Mess : Every mess have different mess but food and meal in all hostel not satisfy students daily need as mostly there is paneer and potato only and variety is very narrow and whenever we complain for that there is always a excuese of budget.
Hostel : There are 21 hostels in college out of which most of which are older than 30 years which need maintenance and upgradation most frequent problem of water shortage is shit for students.

Hostel Facilities:

The hostel facilities at IIT KGP are well- organized and designed to support student life comforatbly. Each student is provided with basic furniture including a bed,study table,chair,cupboard and a ceiling fan or AC in few hostels. Rooms are well-ventilleted and spacious in few hostels while some have.... High speed LAN and wi fi connectivity is offered tpo each student The mess food quality is decent and healthy, with a well-planned menu according to institute but reality is quite different but quality is ok, only problem is lack of different menu there is only paneer and potato in meal mostly and brekfast is quite good with variety. Snacks is also provided in evening. The hostel registration process is straightforward, usually completed during admission through the institute portal and document verification on arrival. Hostel fees are afforadle compared to private accomadation.

Being the oldest iit some buildings are very old and need maintenance hostel rooms feels very old and boring.

in my hostel room, there is a attcahed washroom between 4 people and two room separate where 4 people can easily live. there is 2 or 3 sharing in the rooms are provided. there are almirah provided to every student.

The mess food varies from hostel to hostel, so your experience may very from your peers.

Hostel Facilities:

The hostel facility is great and rooms vary from hostel to hostel. The rooms range from single to triple sharing. There are fans, wardrobes and beds that come with every room. Meal quality is average with non veg being served 3 days a week. A new menu is given each month. There is no such registration process for hostels and I have already mentioned the hostel fees before.

Sometimes it becomes tough to find good food inside campus.

Hostel Facilities:

There is hostel facility available for every joinee and this is a fully accomodation campus. No student needs to arrange for his own accomodation. Cleaper hostels with world class facilitiea are there for every student getting admission in iit KGP. The food is very good in quality here. You will get 4 meals a day in hostels. The registration process is fully automated and you don't need to worry at all everything is taken care of by the administration itself. But even after this if you need rented accomodation you can definitely opt out for that.

As it is the oldest IIT, the hostel builfings are very old with a bot poor infrastructure.

Hostel Facilities:

Hostles are also good. We get electricity, hot and cold water, free college every where in the campus. We have guest houses for accomodation of parents or any relatives. It is paid and should be booked. Food quality in mess is good but not so good same like all the hostels. We get breakfast, lunch, snacks amd dinner. We will have special dinner every month with dj arrangement for students. Hostel fees including mess fees will be approxinately 40000 per semester. It is affordable.

Hostels also called as Halls are alloted by the institute. Its on a random basis. Few hostels have 3 sharing, few have a double sharing and a few have single sharing rooms. Rooms are well equipped with all the facilities.

The mess food is absolutely bad here sometimes

Hostel Facilities:

There is a fan, a bed, a table and a chair provided in the room per person, you have to buy other things like mattress, pillow etc. on your own. The quality of meal here is average to poor in mess, even sometimes you have to compromise with hygiene as well, So I will suggest that always keep money so that you can get food from canteens or restaurants when you don't like the food. We have Special Dinners and Grand dinners as well, here you get delicious and good quality dishes but they charge very high for that. The registration process is simple after coming here for Document verification, you have to fill a form and submit to the hall office after which you will get allotted a room. It depends on the respective halls, whether they are affordable or not as fee varies with hall, but in case of LBS I think its highly affordable as per sem fee is 40k.

IIT KGP has around 25 Hostels called as Hall and hostel life varies depending upon which hall you get. in the first year you have to live in four sharing rooms for girls and triple sharing room for boys in every room you get a almirah, chair study table and a bed. Overall mess food is good but it depends on hall some halls provide reall good quality of food specially girls hall but in some halls mess food in not so good. overall IIT KGP is pretty affordable in comparision to other institutes.

Hostel Facilities:

Look i got MMM hall of Residence here. In this hall Double or triple occupancy is there. If the double rooms got full , then in that cae you will get triple(minor case), but triple rooms are best here. There is average food quality here.(3/5) Simple they will give you the form you will have to fill it and give it to them for your registration and the your rooms will be alloted. Vashundra is the nearest rentable hotels and many more are there.

i have got to a hostel named MMM here i have got 2 bed sharing room with a attached bathroom .here we have almost 25 washing machines to wash our clothes off. hostels are alloted itself with admissions and registration process happens at hostels after you reach campus after admission. food here is good and bad(rarely). we got a fusion of north indian and south indian cuisines here.

How are the hostel rooms at IIT Kharagpur?

Out of 20 hostels, the size of rooms in every hostel is different. The best rooms are available in

Vidyasagar Hall of Residence for UG students. This hall provides single-room occupancy. In fact, many other halls like Meghnad Shah Hall of Residence and Patel hall of Residence to provide single-room occupancies, it’s the superior quality of the environment at Vidyasagar Hall that steals the show.

Other multiple occupancy halls that are pretty good include the LBS Hall of Residence. This hall is usually allocated to first-year UG students.

The worst hostels in terms of facilities are Patel, Azad, and Nehru. The rooms of these hostels were initially made for 2 students each but now they have become triple room occupancy.

PG students are allotted the MMM, BR Ambedkar, and VS Hall of residence. The BR Ambedkar Hall of residence has the best facilities and rooms among all the three halls of residence.

Facilities inside a room include two sockets, one LAN port, a steel bed, a wooden chair, and a wooden table. Every hostel corridor has an excellent wifi connection also.

IIT Kharapur has around 18-20 hostels. There are 2 main girl hostels that will be allotted to you way before you reach IIT KGP for admission.

Once you reach, that particular hostel will go through your documents and a lot of room. The rooms are usually double occupancy so you can ask for sharing the room with a specific friend also. You are also allowed to change your rooms after 15-20 days provided that you inform the hostel authority of the same and get registered under the new room.

For UG girls IIT KGP has two main halls of residence: Sarojini Naidu Hall (SN) and Mother Teresa Hall(MT).

This is the most lively and oldest hall at the institute which has managed to promote both academics and social and cultural activities in the form of events and competitions, organized by students, Gymkhana. The students of this hall are majorly involved in the spring fest, Kshitij, etc.
The hall is divided into A, B, H, E, F, G, N, NR, W, and S blocks in four different buildings.
The Hostel boasts its own basketball court, a well-equipped gym for health freaks, and table tennis facilities.
Singing and dancing activities are practiced in the music room which has all the necessary facilities for the same.
The hall also has its own student-driven library that issues the required books to all the wingmates for a complete semester.
Food at this hostel is pretty good, and there is a night canteen food stall and a Nescafe within the hall that satisfies the untimely cravings of the hostellers.
