The departmental profesors are good and friendly
The sports facilities are really nice and anyone can go and participate
The people here are also very friendly and chill

Dislikes

The placement pressure is very high and not everyone is getting good placements
The ac facility is not available in hostels
The food was not good in the freshers hostel

Admission:

The course that i took now was my prefed one itself.. this course mostly deals with optimising the business problems which is something that i really love. As i was almost sure that i could get into this college i did not apply for any other colleges that i could get with my rank. The admission was based on the JEE Advanced Rank. Most of the admission process was done through online and only verification during physical reporting

Liked the Classroom Environment so much , there is centralised Ac in all the classes along with sufficient lights which keeps the focus while studying .
The Central Library which is considered one of the largest technical library of Asia is also fully AC with thousands of books and has the perfect studying environment.
Moreover, the Campus area which the largest holding 2100 acres is full of greenery and peace which not only calm the mind but also the body.

Admission:

I got IIT Guwahati , IIT BHU and some but opted for this college because of its environment it provides for studying as well the peace it delivers through the greenery of the campus also way of transportation is way easier.

The college life is full of joy and enthusiasm
Lot of events occurring all over the year. Every weekend there is something great happening inside campus to ingage in.

Dislikes

Not dislike but yaa you will have to study a lot
Sometimes it becomes tough to find good food inside campus.
It's quite costly inside the campus everything is overpriced.

Admission:

Our college IIT Kharagpur is one of the best engineering colleges available in India. In the rankings also IIT Kharagpur is one of the top four colleges in India so there is no doubt that IIT Kharagpur has a legacy that it maintains very clearly. I am not saying that other colleges are not good but the courses structure and the amount of content that IIT Kharagpur is unmatched.

Ofcourse this is one of the top college in which i get admission. I get this college in my 1st round of counseling. So no college reject i have faced. My all india rank in GATE is 506 ( GATE XL) from which i get the college.

College is very big and students get a chance for exploring and making good friends and engaging themselves by joining various societies which improves their skills.
It has a very big library which opens till 12 in thenight and during exams it is open all the day, which is a very good advantage for studenta
Campus is provided with all tge necessary emenities for the students. The faculty is also highly qualified and their teachinv techniques are well and understandable.

Dislikes

As it is the oldest IIT, the hostel builfings are very old with a bot poor infrastructure.
It is situated in a village where we dont get a chance to go amd enjoy outside tge campus during holidays.
No other thing that i disliked about the campus as i love my college amd campus.

Admission:

I chose IIT kharagpur because IITs are the top colleges in india whereas my college IIT kharagpur is ranked 4 in India among all the other IITs. It is the first IIT established in our country. It carries its legacy and pride forever. We get the best education here and good placements. One can enter this college through josaa councelling. We need to qualify jee mains and then jee advanced exams. After coincelling, we get the college according to our rank. I applied for both IIT madras and IIT kharagpur. But i couldnt make it to IIT madras beacuse of my rank. But i am happy that i got IIT kharagpur. Both are my preferred colleges.

Institute has different number of clubs where students can connect with a bunch of like minded people.
The fests are way engaging in the whole January month.
Activities in the hostels are highly interactive and make yourself get out of comfort zone

Dislikes

Mess food depends on the hostel you have alloted.

The thing which I liked the most here is the brotherhood and helping nature of the individuals. Everyone from staff to Prof and even the locals here are very kind and polite to students. Students also live like a family.
The Campus is here is very beautiful and as we know it is one of the largest campus of an institute in india, so we have many places to hang out with friends and enjoy. The Institute has blinkit and KFC situtated in it as well.
The Professors here are also highly qualified and have plethora of knowledge. They are very kind and polite to students, if you are eager to learn then you can get outstanding technical learnings from the professors.

Dislikes

The curriculam in my course is highly rigorous and tough, you have to apply high efforts and prepare well to get good grades, as even having difficult syllabus sometimes the prof. may set challenging paper as well depending on them.
The vendors here might charge you high or deviating prices of things, so you must have negotiation skills otherwise you may get fooled.
The mess food is absolutely bad here sometimes and at times you may even have to compromise with hygiene, so you should always save money, to get food from canteens or restaurants here when needed.

Admission:

I also had selected the IIT BHU CSE and IIT KGP MNC but my rank didn't cross the threshold for these so that's why I chose the best for me which was IIT KGP B.Tech. in E&ECE. I was also getting CSE in IIT Dhanbad but I do not have that much interest in CSE, but obviously if I would've got CSE in colleges like IIT BHU, I would've certainly chosen it due to their placements and exposure. The Admission process in IIT Kharagpur is similar like other IITs. First of all crack JEE Advanced and get a good rank to clear the cut-off rank for the Dream Branch you're willing to get (Take previous year ranks as reference), like for E&ECE in IIT KGP Last year closing rank for general in round 5 of JOSAA Counselling was 1448. Apply for Seat allocation on Josaa lock the seats you prefer the most. Once you get a confirmed seat You will get provisional offer letter from josaa, download that. Then collect all the documents needed for Admission in IIT Kharagpur like Xth Marksheet, XIIth Marksheet, Caste Certificate(if applicable) etc. you can check these documents in UG Admission Module given at IIT KGP website. Then Come here in the campus and get the Physical Document verification completed and also one of the halls like LBS for Freshers will be allotted to you and here you now officially you're a kgpian. In my case the Josaa just created some problems like payment updation on websites otehrwise the document verification was very smooth.

Infrastructure is really good, campus is full of greenery
Campus is really Secured with CCTV Cameras installed at various places and security guards are quite friendly.
The faculty members are very helpful, and lectures are interesting with the integration of needed technology in classrooms.

Dislikes

Poor Connectivity from the city, If you need to catch a flight you have to go to Kolkata that is very far.
Hostel Rooms are very old and not that spacious for triple sharing and washrooms are very bad.
weather is not good over their, summers are very Hot and Humid.

I chose IIT KGp over all the other colleges i applied for because of it's academic reputation, big campus placement opportunites and good infrastructure. i was getting a confirmed addmission in DU but they were not providing any hostel facilities and IITKGP provides really strong security without any restriction and gives equal opportunities for both boys and girls.

IIT Kharagpur - A lovely place to explore

Likes

The professors are highly qualified, many with international research exposure.
IIT Kharagpur offers a vibrant campus life with cultural, technical, and sports fests throughout the year.
The campus is huge and well-equipped, with excellent library access, Wi-Fi, departmental labs, gym, swimming pool, and multiple sports facilities.

Dislikes

The girls to boys ratio is around 1:8 in M.Tech courses, creating a visible gender imbalance.
the mess food becomes monotonous and lacks nutritional variety. Most hostels rely heavily on potatoes and chana (chickpeas)
Placement services are strong for core engineering branches, but options in non-core areas like data science, policy

Campus Life was great.lots of activities,club are there.
The classroom are huge . Every class room are well structured. They are equipped with ac.
The weather was good because huge greenary.lots of trees are there.

Dislikes

Mess food. It's very bad and oily.there are option but very less . Some hostels has veg and non veg hostel but food quality is not good ,taste wise also option wise too.
Girls are not allowed in hostel. Even parents are also not allowed. So if they come they have to bid you goodbye from outside Hostel
Huge campus so you need cycle.you can't go by walk .

Admission:

From gate exam we get admission purely based on gate scores. I got in IIT Bombay and IIT Roorkee in education technology and semiconductor device mtech program but it's more placement oriented and good if someone looking to switch in data science or software engineer roles, so I choose it. Almost 100% placement.

I suggest you not to score below 6.5 as CGPA 7 is a must to get admission in a good foreign university. However with a CGPA of 6.5 you can go for Government jobs. I know a friend who did not focus on CGPA and played football and today is struggling to get a good job.

It is all the more difficult to get a good CGPA after low marks in the first semester because the professors evaluate you on the basis of previous grades sometimes. However, you will get placement into a decent private company so you don’t have to worry much.

Basically, even after getting admission at a good institute like IIT KGP, you have to keep struggling to score high marks.

IIT Kharagpur’s Law School does not release in public any cutoffs for admission to its LLB and LLM programs.

IIT Kharagpur selects students for its LLB program based on the marks obtained in a two-hour computer-based test (CBT). All questions are MCQ type, carrying 2 marks each. There is negative marking. The questions are based on Maths, Science, English, Logical reasoning and Legal Aptitude. For the LLM entrance exam, the questions are based on the LLB syllabus approved by the Bar council of India.

Keeping the ROI in mind, and in terms of placement, alumni network, etc B.tech CSE is the best branch amongst all at IIT KGP, however if you are getting admission to any other branch too during counselling, you can opt for branch change which will depend on your CG in the first year and also the availability of seats in the target branch.
