Faculty

The faculty members are really helpful and supportive to students. I can't say that I don't like the faculties or any particular faculty. I like all the faculty working here , both handling and non handling. About the exams there are three CIA's and one mid sem and one end sem. If you fail in mid sems you have to write supplementary exams and clear them. If you study exams will be easy. If you dont it will be like hell.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course curriculum is very relevant. The university updates the curriculum according to world standards. It has all basic necessity is like basic subjects like accountancy, economics, commerce, business mathematics etc. The university also offers many courses related to artificial intelligence which is much required in this generation

The most important reason for picking this college was cultural environment and clubs. I am in various clubs where I participate in more events so that I get a lot of connections and exposure which enhances my Skills. The library is very good. It is a great place to study as it is very silent. It has most of the books. This is one of the biggest library I have ever seen. There are two libraries one for the UG students and one for the Pg. The pg library provides even locker facilities for students to keep their Things safely. The infrastructure is so good, has all the labs, all sports facilities and everything.

Placement Experience

Students starts getting internships from the second year, mostly the firms which hire people for internships make them get placed after they graduate. Also, there will be a summer internship program during the summer holiday days after the second year which is mandatory almost 70 to 80% of the final years get placed either a big firm or a small firm. The minimum requirement for applying for placements is 60 percentage for most of the companies and 75 percentage for few companies. From the fourth semester, students are eligible to planning to pursue MBA after my UG

My college take fee around 15675 for total one year. And if you are comes under any category then your fee is less than the general student. In this fees all other fees are included like development fees, library fees and other compulsory charges of the college are included. And college don't provide any type of scholarship but university provide scholarship for those students whose parents income is less than 2 lakh

Faculty

In my college faculty is very good all the professor of the faculty is experienced and all are friendly behaviour. Also faculty of commerce stream is very good among all the other faculty of the college. Some faculty teacher are behaving like your friends and they are very kindly behaviour

Certainly the best campus in terms of greenery. The small garden at the backyard also has some gym equipments and girls are seen doing exercises there. We have gardens that boasts level playing and also we have many sports facilities and sitting areas at the campus. Departmental blocks are well divided and are clean and tidy always. Our annual fest Tarang has garnered eye balla for years and many great stars have been a part of our fests.

Faculty

Faculties of LSR has firmly established themselves as one of the finest teachers one will ever find. The labels of being the best and making the best come out of students was already stucked with them and I must say they are more than capable of doing it as they have been doing it for decades now. Out of all the faculties that our branch has Pooja Heda madam is favourite of mine by some distance.

They are many events taking place all the year. 'MANJARI' the annual fest of Daulat Ram College that takes place in February almost every year and other societies also organise their events and also dandiya night is there in the scene that ofcourse takes place during navratri and other events namely Bollywood day and ethnic day . Almost all the classroom are big and spacios with good ventilation. The library is also very good with almost all the books available in the library which can be issued with library membership. Sports is really nice I am a part of NSO (National sports organization) in which we have to go play every saturaday you can also go on other days. Also the sports club is good that conducts various events. There are many societies in the college to name some are debsoc the debating society, Anhad Indian dance society , spicmacay , placement cell, women development cell, cyber cell, spectra art society and many more.

Faculty

The faculties are really nice be it commerce, humanities or science all are good. As I am a commerce student I will tell more about my faculty. So the commerce faculty is good with nice proffesors and also a union commerce faculty known as 'commenur'. The frequency of exams is twice in a year with internals on the mid and mid sem examination or tests. The passing percentage is quiet good almost all the students pass except those who didn't appear. The exams are not very difficult. B Com students also have to study and practice on the latest accounting software followed by a practical examination.

Course Curriculum Overview

I choose my course because I was very impressed by the BCom and I wanted to study commerce. It will help me in my future and for my upcoming life because commerce helps in every sector, including finance and investments. in my college, the teaching is very good, but due to the proper sitting, arrangement and lack of responsibilities between the teachers affect the teaching. the timing of exams are not very accurate but they are held by the universities, so we cannot decide the timing, but the difficulty level of the exam is moderate, but it will increase as per semester. I love my course.

Campus Life

I am in first year in my college never seen the annual function in this, but soon I will be then I will tell about that. The range and accessibility Library are very good, And technological provisions within the classrooms are not very good because the teacher teachers in the blackboard with the help of a marker offered in interest are not very good yeah, they are just good. There is no student run social groups, clubs, or student portal in my college, so it does not impact their student life.

Faculty

The favulty members are quiet great. All the teachers are very well educated, have done their Phd or are doing. All of them are very helpful. The ratio is also good. I can tell about my department, ie the Commerce department. The HOD is helpful, the subject teachers are helpful and they are very experienced. I am very satisfied with the faculty members. There are mainly semester end exams and internals. In internals there are 2 parts namely IA and CA - internal assessment and fontinuos assessment. It depends on teachers how they take it but mainly they are in kind of tests, presentations, group work etc.

Fees and Financial Aid

The total fees for bcom hons that i paid for 1st year was Rs.33,500 and that of 2nd year was about Rs. 22000. Examination fees which ranges between Rs.1000-2000 that you have to pay for every semester end exams. As fas as the financial aid is concerned, the college provides financial aid for students with low family income. They need income certificate for that and also they jave to fulfil certain criterias like attendance and minimum cgpa.

Course Curriculum Overview

The main reason of choosing this course I want to become Chartered Accountant and i love this specific field. That's why I choose to do B.Com The curriculum of B.Com course connect me with real world. Now I am able to understand the various concepts of banking , business etc. Now I am also able to invest in securities market , share market and in foreign market also. So it helps me a lot. The teachers should improve their teaching methods according to me. Exams held once in a year . We called them annual exams and the difficulty level of exam is easy to moderate . You can easily attempt the exam if you have attend the regular classes.

Faculty

There is 1 faculty for 12 students. Teacher's are very supportive . They will help you personally. The faculty that is like most was Dr. Mridula Mam . She was the head of our department and trust me she is very kind hearted women. She is very talented. But all faculties are good. The faculty that i dont like was Shalini mam because she is very lazy and always ignore to take lectures and if she will come in class she will share her personal life only. Exams are conducted once in a year and the level of exams was moderate. Mostly 90% students get passed.

Jmc's annual fest Montage is held during March. It's a two day fest. The artist lineup has significantly deteriorated after covid, due to some restrictions from management and board. Overall, the student council is trying to bring indie artists onboard. All the other departmental fests are spread accross the calender. Other festive fests like Sparsh is held during Diwali time. We also have Garba fest, introduced this year at JMC. JMC is very famous for its mega 2 storey library, with variety of collections spanning accross various genres, themes and Era. You can get almost every book, journal, magazine, informational books, etc here. Our classrooms are equipped with projectors. Some classrooms are now equipped with Air conditioning facilities. Projectors usually work in all the classrooms. Apart from this, there is an Audio Visual room, equipped with speakers, projectors, mics, etc. We also have Seminar rooms, halls, and Computer labs, Sports room, open Common Room, amphitheatres, etc. JMC is very famous for its Thevenet Hall, equipped with Air conditioners, spotlights, and other well maintained infrastructure. Sports department is fairly active at JMC, with their own departmental competitions, and a separate dedicated space for them. Students train in Fencing, Basketball, hockey, football, etc. Sports day is one of the major days in sports calender. A seperate Gym trainer is also available with proper gym equipments, and facilities. We also have Gym Parks, vast gardens, and a football field ground. There are various departmental clubs, societies, which conduct various events, competitions. Green, Peace, National Social Service society is also there. We also have NCC for students interested to become National Cadet Corps, or pursue Indian Army, military, etc as a career.

Course Curriculum Overview

The curriculum is designed in such a manner that it touches upon every aspect of Commerce field, that is Finance, Marketing, Human Resource Management, Organisational Structure, etc. Sometimes the subjects are repetitive, therefore some credits are wasted. And sometimes the subjects are set in such a manner, that their order of learning is disorganised. But, overall the curriculum is well set, academic wise. The additional subjects help you dive into the professional world by providing internship opportunities. We also get the opportunity to work in Community outreach projects, social work, and environmental projects. Apart from it, we can choose a minor subject, from a pool of subjects apart from our curriculum subjects. The teaching methods can be improved by including more of presentations, audio visual methods, etc. The curriculum should include more of subjects which are new and relevant to the upcoming generation and the changing professional world. Frequency of exams is at the end of the every semester, we have one final exam for every subjects. During the entire 4-5 months of each semester, we engage in various internal and continuous assessment components like test, viva, practicals, presentations, projects, assignements, etc.

The students n teacher relationship is good whatever we had doubt we can ask them directly according to the department wise teachers .the ratio of the faculties and students will be approx 10:100 As it is commerce college it has many students many section many honours .While i was in college i used to like the accounting faculty members ,they were good supportive and were always willing to help the department head Sailen Gogoi is a good person who is now promoted to vice principal . One of the faculty i dont like was a temporary teacher he had much ego in him while we ask something he will reply rudely to the boys but to girls he will reply them politely way. Before a semester year which is of 6 month we give two test and one final sem exam so in a year it will be 6 exams and sometimes the paper is hard sometimes easy so therefore some students fail in the final

Fees and Financial Aid

in a year there will be two semester, so for the odd semester like 1,3,5 we give admission fees and the fee structure is different for income certifacate under 1 lakhs or bpl card holders .In 1 st sem i paid approx 7 thousand and in 3 rd sem i paid around 8 thousand and in 5 th sem also same . Bpl card holders get their admission under 1000. In graduation we can apply different type of scholarspis as it is north east region many schemes come every year

Ques. Which course is better: B. Commerce Hons or BA Economics Hons from DU?

● Top Answer By Divjot Bagga on 06 Oct 22

Ans. The answer to this question will rely on your future goals, what you compassionately dream of doing, and what you believe you will truly like. However, Economics Honors from DU is one of the best courses with exceptional scope and value in the corporate world. Everyone is aware that the University of Delhi's most prestigious course is Economics Hons. Rapidly rising cutoffs provide proof of this.  Additionally, compared to other courses, it offers higher placement prospects. Nevertheless, immense power entails great responsibility. It's not the kind of subject you can get by with just one night of studying. It necessitates commitment and diligence. Additionally, it is the most challenging course the university offers. So, BA Economics is the best option for anyone who is keenly interested in the subject.  BA Economics(Hons) is DU's most difficult yet prestigious course. As a result, if you are in the unreserved category, you will need a higher percentage. Try to get a score of 90% or higher to get into DU, and 95% or higher to get into DU's good colleges. In the end, it all comes down to your score.Read more

Ques. What is the passing criteria for B.Com (H) year 1 SOl DU?

● Top Answer By Sanjana Kapoor on 06 Oct 23

Ans. SOl DU’s first year exam of B.com isn't as tough as you might think. A few criteria for passing the first-semester exam are as follows:  To clear your first year, you need to score at least 33% in every subject, out of a total of 75 marks. Sounds doable, As long as you hit that 33% mark in each subject, you're on track to successfully move forward in your academic journey. Now, let's talk about the "what if." If, unfortunately, you score below 33% in any one subject, don't worry too much. You won't have to repeat the entire year. Instead, you'll need to give an ER (Essential Repeat) the following year, which is your second year. Here's the trick - try to aim for an ER in as few subjects as possible. If you have to give an ER for more than four subjects, then, yes, you'll have to repeat the entire year. So, as you dive into your first year, remember that success is within your reach. Stay focused, study hard, and aim for those 33% scores. Read more

Ques. Which DU college is better, Ramjas or Sri Venkateswara for B.Com?

● Top Answer By Samiksha Madan on 21 Jan 22

Ans. Both Ramjas and Sri Venkateswara are reputed colleges under Delhi University. According to the reviews online Sri Venkateswara (SVC) is better when it comes to commerce than Ramjas. SVC has better placements, faculty and overall exposure. Both colleges are very much involved in cultural activities and extracurriculars. If you are willing to opt for a science course then go for Ramjas, Commerce is better in SVC. They both have no strict rules to maintain a 75% attendance, you should just have enough to sit for the internals. Students who are unable to sit in the internals due to their involvement in clubs and societies have to submit an ECA to their teacher. This is possible in both the colleges. Ramjas has a better infrastructure than SVC. But all these do not matter much, if you are dedicated to your studies, you can succeed in any college. Ques. Should I go for B.Com (P) from Motilal Nehru College or Shaheed Bhagat Singh (E) College?

● Top Answer By Ria Arora on 13 Jan 22

Ans. Motilal Nehru is a morning college whereas Shaheed Bhagat Singh College (SBSC) has both morning and evening colleges. At first, you will have to decide your preference for the timings. One of my friends graduated from Motilal Nehru College (Day) and has had flatmates studying in evening colleges. According to him their routines were completely different. So, the choice completely depends on you and which time of the day you are comfortable with. Motilal Nehru has a competent faculty, with spacious new buildings, library and good placements. They also have active societies such as Enactus, DebSoc, Archon Leadership Cell and others. Another benefit of being in Motilal is that it is located in the South Campus and is always crowded. This crowd attracts the building of proper hangout places. Its Satya Niketan market offers good places to eat and good coaching centers. On the other hand SBSC (E) would only give you the benefit because of its past reputation, good sports infrastructure and its proximity to Select City Walk. Therefore make an informed decision as this will be motivated towards the shaping of your career.Read more
