Q: What are the passing criteria for in the AKTU semester?

AKTU passing criteria in a semester is 30 out of 100 15 out of 50 This is only for the external exams. For internal exams, you need to score more than 30 out of 50. If you happen to have a back in any subject of 100 marks or 50 marks then you will get grace marks of 10 and 5 respectively. However, this accounts for the whole year and not just a single semester.

AKTU, also known as Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University, established in 2000, is a Technical State University. It is recognised by UGC and AIU and has achieved NAAC Grade B. AKTU has more than 30 affiliated colleges as well.

AKTU offers admission to over 41 different specialisations through different national Entrance exams such as JEE Main and CUET UG. For admission to its flagship course, B.Tech, candidates must have qualified 10+2 with at least 45% aggregate marks from a recognised board. AKTU Admission 2026

AKTU admissions are conducted through national entrance exams and UPTAC Counselling. Students can apply online. AKTU specialises in Bachelor’s and Master’s programs, for which the admissions procedure and criteria for 2025 are as follows:

For admissions, 85% of the seat allotment is conducted based on the entrance exam score, following counselling sessions conducted by AKTU, Lucknow
15% of the seats are filled under this category according to the guidelines set by the UP Government and AKTU. This is specifically for Management/NRI Quota admissions.

Ques. What is AKTU Hostel Fee?

Ans. According to student reviews, AKTU offers hostel accommodation for male and female students. Each room consists of 2 beds, 2 almirahs, 2 tables, and 2 chairs for a double-shared room. Mess food is available as well. Students are required to pay INR 55,000 annually as the hostel fee.

Ans. AKTU offers admission through JEE Main exams and UPTAC counselling rounds. AKTU UPTAC counselling round seat allotment results are out. The counselling cutoff varied from 7259 - 112493 for the general category MBA and B.Tech branches. Candidates who registered and participated in the counselling round can check their results on https://uptac.admissions.nic.in/ with their application number and password.

Ques. What is the application process for admission to various courses at AKTU?

Ans. Admission to AKTU courses is primarily through entrance exams. For B.Tech, B.Arch, B.Pharma, MBA, and MCA courses, students have to apply online for JEE Main/UPCET, submit the application form, upload documents, and pay the fees. After the examination is conducted, AKTU will organise the counselling process for each course in a uniform manner so that seats will be allotted in order of rank according to students’ choices.

Even for admission to PG courses like M.Tech, M.Pharm, or PhD, admission is based on entrance tests like GATE, GPAT, or tests that the university conducts, with some of the courses requiring an interview as well. In addition, other MBA-type courses can accept CAT/CMAT scores as the required entrance. Admissions methods for limited cases for some courses exist through direct admission to private affiliated colleges.

Ans. No, there are no distance education programs offered by AKTU. This is primarily a technical and professional university offering full-time regular courses, such as B.Tech, B.Arch, B.Pharma, MBA, MCA, M.Tech, and PhD, through its affiliated & constituent colleges. The courses necessarily involve practical training and hands-on experiences, and hence, are not in distance mode. Ans. AKTU counselling is an online, centralized, complete process that is being done following an entrance exam, whether it's JEE Main or UPCET. Once a candidate is eligible, they will have to register on the official portal, complete the counselling fee payment, and verify their documentation online. Once verified, the student will fill in their choices of colleges, courses, and their preference order. The system will allocate a seat to candidates based on their entrance exam rank, category, and the availability of a seat in a particular round. Candidates can either freeze the seat, float the seat, or withdraw the seat after they pay the admission fee to officially secure enrolment.

Dislikes

Bitter Truth of college

I liked the dedication of some teachers there . Like they are really passionate for teaching which also gravitates the students attentions and makes them learn better.
Engagement with college students and teachers is quite good. People are communicatively active
I liked the college life because of not college then you are the one who should make it interesting ✌🏻

Dislikes

Some teachers are just casual. Like they really don't pay that attention in explaining the topics . They just provide the notes and tell the students to learn them which is so ridiculous.
They don't organize any fest like there is no freshers etc they don't do that.
The quality of infrastructure is quite average. It neends maintenance.Rooms don't have Air conditioning

Academic structure and curriculum in the campus

I was interested in the growing space of AI and also i was interested in coding that's why I chose this course. See college don't teach you that much You have to prepare yourself for the market and the world College faculty just completes their course and gives you question paper in exams You have to prepare yourself I think the teachers should be more focused on explaining the topics rather than checking the notes of students one by one.

What are the placement opportunities in the college and highest package?

For placements i think you can be prepared after 6th semester After 6th semester college gives you some time or you can say goes light with you so you can get prepared for the placements. So last time I think Just dial came and also many companies came and many students from electrical branch got placed and i think 5-6 students from cs also got placed. Highest package offered of my college is 12 lpa and average is 5 lpa. I would say the percentage of students getting placements is quite low in my college as only very bright students and who have everything only gets placed

Fees structure of the course and scholarship

In AKTU Lucknow I study in an affiliated college Rameshwaram Institute of technology and management. In this college the fees structure lies between something 70,000 to 80,000 per year of you'll take direct admission in branch of computer science and engineering. So the annual fee structure includes tution fees and caution fees. And when you'll go for admission Since I got admitted in this college by counselling so I had to pay 20,000 for seat locking and then the whole fees (20000 included in it) for OBC category. And for other categories like General the fee structure is same as OBC but for SC and ST the fees is slightly less. Then if we talk about scholarships General category students don't get any scholarship And OBC category students get something 60k to 75k scholarship And for SC and ST it goes upto 80k. You can also avail for fee waiver seat during courselling Then you tution fees is not taken but still you have to pay 27,500 to college and then 7500 to aktu as an exam fee per year. But you will not get any scholarship of you get free waiver seat.

Students views about the campus life

I was in 2nd semester when the tech fest was organized in my college My college doesn't organize any freshers so ya that's a disadvantage of it and you'll face if you'll get admission here. Yes my college has library and it has many books most of them are very old publications They are not updated And you'll have to issue them from there and then you'll have to return them when your semester exams end No smart boards are there They have white boards to teach and you have to compromise with it because nothing is gonna happen for real. Sports and extracurricular activities only happen if there is any fest getting organized When there was tech fest only then some sports and activities others than studying were organized. Otherwise there is nothing in whole year.

Faculty and examination pattern of the college

The faculty of particular subjects are available to teach. And the faculty is quite approachable and they also clear the doubts students have. One of the faculty I liked the most was my maths teacher in my first year of college. His name is Ajay sir He was so passionate and so knowledgeable person I have ever seen I was the most dedicated person towards maths And he was also quite approachable I liked almost everyone but some teachers I didn't liked were those who doesn't explain the topics and just provide the notes as PDFs and tell the students to learn them There are 2 sessional exams and 2 pre university test before semester exams in every semester. They have quite good level questions. And they give the rought idea of level of questions you're getting to face in semester exams. Students who don't take the lectures and also don't study by themselves fail the exams obviously

Admission process of the college and eligibility criteria

I applied for many colleges in Noida and I got confirmation letter from NIET college Noida and also got confirmation letter from Galgotiya University But didn't get to admitted in those colleges because of some personal reasons And i got admitted to this college because I got this college in 3rd or 4th round of counselling That's why I was not able to change the college So I had to get admitted in this college I think I applied for Ramswaroop college but I didn't make it there because of my marks i think I don't know this would the reason. May be In my college Rameshwaram Institute of technology and management you can get direct admission and also you can get admission by counselling Just go with the AKTU counselling and fill this college out of 700+ colleges and you can get into this.

Various facilities available in the campus

No there is no gym in my college. There is a cafetaria which has minimal amount of items like some snacks and some cooked food. There is a garden just infront of my college which is just for the grass to grow because there is no sports activity happen there ever. The library is on the second floor you'll have to take permission from teacher to go there Boys Hostel is outside the college campus and girls hostel is inside the college campus. You have to register the timings of arriving and departing if you're going outside the hostel other than college. So we usually hangout over a small space near cafeteria Where the direct sunlight comes Outside the college there is whole world to hangout

So, I hadn't applied for maly colleges... I applied for Jaypee, KIET, and AKGEC , so the main difference I saw was that the crowd of JAYPEE was from posh families... they were the one mainly there to enjoy the college life and to show off... while there were many who were there to build their career as well... In KIET , the crowd was okay but the locality wasn't that good as it was expected... It was in the under developed area , but in AKGEC the crowd is very good.... most of the students are focused and the locality is very good... it,s on NH24, and the environment of the college is very fascinating. I love being here... The admission process is : 1) Based on 12th merit , Management Quota in this you have to give a simple test of physics chemistry and mathematics , total 30 questions 10 each subject and 30-40 mins to answer them... all mcqs and then there will be a Personal Interview round of 10-15 mins. General questions are asked... mostly religious or historical ones 2) Based on UPTAC Councelling By your JEE score you can sit in the councelling and will get the college as per your percentile.

I choose this college on the basis of my JEE mains rank and marks/percentile and also due to counselling i got this college as it is not so far from my home town and also due to hearing more about this college from others about their discipline , strictness and so on but actually i know about this college when i got addmission to this as 90% attendence policy mandatory whereas in the other colleges the attendence criteria is only 75% and also the rule and regulation are very strict as you feel like you are trapped in the college.

What are the “year-back” criteria in AKTU?

At AKTU, the year-back criteria are pretty simple. You are likely to get a year back in any of the following situations:

If in a single year, you have back 6 subjects
If you score below 30 in 6 subjects in a year
If you fail any practical exam
If you do not appear for a practical exam
If you are accused of UFM or unfair means like cheating to pass an exam

Any of the above situations will result in a year back. Try to avoid this as much as possible because it will become very hectic for you.

How can I remove a backlog in AKTU? Is there a marked over result if I cleared it?

If you have a backlog in a semester, you need to fill out a carryover form and retake the examination for that subject with your juniors. For odd semester subjects, you need to appear in the next odd semester and for even semester subjects, you need to appear in the next even semester.

After you clear the backlog, AKTU will issue a new marksheet. The final result will show pass.

What is “internal back” in AKTU?

The internal back is a warning given by your teachers to score well in external exams. Otherwise, you might get a year back. This is actually for the students who have failed internal exams. They then focus more on their external exams to compensate for the low marks in internal exams. . Say you have got 20 marks in the Internal Exam, so you are 10 marks short of passing. By scoring at least 40 marks in External you can ensure that you pass the subject.

Some situations that result in the internal back are as follows:

Attendance below 60%
Marks of monthly tests below 30%
Lack of communication between you and the faculty.

Any of the above scenarios will give you internal back so try to avoid such situations.

What happens if a UFM is showing on an AKTU result?

UFM or Unfair Means is when you have tried to use unfair means such as chits, gadgets, or some other mode to score marks in a particular subject. Such a situation can result in many scenarios:

The result will be paused and postponed till the administration takes an action to solve the matter.
Contact your Institute Director. He will ask you to write a letter detailing your viewpoint regarding the offense that has been made against you.
You will write a letter to the Examination Controller of AKTU and tell him why you were caught using unfair means. Send the printout of your semester results along with this letter.
The entire situation will be closely investigated by the UFM committee of AKTU.
There will be two results to their verdict. Either you are guilty of UFM during exams or you are innocent and have been falsely accused through some conspiracy.

While you apply for this process there are some very important points you need to consider:

Apologize to the committee and say you won’t repeat the mistake. If you say you are innocent, you can get Carry Over(CP) in 4 subjects. This will impact your result very poorly.
Don't try to use any source of AKTU staff or any employee to recommend you for pardoning from the UFM case. This might in turn harm the entire situation. Handle the situation according to the process.

The entire process of resolution of UFM cases is tiring and lengthy and will wear you out in the end. Stay positive and strong throughout the process and wait for the results patiently.

What are the passing criteria for in the AKTU semester?

AKTU passing criteria in a semester is

30 out of 100

This is only for the external exams.

For internal exams, you need to score more than 30 out of 50. If you happen to have a back in any subject of 100 marks or 50 marks then you will get grace marks of 10 and 5 respectively. However, this accounts for the whole year and not just a single semester.

How is AKTU for B.Tech?

One of my cousins is a student at AKTU (Abdul Kalam Technical University). She shared an incident with me which will give you an idea of this university.

During her semester exams at AKTU, she faced a challenging experience. Compiler Design is a subject in the 6th semester of B.Tech. Computer Science. On her compiler design exam day, the question papers were distributed 15 minutes late. It was a regular exam for the new semester. But what she saw shocked her. On the top, it was mentioned - Carry Over Theory Paper Examination. This was a back paper for students who are reappearing and not for regular students. Sometime later a teacher made them change the code of the paper and subjects. All the students were in a panic.

So if you are planning to pursue B.Tech. from AKTU, you should brace yourself for some major challenges.

What is the carryover examination process for pass out students at AKTU Does it take place semester wise?

I have a friend from AKTU. He was able to give some information regarding this. According to him, pass-out students get special carryout papers for their first year back paper only. Recently AKTU decided to give 4 years to clear back papers to the students. So, you can clear the back paper even after your final year. You can also clear your back papers semester-wise.

Does APJ AKTU refund money after a challenge evaluation in semester exams? If yes, then what is the procedure?

Getting a refund is only possible if your marks are increased by more than 20%. In the new procedure, the university will evaluate your sheets by themselves, probably in front of the student.

You will receive a refund of INR 10,000 which is double the amount you have paid. The amount will be credited to your bank account after the results of the challenge evaluations are announced.

Lastly, filing for the challenge evaluation is a very simple process. You need to fill in the details and make the payments. You can do it online or through your college.

How can I get my degree from AKTU Lucknow? What is the procedure there?

The degrees of all the courses either graduate or postgraduate in AKTU are distributed during the Convocation Ceremony of the respective colleges. There is a chance that your college did not conduct such a ceremony. In this case, the degrees are usually sent to the respective colleges which are kept there for around 2 years. After this, the degrees are sent back to AKTU, Lucknow.

To get your degree then the only option left is to visit AKTU personally and submit an application detailing your issue along with essential documents like mark sheets and your ID card. The Vice-Chancellor of AKTU is Mr. Vinay Kumar Pathak. He will help you in this matter. Go to his office and submit the documents and soon your degree will be handed over to you.

Are NPTEL courses compulsory for B.Tech AKTU?

No, NPTEL courses are not compulsory for B.Tech. In AKTU. These courses simply aim at adding qualitative knowledge among the students. In addition, every NPTEL course grants you extra 3 credits. If you are lagging behind in B.Tech. courses then NPTEL courses will definitely help you compensate for the loss.

So it can be said that for. B.Tech. student NPTEL courses are highly recommended but not compulsory.
