Likes

BHU is known for its campus, and it is top notch. It is spread across almost 1300 acres and is full of greenery.
As the university offers various disciplines, you get to interact with the students of other departments which helps in enhancing your network and you get to learn a lot about other fields too.

Dislikes

The curriculum of BHU is more theoretically inclined and lacks practical aspect. My department doesn't offer any internship opportunities neither we were given any group projects or any research work during our graduation.

Course Curriculum Overview

The curriculum is more inclined towards a theoretical side and lacks practical exposure. In the present scenario, having practical knowledge is a must if you want to survive in the industry, which my college didn't prepare me for. However, there are various opportunities across the campus. We have AIC inside the campus, which may offer an internship to the students if they reach out to them.

Class Size: 360Course Fees: INR 2000 per year

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee for different courses may vary; mine was approximately 2000/yr, which we must pay in 2 installments. The hostel fee is about 6500 a year, and at the time of admission, we must pay a caution money of around 2000, which is refundable after your graduation.

Campus Life

Every department has its societies and clubs, and students from other department can also join them, which allows us to interact with the students of various departments. As for sports, you have ample opportunities, there are all kinds of sports and you can join whichevere of them you like. There is an overnight library facility available for the students, and an in-campus Wi-Fi facility.

Hostel Facilities

Not all students get a hostel as the seats are limited. Fortunately, I was able to get a hostel on campus. The allotment procedure is based on a combination of merit and the distance from your home. The mess food quality is quite good; you won't generally find such in other universities.

Hostel Fee: INR 6000 per year

Admission

The university takes admission through an all-India test called CUET, conducted by UGC every year. You need to take the test in the required domain as per the eligibility citeria of the course you are interested in opting. I choose this university because of its prestige and legacy, it is quite affordable as well. I was fortunate enough to get admission there.

Faculty

The faculty of my department is quite knowledgeable; they all have a very strong foundation in their subject and are very supportive if you reach out to them. But the professors are focused more on the traditional way of teaching and provide theoretical knowledge rather than giving us practical insight. However, the faculty conducts workshops on various topics on a regular basis which can be helpful.

Night Life

We have a temple inside the campus, which is a tourist attraction; it's a good hangout place for the students. As the campus is spread across a large area, most of it gets deserted past 10 at night, but there are a few places where you can still hang out. As per my experience, I felt the campus was pretty safe and the guards do regular patrolling at night, but there have been a few incidents in the past.

Campus placement starts from 5 th semester . Companies visited are : IBM, COCA COLA, ICICI bank. Highest package is 1 crore Avarage is 250000 plans after getting the degree to get a good job at MNC After completing my B.Com honours, I plan to pursue a career in finance or accounting. I’m interested in gaining industry experience through a job in a reputed firm while preparing for professional certifications like CA, CFA, or MBA to deepen my knowledge and open up more opportunities. My long-term goal is to hold a managerial position in the financial sector.

Best Days of My life is college Days

I choose this course of bachelors in commerce because I took commerce in 12 and I have a great interest in taxes , stocks and shares that's why I have selected this course . Faculty of my college is the best I have found ever they are always ready to clear your doubt and I like the way they tought us ..Its been 5 years from now and I still remember the things I learned in my class .we only have a batch of 65 students in class due to which its quiet comfortable to sit and to understand things easily. All our faculty teachers are studied from Delhi University and all are government lecterures they are highly qualified with great knowledge and the way they teach is amazing and totally different from others . Every Saturday they take exam to see that student is learning or not and after that weekly test they judge the student to whom they have to focus little bit more and they take exams after every 4 th month and its not difficult at all to pass because every weekly test make you perfect

What makes the Asia's biggest residential university one of the best?

I applied in the Central University of South Bihar for the same course and got selected there too. The reason for choosing Banaras Hindu University over Central University of South Bihar was that CUSB was comparatively newer than BHU. BHU has a well established name in the field of law. Its location is also very spiritual and the people are very nice over here. The lush green and vast campus of BHU gives it edge of CUSB. Plus the faculty of BHU is definitely better than CUSB. The admission process is very simple. If you have cleared the cutoff then you have to pay the course fees. IAS BHU - malviya jee ki bagiya

There are many other agricultural universities in India including iari that are considered the aiims of agriculture but the fact that BHU offers other activities also like sports and music, dance, athelete and many more things that help to develop your overall persona rather than just relying on grades and scores. Definitely iari is good but the course of bachelors is comparatively new there being 3 years old it started back in 2022 only, i would say iari is good for masters and PhD but for bachelors there is not a single competition of bhu in India. You've to give CUET as the entrance exam for bhu agriculture if you're an Indian and you've 55% score in your 12th with subject combination pcb,pcm or abc then you're eligible. Cutoff is definitely high for bhu as it is the top ranked university in India so you've to work accordingly. After exam results are out the admission process is so smooth....Read More

A decent campus life, with scope of improvement

The eligibility criteria for my course bsc (botany hons) is to have pcb in your 12th and then to give CUET exam, after clearing the exam you will get allotted into the different biology courses according to your cuet marks. The cutoff for bsc is higher than arts. Then you have to verify physically in the college for admission process before that you have to register for the course online and the registration fees is 500/- I have also applied in Delhi University but i didn't chose because of cost living. As living in Delhi is so much expensive as compared to here also the campus life is more exciting here and the facilities provided here is more.
