How is life at FMS Delhi???

pranavguptaa

A typical day at FMS Delhi starts with case discussions in class, where participation really matters. Between lectures, you’ll find students either in the library, preparing for upcoming evaluations, or rushing to society meetings. Evenings are usually spent working with peers: either on assignments, internship prep, or planning events.

During placement season, the pace picks up significantly and becomes the main focus. In between all this, events like Fiesta and section activities give students a chance to unwind and bond. Life here stays packed, but it rarely feels directionless.

How do admissions happen in FMS Delhi in the CW category?

Sai Pillai

Admission chances depend on entrance exam scores, category reservation, state quota, and annual competition levels.

Assessment factors:

  • Previous Cutoff Trends: Analyze last 3 years' data for your category and branch.
  • Category Reservation: Cutoffs vary significantly across General, OBC, SC, ST, and EWS.
  • State Quota Benefits: Home state candidates often have 10-20 percentile lower cutoffs.

How does FMS Delhi's MBA compare to other top B-schools in India?

Sonal Vaid
Mansi Jain

In terms of Faculty, FMS's MBA program is beyond par as compared to other B Schools as most faculties have years of experience and are the leading academicians in the country in their area of expertise. Examples are Prof. Kavita Singh for OB, Prof. Venkat Raman for HR etc. FMS Delhi follows a semester system so it makes it difficult for students to go on international exchange programs.

What's the process for getting into FMS Delhi?

Jasmine Grover
Mansi Jain

Candidates are shortlisted based on a weighted score. This score is calculated by combining the percentiles from all three sections of the CAT exam (VARC, DILR, and QA) with differential weightage (40% 30% 30% respectively). Additionally, your marks from Class X and XII are considered (10% weightage each), with a bonus for scoring above 75% (10 points) or between 60-74% (5 points).

There's also an encouraging diversity factor: women candidates receive an additional 5 points for shortlisting purposes only. If you make the cut-off for this shortlist, you'll be invited for a Personal Interview (PI) where your performance will be evaluated alongside your weighted CAT score, academic marks, and a discussion on your Statement of Purpose (SOP). The weightage for final selection breaks down as follows: 50% for the weighted CAT score, 10% each for Class X and XII marks, 10% for the SOP discussion, 5% for Extempore and 15% for your performance in the PI.

Which of the following is better in terms of placements: IIM K, IIM I, ISB, FMS or XLRI?

Neha Uniyal
Rishabh SinghLives in banglore

ISB caters to working professionals with more than 2 years of experience. If you do not belong to this category, this institution is not for you.

Now coming to the other options,

The HR program of XLRI is very old and renowned. Because of it, XLRI receives a slightly higher number of recruiters. This boosts its average package. Its limited batch size also benefits its placements. IIMK, FMS and XLRI receive more or less the same companies. But IIMK and XLRI attract MBB (McKinsey, Bain, BCG) for their front end roles, which IIMI and FMS do not.

Considering all these factors, XLRI is the best choice, mainly because of its small batch size. It is followed by IIMK and FMS, and IIM Indore comes last.

Admission to the Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), Delhi University, is based on entrance through the FMS-CAT/DU-CAT exam. To apply, you need a bachelor’s degree (after 12 years of schooling) with a minimum of 50% marks (or 45% for certain reserved categories). For MBA admission, FMS bases shortlisting almost on CAT score (with section-wise weightage: VARC 40 %, DILR 30 %, QA 30 %). An extra 5 marks is added for female candidates during shortlisting. Final selection uses a composite score: 50% from CAT, 10% each from Class 10 and 12 marks, 10% from Statement of Purpose, 5% from Extempore, 15% from Personal Interview. Women get +5 bonus marks at the interview stage. For General-category applicants, CAT percentile cut-offs have been very high, 98-99+ percentile to get an interview
