GATE 2026 Marking Scheme
- Each question in GATE 2026 is for 1 or 2 marks.
- As per the marking scheme of GATE for all 29 disciplines, NATs and MSQs do not have any negative marking.
- However, for 1 mark MCQ, 1/3 marks will be deducted for incorrect answers and for 2 mark MCQ, 2/3 marks will be deducted for incorrect answers.
- The total marks are 100.

Formula to Calculate Score using GATE Response Sheet
- First of all check or compare your responses with the answer key released by the authorities.
- Then separate the 1 and 2 marks questions. Also separate the NAT, MSQs and MCQs to avoid any confusion while calculating the score.
- In Case of MCQs:
- Total Marks = (1 x Total Number of Correct Answers) – (1/3 x Total Number of Incorrect Answers)
- Total Marks = (2 x Total Number of Correct Answers) – (2/3 x Total Number of Incorrect Answers?)
- In Case of NATS:
- Total Marks = (1 x Total Number of correct answers of 1 mark) + (2 x Total Number of correct answers of 2 marks)
- In Case of MSQs:
- Total Marks = (1 x Total Number of correct answers of 1 mark) + (2 x Total Number of correct answers of 2 marks)
