AKTU (Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University) grace marks procedure:

  • AKTU grants grace marks to help borderline failing students pass. the process is automatic — students don't apply for it individually
  • Grace limit: typically up to 5-7 marks per paper if the student fails by that margin. maximum grace across subjects per semester is capped
  • grace marks are applied after results are compiled by AKTU's examination division
  • if grace marks help you pass, your result shows 'P' (pass) — there's typically no separate notation for grace

if you believe you should have received grace but didn't:

  • apply for re-evaluation/re-checking through your college's exam department
  • AKTU's re-evaluation process: submit application + fee within 15 days of result declaration

check aktu.ac.in or your college exam office for exact current grace mark rules applicable to your batch/scheme — these policies are updated by AKTU periodically.

AKTU grace marks procedure — one of the more frequently misunderstood processes. Here's exactly how it works.

AKTU grace marks eligibility (2024 regulations):

  • A student can receive grace marks of up to 7 marks total across all subjects in a semester — to help pass subjects where you're close to the passing threshold.
  • Grace can be applied to a maximum of 2 subjects per semester.
  • Purpose: ONLY to help a student pass (reach 40/100). Cannot be used to improve a passing grade.

How it's applied — important nuances:

  • Grace marks are applied automatically by AKTU after result processing — you don't file a separate grace application.
  • AKTU's system calculates whether applying grace marks (within the 7-mark limit) would push you to pass in any subject, and applies them if so.
  • After results are declared: If you're 1-7 marks short of passing in 1-2 subjects, check your final result — grace may have already been factored in.

Grace mark vs Revaluation:

  • Grace: Automatic consideration — doesn't require student action.
  • Revaluation (Re-checking): Separate paid process (?500-700/paper) where you request your answer sheet to be re-evaluated by a different examiner.

If you believe grace wasn't properly applied: Contact your college's exam section, who can raise it with AKTU. Keep your provisional result printout as reference — grace marks are usually reflected in the final issued marksheet within 2-3 weeks of initial results.

B.Tech Civil Engineering, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (2017)

The AKTU Grace marks procedure varies depending on the academic year and courses.

  • Students of B.Tech, B.Pharm, BFAD, BFA, BHMCT, MCA, MCA(I), MBA, MBA(I), B.Arch who were admitted under the CBCS system from session 2016-17, can get a maximum of 7 grace marks per year. If you are an M.Tech, M.Pharm, or M.Arch student admitted under the same academic session, you can get a maximum of 5 grace marks.
  • Students who took admission to B.Tech, MBA, MBA (I), in the academic session 2018-19, can get a maximum of 10 grace marks per year. B.VOC and M.Tech (I) students of 2019-20 sessions can get a maximum grace mark of 3 and 7 per year, respectively.
  • B.Pharm and M.Pharm students admitted under PCI ordinance from session 2019-20, can get 7 and 5 grace marks per year respectively.

To get the grace marks, students need to have an SGPA greater than the minimum passing marks.

Dr. APJ Kalam Technical University (AKTU) Grace Mark New Rule is based upon 40 marks in every semester and year, with 15 marks per subject. It has recently initiated offering flexible grace marks in any semester or year of the course.

Earlier, students used to obtain a maximum of 40 grace marks in a 4-year course. However, the downside was that a student can only use a maximum of 10 marks in a year, or five marks to clear a subject.

But now, the AKTU grace marks rule is highly flexible, suitable to the new norms. You can flexibly utilize 40 grace marks in a year. However, the new provision arrives only with a maximum of 15 grace marks to clear a subject, i.e., you need to score at least 15% marks in a single subject.
