How to Download GATE 2026 Response Sheet?

Before downloading GATE 2026 Response sheet candidates need to keep a few things in mind. These include- 

• GATE 2026 Response Sheet is only accessible to registered candidates. 
• If you have registered but have not appeared for the examination then you can’t download the response sheet. 
• The response sheet is available only after the successful login through GOAPS whereas answer keys will be available for all at the official portal.

• Visit the official website- gate2026.iitr.ac.in and login to GOAPS/ Candidate Portal.
• Log in using your GATE 2026 enrollment ID/ email and password

GATE 2026 response sheet of a candidate is comprised of the responses entered by the candidate in the exam. Other than that, more information or details are also present on GATE response sheet. In case of any kind of discrepancy in the details mentioned in your response sheet, you should report it immediately to the concerned authorities. However, the chances of any discrepancy are very low. Candidates can find the following details in their GATE response sheet:

• Candidate Registration Number or ID
• Candidate Name
• Test Center Name
• Test Date, Slot and Day
• Subject for which a candidate appeared in the examination
• Questions along with the options
• Question ID
• Status of the Questions- Answered or unanswered
• Chosen option by the candidate

Calculation of Score Using GATE 2026 Response Sheet

By comparing GATE 2026 Response sheet with the answer key candidates can get an idea about the total number of correct and incorrect answers. After that, candidates can also calculate their rough score according to the marking scheme.

GATE 2026 Marking Scheme

• Each question in GATE 2026 is for 1 or 2 marks.
• As per the marking scheme of GATE for all 29 disciplines, NATs and MSQs do not have any negative marking. 
• However, for 1 mark MCQ, 1/3 marks will be deducted for incorrect answers and for 2 mark MCQ, 2/3 marks will be deducted for incorrect answers. 
• The total marks are 100. 

Formula to Calculate Score using GATE Response Sheet

• First of all check or compare your responses with the answer key released by the authorities. 
• Then separate the 1 and 2 marks questions. Also separate the NAT, MSQs and MCQs to avoid any confusion while calculating the score. 
  • In Case of MCQs:
    • Total Marks = (1 x Total Number of Correct Answers) – (1/3 x Total Number of Incorrect Answers)
    • Total Marks = (2 x Total Number of Correct Answers) – (2/3 x Total Number of Incorrect Answers?)
  • In Case of NATS:
    • Total Marks = (1 x Total Number of correct answers of 1 mark) + (2 x Total Number of correct answers of 2 marks)
  • In Case of MSQs:
    • Total Marks = (1 x Total Number of correct answers of 1 mark) + (2 x Total Number of correct answers of 2 marks)
• Total Marks: Total Marks in MCQs + Total Marks in MSQs + Total Marks in NATs

Raise Objection Against Answer Key Using GATE 2026 Response Sheet

The important purpose of providing GATE 2026 response sheet to the candidates is to give them a chance to raise objections against the answer key. Candidates can compare their response sheets with the official GATE 2026 answer key released on the official website. By taking advantage of this opportunity applicants can challenge the answer key if they believe that the answer marked by them is correct. If the objections are found to be valid then candidates will get positive marks for that answer and after the completion of this whole process, the final answer key will be revised and no one can raise any objection against the final answer key. 

• Candidates will have to pay INR 500 per objection with the required documents to prove their objection.
