Faculty

The faculty in Daulat Ram college is pretty good for the course of b.com hons. For a class of about 50-60 students there are about 1-2 teachers assigned for each subject depending on the practical and tutorial elements. It is easily manageable for them and the students too. The faculties are approachable in matters of doubts, assignments and academic help. A few faculties that I have personally liked in my course are- Dr. Anjali Bennet ma'am. She is very cooperative and allows a lot of relaxation in case of deadlines. Eases the overall pressure on a student. Ghazala ma'am, took quite some effort to complete all the syllabus and practical work, beyond class times even though she is a guest faculty and joined late to the class. Himanshu Shekhar Sir, is deeply enrooted in his subject of Law and teaches very nicely. Isha Bhatt ma'am is also a very nice faculty. Explains well and is approachable. No particular faculty is as such to be disliked. But I wish they could interact with students more on their personal level regarding matters of mental health, academic pressure, etc. The core discipline specific subjects have two elements in the exam. The total marks is of 160. 90 marks are given by the end of semester exam. These are written exams and include full syllabus. The paper pattern is consistent and the exam difficultly varies year wise. But the PYQs are a real gem. You can use them to pass the exams well with good marks. Many students clear the exam with minimum but smart preparation. The course curriculum is also very relevant according to higher courses and exam pov. The other 70 marks are a given by IA and CA (internal assessment and continuous assessment) It includes a combination of test, assignments, presentation/practical exam, viva voce depending on the course curriculum, and attendance marks. You have to pass in IA and CA compulsorily.

Course Curriculum Overview

The b.com hons course of DU is highly relevant for higher education. It is a reputed course here in DU and holds great significance in further discourse. The curriculum is designed well according to real life market needs. The subjects like law, principles of marketing, financial management, business maths, accounting are highly relevant in higher studies. The practical component of these subjects like TALLY, EXCEL can be used in real life job roles. For me the curriculum is fit enough, and needs no major improvement. The frequency of assignments, tests keep you up with the syllabus and the end semester exams are hectic. It can be a little hectic but it is manageable with proper smart planning on important topics and relevance in exam pov. The difficulty level is moderate for the exams.

The total fee for the bcom hons course at MAIMS is approximately ?350000 for 3 years program. The fee structure is stable and not increasing , in fact it decreased over time. The college also provide scholarship support to EWS categroy students subject to eligibility and required documentation

Faculty

The faculty is mostly kind, supoortive and approachable . Many teachers are helpful and are willing to listen to students concerns. Examinations are conducted regularly and follow a fair pattern , with inrernal assessments helping students stay prepared

Campus Life

my overall campus life experience at MAIMS has been positive but academically focused . College has a discipline environment with a friendly peer group, making it easy to interact and build connections. In term of social life and clubs, MAIMS have student societies and club related to academic, cultural activities, and skill development. While the number of events are limited compared to larger universities. Infrastructure is decent and well maintained with clean classrooms, library, labs, and a safe campus environment.

Faculty

The faculty at Mahraja Agrasen institute of management studies is experienced, supportive, and approachable. Teachers focus on concept clarity through interactive lectures, presentations, and practical assignments. The course structure follow ggsipu guidelines and is well balanced between theory and practical learning. The exam and marking scheme include internal assessment( test, assignment, presentation, attendance) and end term semester university exams, ensuring fair evaluation.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure at Maharaja Agrasen College is quite affordable, especially compared to private colleges. For my course, the yearly fee is roughly around ?16000, which includes tuition fees, university charges, library fees, development fees, and other compulsory charges. There is also a one-time caution deposit taken at the time of admission, which is refundable at the end of the course. Overall, the total fee for the complete course comes to around ?55,000, depending on minor yearly revisions. As far as I have observed, the fees do not increase drastically every year since it's government college .Any increase is minimal and usually aligned with University of Delhi guidelines. Students from reserved categories like SC/ST generally pay lower fees as per university norms, and some charges may be waived for them. They can even avail scholarships. Scholarships and financial aid options are available, such as Merit-cum-Means scholarships, Delhi Government scholarships, and National Scholarships for eligible students. Many students apply for these through the official portals, and they are helpful for those who need financial support. All the notification regarding same is provided by college on official mail. Overall, the college is quite budget-friendly, and the fee structure feels reasonable for a DU college.

Faculty

The course structure follows the University of Delhi curriculum under NEP, which includes a mix of core subjects, electives, skill enhancement courses, and practical components. The syllabus is structured but requires self-study and consistency. Exams are conducted as per DU guidelines with internal assessments, assignments, presentations, and end-semester exams. The marking scheme is transparent, and scoring well depends on regular study, attendance, and internal performance. And the faculty members are good but may vary on course to course

So are class strength is 42 45 students the teachers student ratio is quite good I mean and when it comes to the relationship of between teacher and student it's nice but you know Burma permanent teachers are quite strict and they are very obedient about attendance so if you have in emergency or something like this they will never give you attendance yeah and name of my faculty I would not say the name and name of these you don't like I don't like they Lalita Mam and all teachers like they are the guest teacher so it doesn't even matter now how many exams on the course you have opted for like I have become honours so I give it exams and that include still in hands went course value addition course additional extra value course and 3 DSC.

Course Curriculum Overview

So basically my college teachers conscious commerce so yeah like course curriculum is basically given by UGC so we can't even ask questions about them Lake that's the choice and teaching method is quite ok you know you are from Delhi University and you expect so much from teachers but they are not truly involved in studying or making you study they are like they are doing something for the

Their are many annual fests organized by the college administration including freshers, farewell, technical, culture program, orientation, club ceremony etc. The library doesn't not provide a large and updated number if books. Their are 8 different student club in our college like cultural club, management club, technical club, social club etc. Their is also a sport club which hosts program like cricket tournament etc.

Faculty

The faculty to student ration could be 1:50. Student can easily approach to college faculty via phone calls or messages. I personally do like the account head teacher of our department because of their experienced teaching method and knowledge. Whereas some of the faculty teaching i personally don't like. There are mid-term exam twice for yearly students. The external paper is of 50 marks per subject.

Fees and Financial Aid

Umeschandra College is a public based university in Kolkata. I opted for Bachelor of commerce where I was having accountancy as my majors. As it is public university the course fees is very affordable for those candidates who don't want to compromise in their quality of study as well. The faculty is very supportive, very approachable. They don't have any lab or student aid as such.

Faculty

The College only had one faculty that is faculty of commerce. The best part of studying there was the faculty used to know us by name and they used to do our SWAT analysis. The faculty to student ratio was 1:50. The faculty I really liked was International business, accounting. There used to be one internal test every semester. Student passing the exams ratio was really high.

Fees and Financial Aid

For one year it's 25000 and maybe afterward it increases. With this it includes Form fees as well as your other cost of living. No scholarship in my knowledge is known. The infrastructure is good but the area is small. Talking about placement you need some extra skills not just your course would be enough. Prepare yourself since beginning. Don't join extra societies which give no output. Be updated for placement cells and apply for internship in campus off campus both.

Faculty

The faculty to student ratio is reasonable allowing for decent interaction. Swati Ma'am from the Commerce Department is an exceptionally well I liked her due to her clarity in teaching complex management concepts and her willingness to assist.

Fees and Financial Aid

For commerce, the normal yearly fee is only 15,000 rupees. For students with quota like OBC,SC/ST, it may get even lower and discounted. In my first year, I paid 14,500. In the second year, I paid 15,000 and in my final year, I paid 18,000. So, It does increase by 2000-3000 rupees every year depending on your course and if you have taken up anything extra as well. There is no such other fee but if you are a commerce student, you may have to give some fee around 1800 for The Commerce Association if you want to attend commerce events. All in all, I believe Gargi is very affordable, especially for students looking for government colleges with good facilities.

Faculty

The faculty is extremely qualified with each one having a doctorate in their respective subjects. Most of them are quite good but some of them can be a little intimidating at times. I think as the semesters pass, it gets a little more tense in terms of tests and internals. Exams are moderate level.

Course Curriculum Overview

BCom (Hons) curriculum is highly relevant and fairly comprehensive, with strong papers in accounting, business law, economics and taxation that influenced my decision to choose this course because they align well with careers in finance and professional exams like CA and CS. It builds solid conceptual foundations for further studies and real-world roles, but practical exposure through internships, accounting software and case studies should be increased, along with more interactive, discussion-based teaching. Exams are usually held each semester; they are moderately difficult because of the wide syllabus and tight schedule, which demand consistent preparation and good time management.

Campus Life

The major fest of our college is Manjari which is of 3 days . Library has plenty of books but it lacks latest novel and self help books. Classrooms are average not too fancy and not too broken. Fees and Financial Aid

So basicially when I took the admission out in 2021 the fee set is designed as 94,000 for the first year 96,000 for the secod one and for the final year they charge around 98,000. Moreover of that you need to pay even the amout of the files you need to make in each year marking it compuslary by the management. For now the fee structure is been increasing every year as they took now 98,000 for the first and the increment of 2000 every coming year of the course. Also they hold 10K at the very start as the security depositt from the fee which gets returned after the completion of the entire curriculam.

Faculty

Faculty student ratio is supposed to be like 50:1 means at the class of 50 students there will be 1 faculty assigned. Exam system is supposed to be like this you had this one mid-term examinations in the span of 3 months then on the 6th month you'll have your end term for the same. GLA has a mandate rule of acccepting the staff only if they hold the certification of Net- JRF so which will make the faculty highly trained enough.

Faculty

The faculty-to-student ratio in the college is about 1:60. Classes are large, but teachers are friendly and approachable. Students can ask doubts during or after class. Teachers are supportive and help students with studies, assignments, and exams. Most teachers are experienced and teach well. Classes are not boring because teachers use presentations, discussions, workshops, and class tests. They explain topics clearly and help students understand concepts easily. Overall, the teaching quality is good. The course structure follows Delhi University rules. Marks are given through Continuous Assessment (CA) and Internal Assessment (IA). In Continuous Assessment, students give presentations, assignments, and tests. In Internal Assessment, marks are mainly for tests and assignments. Attendance carries 11 marks, so regular attendance is important. There are end-semester exams every semester. Exams are of medium difficulty. Most students pass if they attend classes and study properly. The course is useful for commerce students, but more practical learning would make it better.

Fees and Financial Aid

I am studying B.Com (Hons) at Daulat Ram College, Delhi University. The yearly fee for this course is around ?34,600, which is slightly higher compared to many other DU colleges offering the same course. The fee is paid every year and remains almost the same for all three years. The total fee for the three-year course comes to about ?1.03 lakh. This amount includes tuition fees, registration and admission charges, development fees, library and lab fees, and other compulsory college charges. The fees is same for all the categories and a bit of relaxation is given to Kasmiri migrants and people from PWD categories . Various scholarships schemes are available, such as merit-cum-means scholarships, Delhi University scholarships, and government scholarships through the National Scholarship Portal and students can go for it after registering on the particular websites .

The faculty ratio in drc differs by departments, but on an average it feels like one teacher for every 30-40 students is there. The things I genuinely liked the most in teachers is encouraging students to ask questions specially during tutorial, remember students by face even when there are a lot of students. Two major exams per year 1. Mid-semester 2. End-semester exams. DU exams looks scary but are manageable if you study regularly.. People fail only if they skip classes or don’t submit internals.

Fees and Financial Aid

Since I m from general category I can't apply for any fee concession,my fees is approximately 34-36k per year for bcom hons. If you apply for scholarships like for general category NSP(national scholarship portal) scholarship is there which I have applied this year but he amount I am getting as compared to the other category is quite less. Also drc has a number of scholarship for economically weaker section. Overall as per the fees, it's a good college. I m totally satisfied

Ques. Which course is better: B. Commerce Hons or BA Economics Hons from DU?

● Top Answer By Divjot Bagga on 06 Oct 22

Ans. The answer to this question will rely on your future goals, what you compassionately dream of doing, and what you believe you will truly like. However, Economics Honors from DU is one of the best courses with exceptional scope and value in the corporate world. Everyone is aware that the University of Delhi's most prestigious course is Economics Hons. Rapidly rising cutoffs provide proof of this.  Additionally, compared to other courses, it offers higher placement prospects. Nevertheless, immense power entails great responsibility. It's not the kind of subject you can get by with just one night of studying. It necessitates commitment and diligence. Additionally, it is the most challenging course the university offers. So, BA Economics is the best option for anyone who is keenly interested in the subject.  BA Economics(Hons) is DU's most difficult yet prestigious course. As a result, if you are in the unreserved category, you will need a higher percentage. Try to get a score of 90% or higher to get into DU, and 95% or higher to get into DU's good colleges. In the end, it all comes down to your score.Read more

Ques. What is the passing criteria for B.Com (H) year 1 SOl DU?

● Top Answer By Sanjana Kapoor on 06 Oct 23

Ans. SOl DU’s first year exam of B.com isn't as tough as you might think. A few criteria for passing the first-semester exam are as follows:  To clear your first year, you need to score at least 33% in every subject, out of a total of 75 marks. Sounds doable, As long as you hit that 33% mark in each subject, you're on track to successfully move forward in your academic journey. Now, let's talk about the "what if." If, unfortunately, you score below 33% in any one subject, don't worry too much. You won't have to repeat the entire year. Instead, you'll need to give an ER (Essential Repeat) the following year, which is your second year. Here's the trick - try to aim for an ER in as few subjects as possible. If you have to give an ER for more than four subjects, then, yes, you'll have to repeat the entire year. So, as you dive into your first year, remember that success is within your reach. Stay focused, study hard, and aim for those 33% scores. Read more

Ans. Shaheed Bhagat Singh College (SBSC) is well known for its commerce courses. It is considered the best commerce college of Delhi University. B.Com is really good here with proper academics and placement records. SBSC always had higher cut offs, so the students getting admission there are some of the brilliant minds of the country. Their cut off usually ranges from 94–96.5% for the general category for B.Com. Even with the higher cut offs, their placement record never seemed to hit the bottom. Ques. Which DU college is better, Ramjas or Sri Venkateswara for B.Com?

● Top Answer By Samiksha Madan on 21 Jan 22

Ans. Both Ramjas and Sri Venkateswara are reputed colleges under Delhi University. According to the reviews online Sri Venkateswara (SVC) is better when it comes to commerce than Ramjas. SVC has better placements, faculty and overall exposure. Both colleges are very much involved in cultural activities and extracurriculars. If you are willing to opt for a science course then go for Ramjas, Commerce is better in SVC. They both have no strict rules to maintain a 75% attendance, you should just have enough to sit for the internals. Students who are unable to sit in the internals due to their involvement in clubs and societies have to submit an ECA to their teacher. This is possible in both the colleges. Ramjas has a better infrastructure than SVC. But all these do not matter much, if you are dedicated to your studies, you can succeed in any college. Ques. Should I go for B.Com (P) from Motilal Nehru College or Shaheed Bhagat Singh (E) College?

● Top Answer By Ria Arora on 13 Jan 22

Ans. Motilal Nehru is a morning college whereas Shaheed Bhagat Singh College (SBSC) has both morning and evening colleges. At first, you will have to decide your preference for the timings. One of my friends graduated from Motilal Nehru College (Day) and has had flatmates studying in evening colleges. According to him their routines were completely different. So, the choice completely depends on you and which time of the day you are comfortable with. Motilal Nehru has a competent faculty, with spacious new buildings, library and good placements. They also have active societies such as Enactus, DebSoc, Archon Leadership Cell and others. Another benefit of being in Motilal is that it is located in the South Campus and is always crowded. This crowd attracts the building of proper hangout places. Its Satya Niketan market offers good places to eat and good coaching centers. On the other hand SBSC (E) would only give you the benefit because of its past reputation, good sports infrastructure and its proximity to Select City Walk. Therefore make an informed decision as this will be motivated towards the shaping of your career.Read more
