The GATE Application form correction 2026 window is expected to open in October 2026 and will continue till November 2026, giving candidates enough time to correct the mistakes made by them.

In the GATE Application form correction process, candidates can download the application form from the official website to correct the details like address, educational qualification, date of birth and gender.

• The GATE Registration process 2026 will start from 25th August 2026 and will continue till 25th September 2026, and for late registration fee, it will be open till 6th October 2026.
• For changes like gender or category, candidates will have to pay the additional fees and proper documentation process.

The application forms submitted for GATE 2026 are checked by the authorities to verify the accuracy of the data. 

• The authorities check the uploaded documents, the clarity of the photograph and the signature. 
• If every document and details provided by the candidates are found to be in order then the application will be accepted. 
• In case any defect is found in the application form then the same will be marked and intimated to the respective candidate for correction via e-mail and/or SMS, which the candidate has provided while filling the application form.
• The correction needs to be done within the time period provided by the authorities. Failing to do so on time can lead to the rejection of the application
• The status of the candidate’s application can be checked anytime by logging into GOAPS.

IISc Banglore has completed GATE 2026 application scrutiny till October 31. In case of any defects, candidates will be informed of the same through the official email during correction window.

After submitting the application form, it goes under scrutiny where the form is checked as per the specifications mentioned in GATE Information Brochure. As only certain details can be edited in GATE Application Form and if the mistakes cannot be rectified then you have to apply again for GATE with a new E-mail ID and Phone Number. It must be noted that the previous application fee shall not be refunded.

• IISc Banglore will also provide the facility to candidates who are interested in changing their GATE 2026 exam center. An additional fee will be applicable for changing the exam city, which will be informed later.

Details about the defects will be available at gate2026.iitr.ac.in. Any one of the following messages will be displayed on the user’s window for GATE 2026 Login:

• Received – The application form is successfully submitted
• Under Scrutiny – GATE Application is under check
• Accepted – No correction required, form is accepted
• Defect Status – Marked defects to be rectified in the application form
• Status after Rectification – Status of the form after making changes
• Rejected with Valid Reasons – Application form which is not rectified within the stipulated time frame

How to Make Corrections in GATE 2026 Application Form?

Once students get details on the corrections required they can follow the following steps to make the required modifications online: 

• Step 1: Log in at the GOAPS website
• Step 2: Enter Enrollment ID/Email Address, Password, and Captcha.
• Step 3: Click on Edit GATE Application Form and make the changes.
• Step 4: After rectifying the required information, verify it before saving the application form and subsequently Save and View the Application.
• Step 5: Submit the form and Proceed to Payment after verifying all the changes.
• Step 7: Download GATE corrected application form for future reference.

What After GATE Application Form Correction 2026?

After GATE application form correction window closes, the submitted application forms will be scrutinized for accuracy. Only those candidates whose GATE 2026 form is found to be correct will be issued GATE admit card in January 2026. GATE 2026 admit card will be issued online only and not be sent by post or email.
