During the GATE Application process, candidates have to upload the required documents, which include a recent passport-size photo and a clear signature, along with reservation certificates by reserved category candidates the during the GATE Application process in a PDF Format.

The Documents should be uploaded in the required format & Size guidelines set by IIT Guwahati, the conducting body of GATE 2026.

  • The photograph should be properly scanned, should be taken after 1st August 2026, with 80% of the face to be covered with a white background, in a JPEG/JPG Format between 10 KB to 200 KB, and the size should be 3.5cm x 4.5 cm.
  • The Candidate’s signature should be in black or blue ink on white paper, scanned at high resolution and updated in JPEG/PNG/JPG format and cover 70-80% of the image in between 10KB to 200KB in size.
  • The Candidates belonging to the reserved category should upload the category certificates in a PDF Format, to be issued by a competent authority.
  • The International Candidates have to upload a valid Passport or government-issued national ID, and an Aadhar card is not mandatory for foreign nationals.

On the day of the GATE Exam, candidates have to carry a printed copy of the Admit Card, with a Valid Photo ID Used which is used in the application process and a passport-size photograph, which should be the same as the uploaded photograph.

The GATE Documents Required should be scanned properly and meet the resolution and size limits, and should be uploaded in a correct format, as if not followed properly, it can lead to rejection of the candidate's application.
