Riya Gurjar, A student, says IP College for Women Green campus, supportive crowd, and active events make IPCW enjoyable. Economics course is decent but needs practical focus. Faculty mostly good. Hectic timetable, inactive societies, and limited nightlife are key drawbacks. Read More

Students also ask

Ques. Can I do a double degree with a BA Hons in IPCW at the same time or not?

Ans. No, doing two regular degree same time is not allowed in Delhi University. A student can do one regular course only. But one online or distance course can be done side by side. Many student do a certificate or short course with their main degree for extra skills and better future options.

Ques. I want to know attendance rule in IPCW is strict or normal for students?

Ans. The attendance rule in IPCW is quite strict, like other DU colleges. Minimum 67% attendance required in each subject. If attendance is low, students may not be allowed to sit in the exam. Some relaxation is given in genuine cases, but the overall rule is important, and students should attend classes regularly to avoid problems.

Students also ask

Ques. Can I still get IPCW admission later if I miss the CSAS registration deadline?

Ans. If a student misses CSAS registration, then admission becomes very difficult. The DU admission process is fully online, and you must register first. Sometimes DU open spot round or a mop-up round, but not sure every year. So, better register on time, otherwise chances become very low for getting a seat in IPCW or any DU college.

Ques. Can I choose the wrong course preference in CSAS? Can it be changed later, or is it stuck forever?

Ans. Yes, a student can change their preference, but only in allowed time window. DU give option to edit preferences before final locking. After that, no change is possible. So students must carefully select courses and colleges before submitting. Admission is based on these choices and the CUET score, so mistakes can affect final seat allotment.

Students also ask

Ques. I cutoff increase or decreases every year in the IPCW DU admission process. Why?

Ans. Cutoff changes every year because many factors affect it. If more students apply and the paper is easy, the cutoff goes high. If the paper is tough or there are fewer students, the cutoff goes down. Seat number also matters. In DU, top colleges like IPCW usually have a high cutoff because demand is high and seats are limited.

Ques. I get the same marks as the cutoff, can I still get a seat in IPCW or not?

Ans. If marks same as the cutoff, then chances depend on category and preference. Sometimes tie-breaking rule apply like subject marks or age. Also, if a seat is available in a later round, a student can get admission. So same marks do not guarantee a seat, but still, a chance is possible in some cases.

Ques. I placement in IPCW good or average compared to other DU colleges overall?

Ans. Placement in IPCW is average, not very high like a top DU college. Around 118 student placed from 1204 students, so the placement rate is low. Median package is near 4.2 LPA for UG. Many students also go for higher studies, so placement is not the only option here.

Ques. I am from an arts course. Can I get placement in IPCW, or is it very unlikely?

Ans. Yes, arts students also get placement, but chance is less compared to commerce or computer courses. Companies mostly prefer skills like finance, data, or tech. Indraprastha College for Women - review

Academic structure and curriculum in the campus

The curriculum covers a strong foundation in core commerce subjects, like accounting, finance, economics, and corporate business management. One also learns about taxation, corporate laws and and e-commerce. The curriculum will definitely prepare one for a clear career path in areas like accounting, finance, or even marketing. However, there is not much flexibility for specific exploration of an area, the course curriculum is well decided in advance. A mix of traditional lectures, interactive sessions, groups, discussions, and presentations can cater to different learning styles as well. The difficulty level of exams is moderate to high with semester-wise conduction of exams, with some internal assessments conducted throughout the semester.

What are the placement opportunities in the college and highest package?

The placement specifically for Bcom Hons is very good; with great opportunities. However, not everyone gets placed - and one has to opt for placement. Around 20 percent of the batch had gotten placed though the placement cell. Highest package was about 16-20 lakhs CTC. Average package goes arounf 6-8 lakhs CTC. My plan was to do an MBA after my degree. Student is eligible for placement in the last year of the course.

Yearly fees structure of the course and scholarship

Total cost of the course: 22,500 yearly (It might be different since the changes after the NEP) Hostel fee: 80,000-1,00,000 for each semester (depending on various amenities) Financial aid is available to EWS students, as well as relevant scholarships are also available. Campus employment was not undertaken by me, but I surely applied for it. Our placement cell is very active and major companies visit campus.

Various clubs and library of the campus

The college has a thriving culture of societies. However, since our college focusses more on academics rather than co-curricular activities - the societies get lesser stipulated time together. The dramatic society of IP College - is known to be the best in University of Delhi. There are dedicated practice rooms for all clubs to flourish. The library of IP College is huge and we also have a swimming pool. The campus is one of the biggest in University of Delhi. Classroom are built old but well-equipped. The societies provide a platform to connect with like-minded individuals, share passion and learn from diverse perspectives.

What are facilities available in the college hostel?

IP College has two hostels: 1 is located inside the college, whereas other is right opposite the college. Both AC and non-AC rooms are available for students. However, hostels have limited capacity, therefore, only some students can avail the hostel facilities and it is decided by the marks that each student gets. The hostels are very close to the college and the food is also good. The menu does not change throughout the year. The cost of living in the Hostel is a bit high, around 80,000-1,00,000 per semester.

Faculty and learning experience in the campus

The faculty for Bcom Honours was known for their experience and knowledge. The professors are very senior and bring a lot of expertise to the classroom. They are incredibly approachable and provide individual attention to students seeking help. student-teacher ratio ( since there were 2 sections of 60 students each)

Admission process and eligibility criteria of the college

The admission process was seamless, however fue to the changes after the NEP: the new process is done by the CUET exam. During my time, there were no entrance exams and admission was done through 12th Board examination marks.

I've applied other top north campus college like srcc, st Stephen, hindu etc. Ipcw was on 9th in my preference list. I've just gotten this college in first seat allocation, as DU offers only one college on basis of your marks and preference list. And after i went for upgradation i got this one only. My cuet score was legging from few marks that's why i didn't get upgradation. Cuet exam is only exam you need to give to get admission in this college. And the eligibility is different for different course for eg. For eco hons you should have maths in 11-12th and should be given maths exam in cuet along with English (English is compulsory for DU) Admission process is easy for DU, you just need to be aware about process and important date for that stick to DU's official website.

I got confirmed for a very good South campus college and thein i upgraded for the second round in which I got my current college which is in the North campus. I think I didn't make it in other colleges which I hoped I would because of the heavy completion among the students. The college is taking admission on the basis of CUET scores and there is havey competition for the seats in good colleges.

I applied for three other universities apart from DU which is Ashoka University Noida, BR Ambedkar University and BHU. So, in the application process of Ashoka, i first filled out a form which was rigourous and i got slected on the bais of that form after that i got the chance to get interviewed by well known professor of Ashoka. But unfortunately i didnt get that college. I dont understand till now that what went wrong in the interview. After that i applied in BHU i got a seat for economics hons. at its main campus but i chose DU over BHU. At last during my process of DU addmissions i applied for BR Ambedkar University and again i got a seat in eco. Hons course but when i filled my preference list for DU, i got ipcw and i accepeted my seat there. This process was long and tedious but i wanted LSR, SRCC, Hindu these colleges over ipcw but i feel like i am settled here with my friends and the enviornment and everything is going good. To get eco hons course in Du, the eligibilty is to give any three paper of your 12th class and a mandatory maths and english paper in CUET . Now after giving the exams, we have phases of rounds, first is to ligin yourself while filling out your details in smarth portal and then comes prefrence list where we need to mention the college and course. We need to rank those colleges with the course acc to your prefrence. On the basis of the cut off you are alloted with the seat. Cut offs varies with the time, cut off marks in the year 2023-24 for ipcw for eco hons.course was 650/800 for general category, for obc and ews it was around 540/800 while for sc,st students it was 450/800

Maths is a compulsory subject to get economics honours at any college of Delhi University. Apart from that, you need to appear in one language and two other domain subjects in CUET. IP College for Women: 15 Answered Questions

Should I choose Indraprastha College with hostel or Miranda House without hostel for B.A. sociology Honours?

VividViper

Honestly, if you're debating between Indraprastha College with a hostel or Miranda House without a hostel for BA Sociology Honours, I'd say IPCW with the hostel is the better choice. The fee structure is around 20,000 to 21,000 per year, which is reasonable compared to many other colleges. Plus, living in the hostel gives you a chance to immerse yourself in the college culture. There's a vibrant campus life with various events like "Shruti," which you wouldn't want to miss.

Miranda House, while prestigious, may not provide the same level of community and support that you would get from living on campus. The hostel at IPCW allows for easier access to classes and a chance to make lasting friendships with fellow students. So, if you value a close-knit community and an engaging college experience, I'd definitely recommend going with Indraprastha College.

How is B.Sc. (Hons.) Computer Science from Indraprastha College for women under DU, including infrastructure, faculty, classrooms, and labs?

FileFiligree

From my three years at Indraprastha College, I'd say choosing a science course like BSc Hons Computer Science here might not be the best idea, as the college shines more in arts subjects. My friends in Political Science and BA programs had much better experiences. The Computer Science department is not given the same attention as arts and commerce. Although the campus is beautiful, the infrastructure for CS is limited. For example, the labs are too small to accommodate a class of 40 students. Larger spaces like conference rooms are often used more by other departments than by CS. CS students are working hard to make their mark, but it seems the college still views them as tech support for Excel sheets.

Regarding faculty, you'll find only 3-4 professors who really engage with students effectively. This seems to be a common issue across many top colleges in India, so be ready to handle most of the studying on your own.

Another problem is the focus on theory classes over labs, with strict attendance rules. Missing labs for theory classes doesn't make sense, especially when practical experience is crucial. The strict attendance policy can force students to miss labs, which harms their learning. This lack of practical experience can be a big drawback during placements, as companies prefer practical skills over high GPAs. I've seen students with lower GPAs from lesser-known colleges getting internships at places like Amazon. So, a college with relaxed attendance might actually be better for self-study and coding practice. In the end, your degree will say University of Delhi, not the college name.

Generally, the course feels secondary, and by the third year, you might wonder where the DU exposure is. For other subjects, IPCW is great, but not for CS. Even though the lawns are lovely, they don't compensate for the lack of education and exposure in CS that DU is famous for.

As for the all-girls environment, it really depends on personal preference, but I think most of my batch of 45 would agree it's not ideal. Initially, I thought it wouldn't matter, but over three years, it does affect interactions and daily life. However, if there aren't better college options, don't let this be the sole reason to leave. Consider this factor if you have other choices like Hansraj.

A common misconception is that IPCW is in the North Campus, but it's actually a metro stop away in Civil Lines, which is quieter and pricier. If choosing between Hansraj and IPCW, Hansraj likely offers a richer DU experience.

On a positive note, the hostel is a major advantage. IPCW has one of the best hostels in DU, which enhances college life and lets you enjoy the stunning campus. Day students might not have as much fun as hostelers. You need to maintain 75% attendance each semester to stay in the hostel.

The campus itself is beautiful. You might dislike the course but love the campus. Relaxing in the green lawns with pretty flowers is a cherished memory. We'd order food from nearby cafes in GTB Nagar and enjoy it on the lawns. The campus is very clean, with dustbins everywhere. The canteen food is decent, and hygiene is top-notch, unlike some other popular DU colleges with unhygienic canteens. There's a large ground at the back to enjoy the winter sun.

How good is Indraprastha College of DU in reality??

SiliconStardust

I pursued my Bachelor of Arts (BA) {Hons.} in Political Science at Indraprastha College, and my experience has been quite positive. The faculty is knowledgeable and approachable, although sometimes strict. The fee is around 28,000 for the first year, which reduces in the following years. The placement cell is active but placements are not guaranteed for everyone. The annual fest, Shruti, is a highlight, and the campus has a vibrant atmosphere. I would say it’s a good college for someone interested in humanities, but it requires consistent effort to keep up with the curriculum.

What are the pros and cons of studying at Indraprastha College for Women Delhi University?

SubtleSage

I graduated from Indraprastha College for Women, and I have to say it's one of the top colleges in Delhi University. One thing I really liked is that it stays out of the DU election politics and isn't part of the DUSU. This means it doesn't get caught up in small media dramas, which is nice because it lets students focus on more important things.

The faculty here is amazing, and each department has its own special qualities. Plus, the hostel is really good, definitely better than most other girls' hostels in DU.

Which one is good in all aspects Lady Shri Ram College or Indraprastha College for Women?

ModemMoment

Honestly, I think both Lady Shri Ram College (LSR) and Indraprastha College for Women (IPCW) have their own strengths. I’m currently studying Bachelor of Arts (BA) at IPCW, and the campus life here is really vibrant. We have our annual fest called Shruti, which is a lot of fun, and the library is huge with a good collection of books. However, the faculty experience can be a mixed bag; some professors are really supportive while others can be a bit strict. The fees for my course are around 28,000 per year, which is on the higher side compared to some other DU colleges, but overall, I feel IPCW gives a solid education with good exposure.

On the other hand, I’ve heard great things about LSR as well, especially regarding their placements and the overall reputation of the college. The faculty-to-student ratio is better, which means students get more personalized attention. Some friends from LSR have mentioned that the environment fosters both academic and extracurricular growth really well. Their placements are also impressive, with many students getting good packages. However, I feel IPCW's focus on all-rounded development through various societies and events is something LSR could improve.

In terms of internships, IPCW has a dedicated placement cell that regularly shares opportunities, but it can sometimes feel like it’s more favorable for commerce students. I have heard from friends that LSR also provides good internship opportunities, especially through their active alumni network. So, if you’re looking for a college that offers a robust academic experience with additional activities, IPCW could be great, but if placements are a top priority, LSR might edge out slightly better. Ultimately, it really depends on what you're looking for in your college experience!

Is Indraprastha College for Women better than Jesus and Mary College in DU?

NetworkNarrative

I feel Indraprastha College for Women stands out when compared to Jesus and Mary College, especially for the Bachelor of Commerce [B.Com] {Hons.} course. The college offers a well-structured curriculum, and the faculty is pretty engaging. I've seen that students can expect a decent placement with the highest package being around 21 Lakhs, which is quite motivating.

Plus, the campus life is lively, and there are several extracurricular activities that keep students engaged. Overall, I think IPCW provides a better environment for commerce students compared to JMC.

What if the fee structure in Indraprastha College IPCW in Delhi University for B.A. hons geography? Is it better to stay in a hostel or PG?

ServerStradivarius

The fee for the first year at IPCW is ?37,825. You can find this info on their website too. IPCW's fees are on the higher side compared to other DU colleges. For instance, Miranda House charges about ?16,000 yearly.

I think choosing a hostel is a great idea because it's safer and saves you travel time. Plus, living in a hostel gives you a chance to enjoy a unique experience, make friends, and create lasting memories.

Though hostel fees at IPCW are somewhat higher than other colleges, they offer good facilities. PGs might cost less than hostels.

I suggest you apply for a hostel. If budget is an issue, consider sharing a flat with 4-5 friends in your later years. Hostels are generally better than PGs.

If you have more questions, feel free to ask in the comments.

How lively is the campus life at Indraprastha College for Women?

CacheCascade

Hey there,

Sure, it's not right in the middle of North Campus, but you'll come to see that this is actually a bonus. The campus remains calm and tidy, not like a lot of other places. Plus, it's just a quick auto or metro ride away, so it's no big deal.

Teachers keep a close eye on your attendance and studies, which might give you school vibes sometimes. But honestly, how you experience it is up to you. Some people feel it's like being back in school, while others don't.

And guess what? There's no dress code!

How is the college life in IP colleges?

FolderFable

From what I've experienced, college life at IP feels a lot like an advanced version of school. There's quite a bit of discipline, and attending classes is really important. On the flip side, there are tons of chances to join different college societies and get involved. I'm part of the NSS team, which offers a bunch of activities too.

The college is packed with extracurricular activities and sports options, plus there's even a swimming pool. The teachers are really supportive, and that goes for all departments, not just my political science one. The infrastructure is top-notch, probably among the best in DU, which I really appreciate. I've only been here for a short time, so I'm still learning, but this is what I know so far. Cheers!

No, admission to Indraprastha College for Women (IP College), Delhi, is not possible without the CUET (Common University Entrance Test). Since the introduction of CUET, all undergraduate admissions to Delhi University, including IP College, are conducted through this centralized entrance exam. Merit-based admissions via Class 12 marks are no longer accepted. Therefore, a valid CUET score is mandatory for admission to any undergraduate program at IP College.
