Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Course curriculum is comparable to other top business schools with more or less similar modules. First year has less rigidity in terms of subject choices and specialisation, however, one can choose subjects in the second year in form of electives to focus on a particular domain. Each section has 80 students and the professors usually follow the case method of teaching where in they share a case to be refered prior to sitting for the said lecture. The faculty is one of the finest with many of them being ex IIM professors. A major difference between FMS and other B schools is that it follows a semester system instead of a trimester system. Exams are conducted timely in November and March. Assessments are a mix of internals consisting of Quizzes, Assignments, Class Participation and externals.

Internships Opportunities

5

You can refer the summer placement report, but largely top companies from all domains come and hire at FMS. From MBB, Big 4 in consulting, to Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanly in Finance, to HUL, Nestle, PnG in marketing, all major companies offer internships for summer placements and compensate extremely well. The average stipend is around 3 Lakhhs for the duration of 2 months.

Placement Experience

5

Placements are a very important part of FMS full time MBAs where in year on year, the placecomm achieves cent percent placements. Average Stipend for summers - 3 Lakhs Average CTC - 32 Lakhs I have already secured a summer internship in my domain preference, consulting, and I am looking forward to that for the time being.

Fees and Financial Aid

As known to every one, and being one of the two USPs of FMS (First one being it's historic legacy of being one of the oldest B schools in the country) FMS's Fee structure is extremely affordable at literally 1/15th of other comparable B schools, capped at 220000 for the current batch. There are a lot of ways to fund your education, including multiple scholarships such as the OP Jindal Scholarship, IDFC scholarship and other Govt. Scholarships. Students mostly recover more than their entire fee in their summer internships itself with an average stipend of around 3 lakhs (for two months of Summer Internship).

Campus Life

4

Annual fest called Fiesta happens in February and sees a lot of participation from FMS and Beyond. The library is extensive and one need not purchase any textbooks as they are readily available in the library to be issued. Classrooms are equipped with projector and computers along with a sound system. Students have access to Mint Newspaper and Wifi across the campus. The campus is small however, the vicinity and facility of DU makes up for it. Their is a music room, Badminton court and TT inside the FMS campus itself. There is a sports week as part of the section wars which sees a lot of participation in sports like cricket, badminton. football, basketball etc. There are multiple interest based groups such as the Consulting Club, Marketing Society, Alpha Investment club etc.

Admission

To be eligible for an MBA, you only need a Graduation. I had taken the CAT exam and had applied for FMS separately after the result of the CAT was released. FMS does not take a separate entrance exam but uses CAT scores for assessment. The online form has a section for SOP where we need to write our statement of purpose. For shortlisting for interview, a Composite Score out of 100, giving 40 30 30 weightage to verbal quant and DILR is calculated respectively. While the breakup for final selection keeps changing, last year's breakup was Weightage for X and XII- 10 marks each(10/10 if above 75%, 5/10 if less than 75%)

Interview Experience

5

There was no GD, however their was an Interview and an Extempore. Interview- Revolves around your CV, questions on basic concepts of economy, domain of interest (Marketing, Consulting, FInance) etc. Extempore Topic- It could something as vague as "Blue" to something as specific as "India's rise in the last century". It is a tes of your witt, articulation and fluency.

Placement Experience:

Placements of my college are average when compared with other B-schools of similar level. The companies which have visited so far for internships are mostly start ups like Wealth Blue and Outlook, but some other companies like ITC, Bajaj Capital and Coca Cola moon beverages have also come on campus. The highest stipend promised so far is 15,000 for 3 months or 10,000 per month for 2 months. A lot of students are yet to be placed, both for final and summer placements. My plan is also to get a job post my PGDM.

The course curriculum is mostly aligned towards Economics but you don't need to have prior experience in the field, you can start afresh and still excel. I picked this course specifically for the Analytics part of it.
