Delhi University UG Admission 2026
Delhi University UG Admission 2026 offers 75+ UG courses across 91 colleges through the CSAS. Every year, over 3 lakh candidates compete for approximately 71,600 UG seats, making Delhi University admissions among the most competitive in India. Delhi University PG Admission 2026
Delhi University PG Admission 2026 for most two-year PG programs is conducted through CUET PG 2026 scores and seat allocation is managed through the CSAS PG portal. Candidates seeking admission to most PG courses must appear for CUET PG and participate in the centralized seat allocation process.
There are some important exceptions: MBA admission at the Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), Delhi University is based on CAT scores, while LLM admission requires a valid CLAT score. CUET PG is not accepted for these programs.
For most Delhi University PG programs, the seat distribution follows a 50:50 admission structure:
- 50% of seats are allocated to open category candidates, including non-DU graduates, through CUET PG 2026 merit.
- The remaining 50% of seats are reserved for Delhi University undergraduate (DU UG) graduates, based on their qualifying examination marks and university admission rules.

Delhi University Admission FAQs
Ques. Is CUET mandatory for all UG admissions at Delhi University 2026?
Ans. Yes, for all regular undergraduate programs, CUET UG 2026 is mandatory. The only exceptions are DU SOL (School of Open Learning) and NCWEB (Non-Collegiate Women's Education Board), which admit on 10+2 merit without CUET. B.Tech at the Faculty of Technology is also an exception: it requires JEE Main, not CUET.
Ques. What CUET score is needed for SRCC or top DU colleges in 2026?
Ans. In 2025, SRCC General category final-round cutoffs were 913 for B.Com (Hons) and 910 for BA (Hons) Economics (out of 1000 normalised CUET score). Hindu College's BA (Hons) Political Science hit 950.58 - the highest across all DU programs in 2025. For 2026, expect cutoffs to rise by 5 to 15 points at top colleges due to consistent year-on-year increases.
Ques. Can a gap-year candidate apply for DU UG Admission 2026?
Ans. Yes. Delhi University imposes no age bar and no gap-year restriction for UG admissions. Gap-year candidates must have a valid CUET UG 2026 score and meet the minimum 10+2 academic eligibility for their chosen program.
Ques. How does the Upgrade option in DU CSAS work?
Ans. After accepting a seat in any allotment round, you can choose Upgrade on your CSAS dashboard. The system then checks your higher-ranked preferences in the next round. If a better preference is available, your current seat is auto-cancelled and the new seat is allotted. If no upgrade is possible, your existing admission is retained. Freeze your seat once you are satisfied to exit the upgrade queue.
Ques. What is the FMS Delhi CAT cutoff for 2026?
Ans. FMS Delhi does not publish an overall CAT percentile cutoff. Instead, it uses a composite score based on sectional CAT marks: VARC 40%, DILR 30%, QA 30%. The composite score cutoff for the 2026-28 batch was 46.739 for General category, 35.189 for OBC, 29.370 for SC, and 23.140 for ST. In rough percentile terms, this corresponds to approximately 99+ overall for General category, with a mandatory minimum 50th percentile in each section.
Ques. Is DU SOL a part of Delhi University and is its degree valid?
Ans. Yes. The School of Open Learning (SOL) is an official department of the University of Delhi. Degrees awarded by SOL are valid and recognised by UGC. Admission to SOL's BA and BCom programs does not require CUET. Apply at sol.du.ac.in. Admission is merit-based on 10+2 marks.
Ques. What is the B.Tech admission fee at Delhi University Faculty of Technology?
Ans. The total first-year admission fee is INR 2,35,200. On allotment, pay INR 1,00,000 as an admission confirmation fee within the deadline; the remaining balance is due within 10 days of the closure of all rounds. Income-linked waivers apply: 90% off for parental income up to INR 4 lakh, and 50% off for income between INR 4 lakh and INR 8 lakh. PwBD candidates pay only INR 25,000 as confirmation fee.
Ques. What qualifications are needed for DU PhD admission 2026?
Ans. Candidates need a Master's degree in the relevant subject with minimum 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD). A valid UGC-NET or CSIR-NET score is required. Selection is 70% based on NET score and 30% based on departmental interview. JRF-qualified candidates go directly to the interview stage without a separate entrance test. A research proposal is mandatory at the time of application for most departments.
Ques. Does DU accept home-state quota or domicile-based reservations?
Ans. No. Delhi University is a central university. There is no home-state or domicile-based reservation in UG or PG admissions. Candidates from any state or board compete on equal merit through the CSAS portal. Reservation categories follow Government of India norms: SC 15%, ST 7.5%, OBC-NCL 27%, EWS 10%, PwBD 5%.
Ques. What happens if I do not act on my allotted seat in the CSAS portal?
Ans. Inactivity after a seat is allotted - neither accepting nor declining - is treated as a rejection of the provisionally allocated seat. The seat is cancelled and you will not be eligible for subsequent allotment rounds. Always log in to your dashboard and take action before the round deadline to avoid losing your allocation.
