IIT Kharagpur Course Admission 2025: Dates, Fees, Eligibility, Application Process, Selection Criteria

The answer will vary depending on the particular institution and its requirements if you have earned a B.Sc. in Industrial Chemistry and would like to pursue an M.Sc. in Industrial Chemistry.  IIT Kharagpur does not, however, provide an M.Sc. programme that focuses on "Industrial Chemistry."  Instead, applicants who have finished a B.Sc. with a specific number of chemistry subjects are eligible to apply for an M.Sc. in Chemistry (and integrated M.Sc.+Ph.D. in Chemistry).

Eligibility for IIT Kharagpur’s M.Sc in Chemistry:

• B.Sc (Chemistry) or equivalent with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/PwD) from a recognized university.
• Candidates must have studied Mathematics at the 10+2 level.
• For integrated M.Sc+Ph.D. Similar criteria apply, but some programs may require a certain CGPA for progression to the Ph.D. phase

You cannot take direct admission to the regular B.Tech program at IIT Kharagpur without qualifying JEE Advanced. The standard pathway for B.Tech admission at all IITs, including IIT Kharagpur, is through the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) system, you must first qualify JEE Main and then clear JEE Advanced to be eligible for admission.

Alternative routes

You cannot get B.Tech admission at IIT Kharagpur without qualifying JEE Advanced. For other IITs, only a few exceptions exist for non-JEE admission, but none apply to B.Tech at IIT Kharagpur.

Requirements for B.Tech Admission

Applications for IIT Kharagpur's B.Tech programme, which is based on JEE Advanced (after qualifying JEE Main), are only accepted from those who have completed or are studying for their 10+2 (or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) as subjects.

Eligibility for B.Tech Admission

With only a diploma in food technology (without 10+2 PCM), you are NOT eligible for B.Tech admission at IIT Kharagpur or any other IIT via JEE Advanced.
If you wish to pursue B.Tech at IIT Kharagpur, you must complete 10+2 (or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, qualify for JEE Main, and then JEE Advanced

To get admission to IIT Kharagpur for Law, first you must meet the eligibility criteria of the institution. To be eligible for the LLB program, you must:

• Score minimum 60% marks, or a CGPA of 6.5 in 10 point scale, in Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering / Technology / Medicine or equivalent. 

OR

• Score minimum 60% marks, or a CGPA of 6.5 in 10 point scale. in Masters Degree in Science or Pharmacy or equivalent. 

OR

• Score 60% marks, or a CGPA of 6.5 in 10 point scale, in MBA Degree.

Candidates are selected based on the scores obtained in a CBT test conducted by the law department. The admissions for this academic year have already concluded. The classes started from July 22, 2024. 

IIT Kharagpur offers an MBA program at the Vinod Gupta School of Management. The selection of candidates for admission into MBA at IIT KGP is based on-

• An online PI round. The shortlisting of candidates for an interview round is based on their CAT scores, past academic performance, professional qualification, and work experience. 
• Candidates who are shortlisted for PI are invited through email/ERP portal.
• The final selection is done on the basis of a combined score comprising Application Rating (AR), CAT performance, and Personal Interview (PI) performance.

The MBA 2024 admissions have already been conducted, the first round of admissions concluded on 5th May, 2024 .The CAT 2024 is set to take place on November 24, 2024. This exam will be considered for the 2025 admissions.
