Placements of the college is good as despite having a bad season of placements this year, we have been decently placed in various companies. Last year the average placement package was around 34 lacs and the highest package was around 1.28 cr. there are mostly 100% placements .
For campus placements, it typically occurs in 2 phases: lateral and final. The process spans 7 days each, with the first round taking place around the 2nd week of December and the final round around the 1st week of January. At this stage, companies offer roles primarily in front-end consulting and marketing, especially under FMCG companies. Most roles entail sales, with some focusing on marketing based on the specific requirements of the company.

Placements are a very important part of FMS full time MBAs where in year on year, the placecomm achieves cent percent placements. Average Stipend for summers - 3 Lakhs Average CTC - 32 Lakhs I have already secured a summer internship in my domain preference, consulting, and I am looking forward to that for the time being.

Campus placements take place in the beginning of the 4th semester, almost all the big names in the industry participate in the same. FMS has been successfully getting 100% placements throughout the years and we're hoping for the same this year, it's hard to say for sure because every B-School has taken a hit in their placement stats this year, given the grim market conditions.
The campus placements are great at FMS Delhi. Almost all good companies visit the campus for recruitment. In the very first semester, companies visit for the summer placement process where the average stipend this year was 1.5 lakh/per month and the highest stipend was 2.2 lakhs per month. Also, there are final placements conducted where the median package is around 30 lakhs per annum and the highest package goes above 60 lakhs per annum. Talking about the percentage of placements, all the students are placed in the companies visiting the campus and the placement record is 100% till now.
Every student gets placed easily, thanks to a very smooth process headed by the Corporate Relations and Placement Team and the average package last year was 32.4 LPA with every student getting placed.
FMS has the Best placements among top B-schools because of its batch size and quality of students when compared to other top B-Schools. FMS has a record of 100% placements over the past few years. The average package is Rs. 33,00,000/- per year which is above the top B-Schools and its median is Rs.30,00,000/- which is the best among top B-Schools in India. RIO is the highest among all the B-Schools in India. Top companies from all domains visit the campus to recruit students. Some of them are BCG, Bain, McKinsey, Accenture Strategy, Amazon, Red see Consulting, RPG Group, Reliance, TAS, Adani, Perno Ricard, HUL, ITC, Asian Paints, Pidilite, Walmart, Byjus, Uber, OfBusiness, Capgemini, Zensar Technologies, Etc.
Students are eligible for internships in the first semester and final placements in the fourth semester of the course. Asian Paints, Coca-Cola, J&J, Dabur, ITC, HUL, Adobe, Amazon, Media.net, Microsoft, Avendus, Nomura, HSBC, Standard Chartered, Citi Bank, HDFC Bank, BCG, Bain, Kearney, Accenture are some of the top firms visiting the campus for placements. For the 2020-2022 batch, 262 offers were made to 257 students appearing for placements. For the 2020-2022 batch, the highest and average packages were 58 and 32.4 lakhs respectively in Sales & Marketing, Finance, Product Management, IT, Analytics, Consulting, and General Management roles. 100% of students appearing for placements were offered jobs on campus. My plan is to work in a Sales & Marketing firm and learn under the guidance of top professional managers.
Lots of big corporate names visit the campus and students are provided with ample opportunities to prove their knowledge. The placement team does a very good work of bringing such companies on board. Students become eligible after 3rd semester for placements. Also, a big chunk of them gets PPO during the internship itself.

There is no question at all if you are optimising for salary in the short term. On average, you would earn more at IIM Ahmedabad and Bangalore than at FMS. In the long run, it will be much more dependent on you and a little bit on the profile you want to work in. However, ceteris paribus and on average IIM Ahmedabad or IIM Bangalore will earn more or as much as an FMS grad. Choose A or B if you want to maximise your placement salary.
Whether you should optimise for placement salary is a different question, and the answer depends on what you want to do with your life.
I will recommend you stop focusing on the average packages of any Institute be it FMS, IITs, or IIMs. This is because average packages are quite misleading. Two main reasons are
Because of these reasons, I deem the average packages to be very misleading and should not be considered to determine the worth of a college.
You should definitely attend IIM Lucknow rather than FMS Delhi. IIM is a brand, a distinguishing mark that will stay with you for the rest of your life. You never give up the IIM tag for FMS, no matter how much it costs.
The FMS campus has a dingy canteen the size of a bungalow, women dressed in glittery clothing roaming around, and plenty of heat and dust. There are also no hostels. You must take a PG if you go there. Food will be provided by the PG and nearby vendors.
In terms of finances, IIML fees are not comparable to Harvard fees. If you have given money to coaching institutes, you can certainly afford IIML. You may need to take out a loan, but you can certainly afford it.
Anyway, back to culture and way of life. In comparison to FMS, IIMs are king-size. Acres of land, well-kept cultivated greenery, a clean campus, and tasty mess food. Any IIM mess is better than most engineering colleges' mess, and Lucknow's Mess is delicious. The sports complex includes a large swimming pool, Jacuzzi, steam bath, large courts, and other amenities. Every two months, there will be massive student festivals where you can interact with students from other IIMs. You'll get a free membership to a nearby club where you can wine and dine. The student exchange program with Europe at IIM Lucknow is fantastic. You have the opportunity to study alongside international students and make friends from all over the world.
During the IIM Lucknow summer placements for the 2022-24 batch, 570 job offers were made and over 185 recruiters visited the campus. Aside from that, the highest and average stipends offered during summer placements at IIM Lucknow for the 2022-24 batch were INR 3.5 lakh per month and INR 1.41 lakh per month, respectively.
FMS Delhi maintains a stable placement record over years. Students receive lucrative salary packages every year. The institute has released the final report of the 2022 placement drive.

Some major companies that visited the campus for recruitment are Boston Consulting Group, Nykaa, Paytm, Adobe, Adani Group, BYJU’s. Recruiters came from various domains. The domain-wise placement statistics are as follows

Consulting/General Management was the top recruiting domain. IT and Operations also was one of the major recruiting domains with around 61 offers.
Let’s consider the effect of graduation scores in summer and final placements separately.
Summer Placements:
During these placements, the recruiters don’t have your MBA profile to judge you. So they have to take your graduation score, past academics, and other criteria into consideration. The summer placements are largely based on what the candidate has achieved till the time he joined his/her MBA program. This is exactly why placement committees request that students utilize the time before joining the institute to improve their resumes. You can upscale yourself with work experience, your education, your extra-curricular activities, etc.
Final Placements:
During these placements, the students are almost about to complete their MBA. This means their profile has improved through various on and off-campus opportunities. These opportunities include research projects, work on industry projects, and summer internships. So now your CGPA in your MBA program and performance in these activities carry more importance than your undergraduate CGPA.
So we can say graduation scores matter in summer placements but not much in final placements.
FMS is known largely for its Management and Consulting placements rather than Finance placements. Let’s have a look at the sector-wise placement statistics of FMS.
Domains |
Campus Offers |
Management and Consulting |
76 |
E-Com/ IT/ Operations |
61 |
Finance |
30 |
S&M |
25 |
From the above stats we can say that the highest placements were offered to the Management and Consulting domains. The Marketing placements accounted for 39%, Consulting and Management for 17%, IT/Ops for 28%, and Finance for 16%. Finance received almost half of what Management and Consulting placement offers. The top recruiters that came from the Finance sectors are as follows
So I don’t think FMS Delhi is good for Finance.
The salary-wise placement statistics of this year at FMS are as follows
Below INR 20 LPA: 13
INR 20 LPA – INR 24.9 LPA: 89
INR 25 LPA – INR 29.9 LPA: 33
Above INR 30 LPA: 122
So it can be inferred from the above data that the lowest package was around 5-15 LPA. Such low packages are accepted by students who are in desperate situations. This can be due to a poor CV or lack of communication or an inability to handle the stressful placement process. Such desperate situations result in compromising brand name, CTC, location, domain, or designation.
So if you are concerned that the lowest package is less than what you are expecting, rest assured. Because you can still work in improving your profile, work on your content and communication and make the best of the on and off-campus opportunities.
The two most important factors considered by recruiters during Placements at IIM ABC/FMS/XLRI are
MBA scores are of much importance during Final Placements but are Not available during summer placement.
If you have passed the above criteria, you are most likely to land any job. Still, I have segregated the roles that require work experience and the roles that do not.
Roles that require work experience
Roles that do not require work experience
So most of the jobs do not require work experience. Even if they do only non-engineering work experience is of value unless you want to go into Operations/Supply chain/product management.
In the placement process, it is not always the B-Schools that are responsible for reporting inflated packages, but rather the companies. The figure reported by placement cells is referred to as the "Cost to Company" (CTC) and not the take-home salary. This means that simply dividing the CTC by 12 is not an accurate reflection of what you will receive in your bank account each month.
CTC consists of two main components: fixed and variable. The fixed component includes your basic salary, HRA, TA, LTA, employer's contribution to the provident fund, joining bonus, retention bonuses, and ESOPs. The variable component is based on both your performance and the company's performance and is paid out in lump sums either yearly or half-yearly.
Your take-home salary at the end of each month is calculated as basic salary + HRA + TA + other allowances - provident fund deduction - tax. The remaining amount is given to you at the end of the year. To illustrate how companies may inflate their CTC figures, here are a few examples:
Fixed component: 9 lakhs
Year 1 end retention bonus: 2 lakhs
Year 2 end retention bonus: 1.5 lakhs
ESOP: 5 lakhs to be paid over 3 years
Performance bonus: separate/not reported CTC: 17.5 lakhs
Take-home salary: 65-70k
Fixed component + Variable component: 14.5 lakhs
Relocation: 2,00,000 INR (one-time payment)
Supplemental Salary: 3,50,000 INR (supplemental salary is an accrued bonus paid out in monthly installments pro-rated from the date of joining, only applicable during the first year of joining)
CTC: 20 lakhs
Take-home salary: 95-98k
Fixed component: 9 lakhs
Variable component: 10-20% of a fixed component
CTC: 10.8 lakhs
Take-home salary: 65-68k
As seen from the examples, despite Amazon having a CTC that is double that of RBS IDC, their take-home salary is the same. This is the typical way it works. The placement teams likely do not have much control over the process.
If you are concerned about your past academic records then rest assured for the final placements don’t usually pay much attention to past academic records.
MBA is much more than just learning and writing your answers and scoring good marks. It is more about applying logic and increasing your decision-making skills. So to compensate for your poor past academic performance, become a part of the managerial committee and improve your resume. Enhancing your decision-making and managerial skills will increase your chances of getting a good placement than your academic background.
Also, FMS in itself is a brand name that will fetch you a good package.

The FMS Delhi alumni network provided mentorship from alumni who offer guidance on career, specific industries, and interview performance. This network can connect students with alumni working in their desired fields, also providing with referral opportunities. Alumni are sometimes asked to conduct mock interviews, career fairs, or workshops, helping students prepare for placements.
FMS is good for consulting and marketing, so you will always find companies flocking to it, irrespective of the job market. It has a strong alumni network compared to other B schools. FMS Delhi supports students in securing internships and final placements through its extensive industry connections, dedicated placement cell, and robust career development programs. The institute offers personalized guidance, mock interviews, and access to job portals, preparing students to excel in the competitive job market.
FMS Delhi has a strong placement record, with an average package of INR 34 lakhs and this is based on the placement stats provided by the college’s last year’s stats.
FMS has lower fee structure of almost INR 2 lakhs compared to most IIMs with INR 15-20 lakhs. However, IIMs have a high brand recognition with a wider range of specialized programs. FMS more or less focuses on general management program, while IIMs have diverse interests to choose from.
