The syllabus of GATE released on the website gate2025.iitr.ac.in, and it is same as of the previous year. The Mining Engineering syllabus includes Engineering Mathematics and other core topics. Candidates appearing for the Mining (MN) paper must appear for the General Aptitude as well. Total 85 marks are allotted for the Mining paper and 15 marks for the General Aptitude.
IISC Bangalore started two paper combinations in GATE 2025 examination. Students appearing for Mining Engineering (MN) paper, can also appear in Geomatics Engineering (GE) and Geology & Geophysics (GG).
If we talk about the previous year’s paper analysis, the highest number of questions came from Geomechanics and Ground Control, which is approximately 13. Instead of this, 8 questions came from the Engineering Mathematics portion.
In Engineering Mathematics, topics like Linear Algebra, Calculus, Differential Equations, Probability and Statistics are very crucial and must be read thoroughly. “Advanced Engineering Mathematics” by RK Jain and SRK Iyengar can be considered by students. It is one of the good books with theory as well as problematic solutions. Read the entire article below to get acquainted with the syllabus and preparation tips.
