Till now, the basics are being taught, I have talked to seniors of my department and they say that our course is good and curriculum is updated, it will be helpful if they included more computered learning for chemicals such as using computers to synthesize specific material or to emulate how said chemical will perform in certain situations. Our midsems started just 1 month after we came here, I think there should be more time given for the first exam as the students need to adjust as well.

I chose Computer Science because my JEE rank allowed me to take it and I had some interest in it compared to other courses. The course demands very good level of logic and thinking skills, thus you develop a good sense solving problems. But at the same time the curriculum is quite outdated which makes it of very little use in the industry and real world. They can introduce courses which align with the current real world technologies. Two exams are held every semester ant the questuions are mostly form what is discusses in the calss.

Mechanical engineering is the real engineering as i believe in noise and creating something physical than just coding. Tech is also a part of our curriculum but it's the machineries that we are taught the most. Our labs are the best examples of how an engineer should operate and no wonder why all the top engineering units in India have IITians as the founder.

They have started using digital tools and applications while teaching , which helps widely in core company professions. Few subjects like analog circuits and digital circuit are widely in demand, also including the traditional concepts on machines, power systems and control systems The timing between exams is adequate but can be made more engaging by frequent assessments that help understand the concepts deepl

The curriculum is revised in every few years and most of the courses are relevant and there is enough flexibility provided to the students in choosing their coursework . There are options of selecting interdisciplinary courses like computer science student can study Management courses and humanities courses and vice versa . There are however some courses which are old and need to be changed like Engineering Drawing in first year is a very old school course and now does not hold much importance . However things have been revised recently and changing at a good pace . Recently a course related to Gender Sensitisation has been added which is a good addition

Course here is good, comparing with top Architecture colleges is not that much oriented towards architecture but this is the thing which is good for students to pursue their favour6field like consultancy or Finance or management or Tech

The robotics and mechatronics are the future in the tech world and mechanical engineering is an integral part of these tech domains. The training here will encourage all of us to make significant contributions in this field. There are mechatronics labs also in the curriculum and embedded systems can also be taken as elective which has many real world applications. The areas of improvemennt relies upon the fact that the teaching could be more practical and real life application based rather than just based on marks and gradings. The exams are quite good and will test throughout your understanding of the concepts of the subjects.

The curriculum is significantly based on learning the basics of every branch so that we have knowledge about the basics. Further the branch specific courses are pretty much well aligned and more well planned. My branch is chemical and we are learning about the process and the topics required. More branch specific subject should be added. The frequency and timing are pretty well good as our exams occur at 9 to 11 am and 2 to 4pm.

I can't judge the curriculum only in one month ,we have two departmental course and three non departmental course, one is advance calculas, one is mechanics and last is physics of waves, . the physics of waves is the hardest I think

course is fantastic according to me as it is very creative. i have a very deep interest in architecture and reigional planning. it includes various subjects like GVC (graphics and visual communication), BD (basic design), DG (discriptive geometry), BM (building materials), IA (introduction to architecture) , HA (history of architecture) etc. frequency in our course is adjustable as it includes morning classes from 8 am to 12 pm on monday, tuesday, wednesday only. and we have a studio which is open whole week. exam can be either in any shift as we have two shifts (morning and afternoon). morning shift timings are 9 am to 11 am and afternoon shift timings are 2 pm to 4 pm. i think that there is no need to have any improvement in my course as i am finding it easy to manage. yeas, sometimes it becomes loaded due to assignment submission. but its adjustable if you use your maturity to manage all that stuff.

My brother had offers from IITs to choose any branch except CSE and chose Electrical Engineering in IIT KGP. To date, he does not regret his decision. There are ups and downs in every Institute; it just takes time to adapt yourself to such situations.
It is true that some professors overdo it and push you to the extreme, but if you look at this in a positive manner, it’s their pushing that eventually helps you succeed. There are many seniors who might make fun of your tiny efforts in the labs but trust me, today when they will look back, they will surely be regretting the time they wasted watching movies or series.
My brother told me that Electrical Engineering gave him so many friends and experiences that make him yearn for college life today. The labs are old-fashioned and lack much activity in contrast to a SigNet lab/ Power Systems lab.
I think it’s high time people clear misconceptions about Electrical Engineering and develop a positive opinion about it. We should stop running after jobs and companies and in turn let companies seek us.
The Economics branch is slowly becoming one of the best branches of IIT Kharagpur. Integrated M.Sc. (5 years) in Economics opens with JEE rank 3615 and closes at 5439 as per JoSAA 2022. However, it’s not necessary to evaluate a course on the basis of its opening and closing rank because you can get your branch changed on the basis of your performance in the first year.
A student has to obtain around 8.73 CGPA in order to get their branch changed to Economics. You will have to work very hard to get a high CGPA for branch change.
Curriculum: I have entailed some topics covered over the semesters. For a detailed list, you can visit the official website.
You can easily go for Finance and Consulting jobs provided that you study well during these 5 years. The coursework of this department is always industry relevant to cope up with recent trends.

Generally speaking, the best branches at IIT Kharagpur are considered to be CSE and ME. The choice of a branch depends on many factors and is mostly a matter of personal preference rather than the demand of the branch. Irrespective of the branch you join, IIT provides the following to any IIT student
All these things that groom are given to an IITian irrespective of his branch and makes him worthy either of employment to any industry or a good candidate for higher studies in top foreign universities. This is mainly because of the IIT tag.
There are many instances where students from Agricultural & Food Engineering (the least demanded branch) were able to get admission to Robotics’ at the Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), or the MS program of the University of Rochester, New York to study Computational Linguistics.
Ultimately it’s not your branch that determines your worth but
These are much more important and come before your branch preference.
The integrated economics Course from IIT Kharagpur has a wide scope. This course comes under the umbrella of the humanities and social science department. Some of the many prospects offered by this course are
The best part about the economics degree is that you have a lot of free time at your hand and can explore other fields, unlike engineering students who are always busy with their coursework. Moreover, if you’re not sure about any particular branch, then Economics can definitely be a good choice.
It is tough to choose one institute over the other as all institutes have a different approach to teaching, subject curriculum, etc.
I can say with my personal experience that Industrial Systems Engineering at IIT Kharagpur is better than Electrical Engineering at IIT Bhubaneswar. IIT Kharagpur is one of the oldest and best engineering colleges in India.
For the Industrial Systems Engineering branch, top recruiters like American Express, Capillary Technologies, Bosch, Tata Motors, etc. offer an average package between 13 LPA to 15 LPA, and the average placement rate for this course is over 75%.
Even though the statistics for Electrical Engineering placements at IIT Bhubaneswar are better, IIT KGP offers a much stronger alumni network and a richer legacy. To add to this, the flexible curriculum of IIT KGP makes sure that its students can easily fit into any sector.
After considering all the factors, I would suggest you choose Industrial Systems Engineering at IIT KGP over Electrical Engineering at IIT Bhubaneswar. But I would also point out that you must ultimately choose the branch which interests you the most.
