GATE 2027 syllabus has been revised after 5 years. IIT Madras has published the paper-wise syllabus on July 20, 2026, at gate2027.iitm.ac.in.

You can download the official GATE 2027 syllabus PDFs for all 30 test papers directly from the Graduate Test Paper and Syllabus Portal managed by IIT Madras

• The GATE Syllabus consists of General Aptitude, Engineering Mathematics and respective core subject-specific topics.
• IIT Madras has introduced Robotics and Automation (RA) as a new GATE Paper 2027.
• As per the revised syllabus, Textile Engineering and Fibre Science (TF) is now a sectional paper in Engineering Sciences.

What is GATE Robotics and Automation Syllabus?

GATE Robotics and Automation Syllabus consists of two parts:

• Part A (60 marks) and Part B (25 marks).
• Part A is common for all the candidates as it includes Engineering Mathematics
• Part B contains two parts: Part B1 (Electrical) and Part B2 (Mechanical)

The choice of Part B1 or Part B2 can be made during the examination

Part A consists of 39 questions carrying a total of 60 marks.

• 18 questions carrying 1 mark each
• 21 questions carrying 2 marks each.

Part B1 (Electrical) and Part B2 (Mechanical) consist of 16 questions each carrying a total of 25 marks:

• 7 questions carrying 1 mark each

In the post, it was said that core subjects are completely identical, but DL, COA and CN got changed. As per the GATE 2027 CSE Syllabus change, the user stated that-

• Digital Logic- They now explicitly list minimisation methods like K-maps and tabular techniques. Emphasise the actual design of circuits rather than just listing them.
• COA- The control unit section is now split into hardwired and microprogrammed design. They also added cache memory mapping and dropped explicit mentions of main and secondary storage.
• Computer Networks- This section has many removals of old topics. Dropped the OSI stack, ARP, DHCP, ICMP, and UDP. Routing protocols like flooding are omitted. The application layer has only DNS and HTTP.
