BCom with CMA: Admission Process

In general, admissions to many top colleges are done by entrance tests, exam patterns, and registration details are given below

  • Fill application form: By visiting the websites of the respective colleges read the instructions well to fill out the form correctly.
  • Documents required: The filling form requires Various documents such as an Aadhaar card, PAN card, photographs, bachelor’s degree mark sheet, etc.
  • Recheck before final submit: Before finally submitting the admission form make sure your form hasn't any errors.
  • Make payment: After filling admission form payment of fees will be done via online mode.
  • Print confirmation slip: After making payment print out the final confirmation page for future reference.
  • Download admit card: Download the admit card approximately 2-3 days before the exam.
  • Attend Counselling: After completing the exam and releasing results candidates have to participate in counselling for the selection of institutes/colleges.

The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of India conducts an ICMAI exam for offering CMA course admission in India.

  • ICMAI: This exam is conducted to provide admission in CMA courses at different levels such as the Foundation course, Intermediate course, and final course.

Exam Pattern

CMA Exam Pattern

  • The CMA exam is fully computerized(online mode) and is available at hundreds of prometric centers around the world. 
  • Candidates can take the exam 6 months out of the 12 each year. 
  • There are two parts in the exam. Each part is 3 hours long for 100 multiple choice questions.
  • The second section is essay writing . Candidates will be given 30 minutes for each of the two essays. Total testing duration is 4 hours.
  • Candidates must pass at least 50% of the first (i.e. multiple choice) section in order to advance to the essay questions. They can use any time remaining from the multiple choice questions towards the essay portion.
  • The exam is held in three examination windows in a year namely Jan & Feb/May & June/ Sept & Oct.
  • The total marks per paper is 500, and minimum passing is 362 marks and minimum 72%.

Tips to Clear CMA Exam

  • Plan creation: Create a plan by analysing previous year papers to which chapters or topics you are strong or weak .Collect the detailed information of the syllabus of the exam which you have to study for the exam.
  • Identify easy and weak areas: Mark the subjects that are easy and difficult for you and manage your time in an effective way.
  • Practice mock tests: Solve previous year papers and improve the mistakes you have made during attempting the paper. 
  • Analyse practice paper: Candidates are advised/suggested to do more mock tests as it gives them a better idea about the type of questions and the difficulty level asked in the exam. 
  • Work on time management: The main focus while doing mock tests is to focus on time management skills so that all the questions asked in the timing of the exam can be completed within time.
