IIT Kharagpur allows admission for all the UG & PG courses based on the national-level entrance tests. IIT Kharagpur offers BTech at the UG level which is the most popular course of the institute. The institute allows admission to its BTech program through the JEE Advanced Exam. The JEE-qualified candidates are required to register themselves for the JoSAA counselling for the seat allocation process. Since I was interested in getting into an IIT from class 11, and IIT KGP was the only college that gave the best branch to college ratio among all other IITs that I was eligible for based off my rank. The admission process for my college for B.TECH involves JOSAA, a counselling system for all government engineering colleges in India where the eligibility criteria is based off JEE ADVANCED rank. Since you can only select one college through JOSAA, the only one i selected was this as this was the only one I was alotted based off my rank. The cutoff for my college is around 12000 for General Male and 20000 for General Female. This increases for other categories like SC ST OBC etc.

Our college IIT Kharagpur is one of the best engineering colleges available in India. In the rankings also IIT Kharagpur is one of the top four colleges in India so there is no doubt that IIT Kharagpur has a legacy that it maintains very clearly. I am not saying that other colleges are not good but the courses structure and the amount of content that IIT Kharagpur is unmatched.

Applying for a minor is possible only at the beginning of the 3rd year autumn semester provided that your CGPA is 7.5+. But I suggest you start taking courses related to your minor from the 2nd year autumn semester itself.

Make sure your CGPA is 8+ by the end of each semester, else your minor will be canceled.
On the basis of the requirements given in the minor curriculum list, make a good choice of courses.
You can change your departmental elective by approaching your faculty advisor for the same. He/she will login to his/her ERP and add the desired subject to your list.
One needs to take at least additional 3 or 4 courses to earn a minor in another department.
You are required to maintain your ACGPA (additional CGPA) as well as CGPA (additional SGPA) 6+ once you have registered for minors.

Plan your semesters in such a way that you have available slots for that specific subject.

IIT Bombay: Here, you are required to do some coursework on the topic you have chosen. Choose the course that will give you more opportunities than others. Most Ph.D. students take some courses only to make up the required credits. This is not right as you will miss the opportunity to learn so much from every department. The most preferred courses are CS and Modelling at IIT Bombay.

One can even upgrade their skills in Mathematics and Statistics. Other courses that might help you in research work are fluid mechanics, soil mechanics, inorganic chemistry, solid-state physics, and thermodynamics.

IIT Kharagpur does not, however, provide an M.Sc. programme that focuses on "Industrial Chemistry." Instead, applicants who have finished a B.Sc. with a specific number of chemistry subjects are eligible to apply for an M.Sc. in Chemistry (and integrated M.Sc.+Ph.D. in Chemistry).

Eligibility for IIT Kharagpur’s M.Sc in Chemistry:

B.Sc (Chemistry) or equivalent with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/PwD) from a recognized university.
Candidates must have studied Mathematics at the 10+2 level.
For integrated M.Sc+Ph.D. Similar criteria apply, but some programs may require a certain CGPA for progression to the Ph.D. phase
