GATE 2026 Toppers List: IIT Guwahati will release the GATE 2026 Result on March 19, 2026. Along with the results, it will also released GATE Toppers list. GATE 2026 toppers list will be out at GOAPS portal on gate2026.iitr.ac.in. You will be able to download GATE 2026 Exam scorecards between March 27 to May 31, 2026.
“After the results are announced, IIT Guwahati will release discipline-wise GATE 2026 toppers' list. The list is prepared by including the names of top-ranking candidates with marks and scores."
You can check branch-wise AIR 1 for all 30 papers from GATE Toppers List once it is released. Here are the AIR 1 toppers across various papers for the last year (GATE 2025), including their raw marks (out of 100) and GATE scores (out of 1000):

Many GATE toppers achieved a near-perfect GATE score of 1000 (normalized). For popular papers like Electronics & Communication Engineering (EC), one topper was Swarnava Biswas with 82.67 marks and 1000 score. In 2025, 18.97% students cleared the GATE exam and in 2024, 20.7% cleared the test. Once the results are released, you need to apply for GATE Counselling.
IIT Guwahati does not conduct any centralized GATE Counselling 2026. Instead, two different GATE counselling processes are being held for admission to M.Tech colleges in India- CCMT and COAP 2026.
- The GATE COAP counselling is conducted for admission to M.Tech programs in IITs
- GATE CCMT 2026 counselling is conducted for admission to M.Tech programs in NITs, IIITs, GFTIs & CFTIs.

Ans. Unfortunately, no one has ever scored perfect 100 marks in GATE. The highest ever score in GATE is 98.33 scored in ME in 2015.
Ques. What is a good GATE rank in CSE?
Ans. A rank above 75 is considered to be a good rank in GATE CSE. Candidates securing more than 750 marks can get top IITs.
Overall, GATE rank below 200 is considered good to get admission to IITs, or NITs. GATE 2024 Toppers list will be updated here once the results are out. However, you can check the list of previous years’ toppers to know GATE score at which candidates received an AIR 1.

GATE 2021 Toppers- AIR 1 with Scores
IIT Bombay released the list of GATE 2021 Toppers along with the result. As many as 38 candidates bagged AIR 1 in GATE 2021. Out of the total 7,11,542 candidates who appeared for the exam, 1,26,813 cleared the exam. The pass percentage for the papers varied from 8.42% to 29.54%.

GATE is among the most competitive entrance exams in India. Every year over 10 lakh candidates apply for the exam making it difficult to obtain a rank high enough to land a seat in a good college like an IIT. - Make yourself familiar with GATE exam pattern
- GATE is administered only once in a year. The duration of the paper is 3 hours. 65 questions are asked bearing a total of 100 marks.

Ques: Can only GATE 2026 Topper download their scorecard?
Ans: All the candidates who appear for the exam can check their GATE 2026 Results. However, only GATE-qualified candidates will be able to download their scorecards. You can download your GATE 2026 scorecard using GOAPS. To do so, you will be required to enter your enrollment ID or email address, GOAPS password, and captcha.
Ques: How many GATE 2021 Toppers secured AIR 1 in the exam?
Ans: As many as 1,26,813 candidates cleared GATE 2021. Of these, 38 candidates secured AIR 1 in the 27 papers.
Ques. If GATE 2026 Toppers have scored the same marks then in that case what will be their ranks?
Ans: GATE 2026 Score Calculation involves score normalization for papers conducted in multi-sessions. The raw marks (for single-session papers) and normalized marks (for multi-session papers) are used for computing GATE score (out of 1000) and GATE ranks is decided on the basis of these scores.
Ques: Can a GATE 2026 Topper with 700 marks in CS target IIT Madras for M.Tech?
Ans: Maybe. IIT Madras is among the top-ranking engineering college in India as per NIRF ranking. As per the previous year data, GATE Cut off for IIT Madras was 799 for the General category for CS. Meanwhile, the cut off for OBC, SC and ST were 658, 537 and 345 respectively. Ques: What is the highest package of a GATE Topper?
Ans: Salary packages of GATE Toppers depend on a number of factors. Since GATE scores are also used for PSU recruitment, if a topper joins a PSU they can get a packing ranging from INR 12-30 Lakhs per annum. However, if a GATE Topper prefers to join MTech at IIT or NIT, his/her salary package will depend on the performance in MTech and the job interview.
