Fees and Financial Aid

When I took admission, I paid around 10,525 in total for the first year. That included everything — tuition fee, admission and registration charges, development fee, and then all the usual stuff like library, exam fees, ID card, union fund, and caution money. From second year onwards, now for the basic tuition fee, and some regular admin stuff — around 9000 to 10000 per year. So by the time I finish my degree, the total fee I’ll have paid will be somewhere around 30000-32000. I’m from the General - EWS category, so I didn’t get any automatic fee waiver. But I know a few of my batchmates from SC/ST and PwD categories, and their tuition fees are completely waived — their total yearly fee is honestly less than 1,000 only.

Faculty

The faculty-student ratio in my college is decent, and most teachers are approachable if you’re regular and ask doubts. Some faculties are genuinely good Our course structure is mostly relevant, especially for fields like CA or MBA, but a few topics still feel outdated. We usually have 2 internals and 1 final exam per subject. Finals are out of 75 marks, internals are 25. Exams aren’t too hard if you’re consistent, but last-minute study can be risky. Very few students actually fail ,mostly due to attendance issues or not preparing at all.

I think so There should be more practical knowledge like meeting the industry working there gain experience at all Timings is not good at all like they schedule exam in the hot summer or the most coldest winter

Faculty

The faculty of my department is quite knowledgeable; they all have a very strong foundation in their subject and are very supportive if you reach out to them. But the professors are focused more on the traditional way of teaching and provide theoretical knowledge rather than giving us practical insight. However, the faculty conducts workshops on various topics on a regular basis which can be helpful.

Course Curriculum Overview

The curriculum is more inclined towards a theoretical side and lacks practical exposure. In the present scenario, having practical knowledge is a must if you want to survive in the industry, which my college didn't prepare me for. However, there are various opportunities across the campus. We have AIC inside the campus, which may offer an internship to the students if they reach out to them.

There was a lack of enough faculty members but still the those present were quite knowledgeable and helpful. There were good faculty- student relationships. Some of the faculties were great at what they do. The examination system was good with regular tests to improve student's capabilities. The course curriculum as per the university was followed and practical aspects to it were also kept in mind while teaching.

Campus Life

There were frequent events that happend every year like Matrix which invited various schools to compete in different activities. The clubs were actually not frequently active which lead to less student engagement. The Library was well maintained but lacked a few subject books. Sports was also not quite impressive and the students wree often disappointed

Course Curriculum Overview

I’d rate the BCom Hons course curriculum at SBSC around 7 out of 10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness. One of the main reasons I chose this course was because it offers a good mix of commerce subjects like Financial Accounting, Business Law, and Corporate Law, along with exposure to Economics and Management, which seemed useful whether I go for MBA or competitive exams later. The first-year subjects felt more like a base, but from second semester onward it started to get a bit more practical. Each subject has 25 marks for internals and 75 for the main exam. Most exams are 3 hours long and subjective, and I’d say the difficulty level is moderate. If you’ve been regular with notes and study the past papers, it’s not hard to pass, but getting 8+ CGPA requires consistent effort. Overall, the curriculum gives a decent foundation but it could be way better if more practical components and industry exposure were added.

Campus Life

My overall experience with campus life at SBSC has been pretty fun and memorable so far. Socially, the vibe is super chill – people are generally friendly, and it’s easy to make friends both in class and through societies. The crowd is mixed – you’ll find serious toppers, laid-back chillers, artists, dancers, and literally every type of student, which makes it easy to find your tribe. I joined the dance society here and honestly, that’s been the best part of college for me – we practice regularly, get to travel for competitions, and it gives a break from the regular academic pressure. Apart from that, there are active societies for dramatics, commerce, debating, and even niche clubs like quizzing and poetry. Fests like Crescendo are a big deal and it’s fun to see the campus buzzing with food stalls

Faculty

The faculty to student ratio may differ. The faculties are not really approachable. The faculties I like are arts, geography. The faculty I don't like is commerce, it does not really provide many basic amenities, like elevator, and the teaching staff is not really good, The exam structure for the 3yr graduation students is like 6 semesters in 3years, and 2 semesters per year, and the marking structure is like 70 (internals) and 30 (external). In each semester we have 6 papers. And in the 6th semester we get to choose an elective paper too.

Campus Life

Overall experience is not good, the festivals yes they are there, but personally in my college we don't really get to access books out of our course. The technological provision in classrooms are not good, we don't have educomps in the classrooms.Sports and extracurricular activities are not really there much. And there aren't much social groups too.

Campus Life

The campus is very large and convenient to move around. It consists of a small park, a library, around 4 computer labs, an outdoor lawn tennis and basketball court, a large ground for cricket and football, a gym for children involved in sports activities, a music room, a very big and well-maintained auditorium, a small waiting area named ‘Jannat’. There is also a branch of Punjab N Sind Bank in the college campus. The campus life is average. It is good for students who just want to study and get involved in some of the society activities. The college also provides option to enter the National Cadet Corps (NCC). Overall, it is a great experience. The college also conducts an annual Cultural Fest named LASHKARA

Course Curriculum Overview

I had chosen the Honors course in Bachelor of Commerce. The Common University Entrance Test cutoff score ranges from 760-770 for general category. The faculty is very interactive and readily available to solve all the queries. There are 2 semester exams conducted in a year. Attendance is not an issue here. But, not being readily present in class affects the internal marks (out of 70). The written paper is of 90 marks. The professors generally give very big assignments (about 20-30 pages) thrice a semester. This gives us adequate learning and research skills. The curriculum consists of real life rules and regulations and principles which are currently being applied in the commercial world.

?15k per year ? For differeng cpurses the fee structure is different for Couses like BSc (Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry, Electronics) which have more practicals, their yearly fee is between 16-20 k. Additionally every student have to give a registration fee of 1.2k to 1.8k (depending on the papers) every semester. ? Student comping from EWS or ST SC category have an option to opt for schlorship. The college provide some money for books and fees. ? Any student who have topped the semester in his/her course receive an amount of 1.5k-2k as prize.

Course Curriculum Overview

? Placement Chances in BCom or BA(Economics) are better than any other courses. ? More than Cirriculum its the societies that gives Exposer to meet new people express your ability work in a team etc. ? Faculty focuses on just completing the course syllabus timely rather than actually understanding whether the student has gathered previous lessons. This can be improved. ? Every 6 months there are semester exam. Its a pattern that some paper will be easy and a few will be of medium or hard difficulty.

Ques. Which course is better: B. Commerce Hons or BA Economics Hons from DU?

● Top Answer By Divjot Bagga on 06 Oct 22

Ans. The answer to this question will rely on your future goals, what you compassionately dream of doing, and what you believe you will truly like. However, Economics Honors from DU is one of the best courses with exceptional scope and value in the corporate world. Everyone is aware that the University of Delhi's most prestigious course is Economics Hons. Rapidly rising cutoffs provide proof of this.  Additionally, compared to other courses, it offers higher placement prospects. Nevertheless, immense power entails great responsibility. It's not the kind of subject you can get by with just one night of studying. It necessitates commitment and diligence. Additionally, it is the most challenging course the university offers. So, BA Economics is the best option for anyone who is keenly interested in the subject.  BA Economics(Hons) is DU's most difficult yet prestigious course. As a result, if you are in the unreserved category, you will need a higher percentage. Try to get a score of 90% or higher to get into DU, and 95% or higher to get into DU's good colleges. In the end, it all comes down to your score.Read more

Ques. What is the passing criteria for B.Com (H) year 1 SOl DU?

● Top Answer By Sanjana Kapoor on 06 Oct 23

Ans. SOl DU’s first year exam of B.com isn't as tough as you might think. A few criteria for passing the first-semester exam are as follows:  To clear your first year, you need to score at least 33% in every subject, out of a total of 75 marks. Sounds doable, As long as you hit that 33% mark in each subject, you're on track to successfully move forward in your academic journey. Now, let's talk about the "what if." If, unfortunately, you score below 33% in any one subject, don't worry too much. You won't have to repeat the entire year. Instead, you'll need to give an ER (Essential Repeat) the following year, which is your second year. Here's the trick - try to aim for an ER in as few subjects as possible. If you have to give an ER for more than four subjects, then, yes, you'll have to repeat the entire year. So, as you dive into your first year, remember that success is within your reach. Stay focused, study hard, and aim for those 33% scores. Read more

Ques. Which DU college is better, Ramjas or Sri Venkateswara for B.Com?

● Top Answer By Samiksha Madan on 21 Jan 22

Ans. Both Ramjas and Sri Venkateswara are reputed colleges under Delhi University. According to the reviews online Sri Venkateswara (SVC) is better when it comes to commerce than Ramjas. SVC has better placements, faculty and overall exposure. Both colleges are very much involved in cultural activities and extracurriculars. If you are willing to opt for a science course then go for Ramjas, Commerce is better in SVC. They both have no strict rules to maintain a 75% attendance, you should just have enough to sit for the internals. Students who are unable to sit in the internals due to their involvement in clubs and societies have to submit an ECA to their teacher. This is possible in both the colleges. Ramjas has a better infrastructure than SVC. But all these do not matter much, if you are dedicated to your studies, you can succeed in any college. Ques. Should I go for B.Com (P) from Motilal Nehru College or Shaheed Bhagat Singh (E) College?

● Top Answer By Ria Arora on 13 Jan 22

Ans. Motilal Nehru is a morning college whereas Shaheed Bhagat Singh College (SBSC) has both morning and evening colleges. At first, you will have to decide your preference for the timings. One of my friends graduated from Motilal Nehru College (Day) and has had flatmates studying in evening colleges. According to him their routines were completely different. So, the choice completely depends on you and which time of the day you are comfortable with. Motilal Nehru has a competent faculty, with spacious new buildings, library and good placements. They also have active societies such as Enactus, DebSoc, Archon Leadership Cell and others. Another benefit of being in Motilal is that it is located in the South Campus and is always crowded. This crowd attracts the building of proper hangout places. Its Satya Niketan market offers good places to eat and good coaching centers. On the other hand SBSC (E) would only give you the benefit because of its past reputation, good sports infrastructure and its proximity to Select City Walk. Therefore make an informed decision as this will be motivated towards the shaping of your career.Read more
