Exam fee is 2000 approx as it depend on your subjects.

Virasat and Tech day are two big events and now celebs and singers are on song at our campus which was earlier not happening. Lucky to see that college has become lineinet. Infrastructure though of our college is as good as a private university. We have some of the best seats in the house in our very own Veronica Hall.

Faculty

Faculties have teaching experience of teaching at DU colleges like Gargi and SRCC. Ofcourse for higher salaries they might have joined our college but it is beneficial for us only as their teaching standards and ways are better than many. I just love being in the classrooms as their teaching methods are so lovely.

From Dusshera, to Diwali, to Christmas to Eid, every festival is celebrated at our campus and Veronica Auditorium which is one of the largest auditorium that one will find is set a blaze. Besides auditorium we have elevators in Commerce Block and a rich cafeteria area is also there. We have event nights and the biggest of the lot is Virasat.

Placement Experience

Big 4 and some manufacturing companies who have large scale accounting are the ones who have partnered with college to get them the real workforce for their organisation. A lot of girls from our college who secured jobs from campus have helped the college build network and make sure every year maximum girls are placed from campus.

Faculty

The faculty for commerce is mostly women teacher's. As mentioned previously there some teacher's who go off topic while teaching. B.com hons has 3 compulsory subjects- Financial accounts, business law and management principal. In all these the end semester exam is of 90 mark. 80 marks is internal assessments. Which is again bifurcated in 40-40. In one 40 marks includes tests, assessments and attendance. Other 40 is continuous assessment. Then we have vac, sac, aec. In this you have to choose your subjects out of the available options. In these the end semester exam is of 30 marks. Rest 80 marks is internal assessment. The last is general elective. This is also a subject you need to choose on your own. If you study the same GE for seven semester, it becomes your minor degree. And most importantly Ge end semester exam is of 90 marks and 80 marks internal assessment.

Course Curriculum Overview

If i take about the three compulsory subject of B.com hons- Financial accounts, business law and management principle, the curriculum is pretty relvant. The chapters will definitely help in real world application. The fact that we have tutorial classes which is doubt solving classes is again very helpful. Though not all the curriculums in sec and vac is not relevant. For eg. Aurveda and nutrition. As a commerce student i believe we need to have morw options that are related to our Subjects or our field. Like probably finance literacy, HR, PR etc.

Faculty

I think the faculties are the same in SRCC as they are in DU. Some are very approachable and understand students' problems as well but some don't. I won't say they are the best in teaching. Most students don't listen attentively in class. Also some are Guest Lecturers so they are not regular as well. Coming to the course, we have three main subjects in Bcom Hons and 1 AEC, SEC, VAC and GE. In AEC we either learn Hindi or EVS. SEC and VAC are just complete waste of time. Exams are actually easy. We get options in all Questions so most of the students easily pass in the exam.

Campus Life

The campus life here will never let you get bored. Various events like the Crossroads, Business Conclave, TedX keep happening here making the campus life interesting. Moreover, we have a big library having book in various disciplines. Talking about sports so there is a sports complex in which we can play basketball, badminton, table tennis, football and cricket. There are more than 50 societies in SRCC so no matter what your interest you will find a society that you like.

Fees and Financial Aid

At UCC, fees is nothing as 6000 a year and that for B.Com (Hons) is nothing. Also we have to pay semester wise so the fees payment becomes even more easy as just 3000 a semester. This is as I am from general category otherwise SC/ST and some students from lower category don't even have to pay anything at all as they get a lot of scholarships.

Faculty

Calcutta University stalwarts are the ones who have been hired by our college to teach us. We have extra ordinary faculties as they teach us with giving examples within the class like you borrowed from him/her and then how the accounts will be written for that. So how to make sure that class laughs, is what our faculties take great care of.

Course Curriculum Overview

At Calcutta University unlike the Delhi University, we don't have the option of finishing it in 3 years. Our Hons program is of four years and we have to cover all four year programme. All aspects of accounting be it GST or Cost Accounting, everything is covered in our syllabus.

Faculty

B.Com (Hons) of Calcutta University is same or rather second to DU.our course covers all aspects of Hons and also due to strong faculties even a tough course like ours looks like nuts. So, I am grateful for our faculties as they have been the riding force of our college.

Course Curriculum Overview

I would rate B.com Honours course curriculam at BSSS as quite relevant and comprehensive for students who want to build there career in commerse, finance or management. I opted this couse as it is balanced curriculam. Subjects like Taxation and Financial Management prepared me for real world applications in accounting, audits and corporate finance. While the theory part was strong, the college could include more industry projects, case studies and workshops. The difficulty level of exams are moderate.

Placement Experience

At BSSS, we become eligible for the placement opportunity from the 3rd year. Some companies that visited during my course were Accenture, Delloite, and other local bhopal companies. And the package offered was between 4 to 5 l.p.a. There were not much placements as most of the students in my batch were going for further studies and same was with me.

I personally wanted to explore my career options in the field of commerce not because I was scared of maths or science ( although we still have maths in our 3rd semester) but because I was curious about economics and business. In our curriculum there are various subjects which defines the real world applicability. Each semester is divided into 4 months and our semester usually starts from August and ends November, semester exams are conducted in mid December .

Campus Life

We have many fests in Shri Ram College of commerce like societies annual events, students union events like business conclave, crossroads etc. Society events begin by the starting of January. And then continues till the starting of March. Then comes Business conclave and crossroads. We have almost access to every course book or other books in our library. Our sports complex is best in whole Delhi University

Faculty

The faculty to student ratio is little less than what is needed since most of the classes are taken by scholars rather than the professors , the faculty members are good and knowledgeable and approachable depending of the nature of work , office staff are nice too you can get your work done. There are generally only two exams mid sem and end sem , whose level is medium , not very easy but not hard at the same time. Though the marks depends on the professors some are lineant and some are strict . Some professors are very strict in checking copy or can be biased due to personal prejudice (rare possibility) , whereas mid terms are not conducted on fixed schedule like other facilities but professor for each subject provide you with date and syllabus according to their preference and you have to bring your own sheet. The course curriculum is fine since NEP , you have to study some useless subjects without your consent.

Campus Life

The overall experience with campus life is good , you can enjoy your college days as there are a lot of competitions and not just that but even the fests of IIT BHU , near college campus their is main market . Every faculty has its own library where you can get books and even study but their is also Central library which is very large and free you can issue books without any problem if they are available as their are more than 1 lakh books it is definitely not easy to search something, you can also just go and study without issuing any books . I don't know much about sports but their is GPL in commerce faculty a cricket tournament and their is ground where you can go and play. Their are a lot of student led societies and club you can join and many are emerging too , they can provide you with some certificates ( digital) , some with skills as well as reach depending on the type of work they do.

Ques. Which course is better: B. Commerce Hons or BA Economics Hons from DU?

● Top Answer By Divjot Bagga on 06 Oct 22

Ans. The answer to this question will rely on your future goals, what you compassionately dream of doing, and what you believe you will truly like. However, Economics Honors from DU is one of the best courses with exceptional scope and value in the corporate world. Everyone is aware that the University of Delhi's most prestigious course is Economics Hons. Rapidly rising cutoffs provide proof of this.  Additionally, compared to other courses, it offers higher placement prospects. Nevertheless, immense power entails great responsibility. It's not the kind of subject you can get by with just one night of studying. It necessitates commitment and diligence. Additionally, it is the most challenging course the university offers. So, BA Economics is the best option for anyone who is keenly interested in the subject.  BA Economics(Hons) is DU's most difficult yet prestigious course. As a result, if you are in the unreserved category, you will need a higher percentage. Try to get a score of 90% or higher to get into DU, and 95% or higher to get into DU's good colleges. In the end, it all comes down to your score.Read more

Ques. Which colleges in DU offer BCom Hons without math?

● Top Answer By Dolly Ahuja on 10 Oct 22

Ans. Every college at Delhi University offers B.Com (Hons) without including math in your best four, despite the fact that math should be a subject in your 12th grade. It is to take into account that to be admitted to an undergraduate course that requires a specific subject or a group of subjects, candidates must have passed the subject/each of the subjects individually.Read more

Ques. What is the passing criteria for B.Com (H) year 1 SOl DU?

● Top Answer By Sanjana Kapoor on 06 Oct 23

Ans. SOl DU’s first year exam of B.com isn't as tough as you might think. A few criteria for passing the first-semester exam are as follows:  To clear your first year, you need to score at least 33% in every subject, out of a total of 75 marks. Sounds doable, As long as you hit that 33% mark in each subject, you're on track to successfully move forward in your academic journey. Now, let's talk about the "what if." If, unfortunately, you score below 33% in any one subject, don't worry too much. You won't have to repeat the entire year. Instead, you'll need to give an ER (Essential Repeat) the following year, which is your second year. Here's the trick - try to aim for an ER in as few subjects as possible. If you have to give an ER for more than four subjects, then, yes, you'll have to repeat the entire year. So, as you dive into your first year, remember that success is within your reach. Stay focused, study hard, and aim for those 33% scores. Read more

Ans. Shaheed Bhagat Singh College (SBSC) is well known for its commerce courses. It is considered the best commerce college of Delhi University. B.Com is really good here with proper academics and placement records. SBSC always had higher cut offs, so the students getting admission there are some of the brilliant minds of the country. Their cut off usually ranges from 94–96.5% for the general category for B.Com. Even with the higher cut offs, their placement record never seemed to hit the bottom. Ques. Which DU college is better, Ramjas or Sri Venkateswara for B.Com?

● Top Answer By Samiksha Madan on 21 Jan 22

Ans. Both Ramjas and Sri Venkateswara are reputed colleges under Delhi University. According to the reviews online Sri Venkateswara (SVC) is better when it comes to commerce than Ramjas. SVC has better placements, faculty and overall exposure. Both colleges are very much involved in cultural activities and extracurriculars. If you are willing to opt for a science course then go for Ramjas, Commerce is better in SVC. They both have no strict rules to maintain a 75% attendance, you should just have enough to sit for the internals. Students who are unable to sit in the internals due to their involvement in clubs and societies have to submit an ECA to their teacher. This is possible in both the colleges. Ramjas has a better infrastructure than SVC. But all these do not matter much, if you are dedicated to your studies, you can succeed in any college. Choose the college nearer to you, the north or the south campus.Read more

Ques. Should I go for B.Com (P) from Motilal Nehru College or Shaheed Bhagat Singh (E) College?

● Top Answer By Ria Arora on 13 Jan 22

Ans. Motilal Nehru is a morning college whereas Shaheed Bhagat Singh College (SBSC) has both morning and evening colleges. At first, you will have to decide your preference for the timings. One of my friends graduated from Motilal Nehru College (Day) and has had flatmates studying in evening colleges. According to him their routines were completely different. So, the choice completely depends on you and which time of the day you are comfortable with. Motilal Nehru has a competent faculty, with spacious new buildings, library and good placements. They also have active societies such as Enactus, DebSoc, Archon Leadership Cell and others. Another benefit of being in Motilal is that it is located in the South Campus and is always crowded. This crowd attracts the building of proper hangout places. Its Satya Niketan market offers good places to eat and good coaching centers. On the other hand SBSC (E) would only give you the benefit because of its past reputation, good sports infrastructure and its proximity to Select City Walk. Therefore make an informed decision as this will be motivated towards the shaping of your career.Read more
