GATE 2027 Expected Exam Dates

IIT Madras as the GATE 2027 Organizing Institute

IIT Madras will organize GATE 2027. The responsibility of conducting GATE rotates among seven IITs — IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras and IIT Roorkee — and IISc Bangalore. IIT Madras last organized GATE in 2021 and returns as the organizing institute for the 2027 cycle.

How to Apply for GATE 2027

Once the GATE 2027 notification is live on gate.iitm.ac.in, students can apply through GOAPS (GATE Online Application Processing System). The expected application steps based on the GATE 2026 process are given below.

1. Visit gate.iitm.ac.in and click on the GOAPS registration link.
2. Register using your email address and mobile number to receive an enrollment ID and password.
3. Log in to GOAPS and fill in your personal, communication, eligibility and paper selection details.
4. Choose your preferred exam paper(s) — up to two papers in select combinations — and up to three exam city preferences.
5. Upload your scanned photograph, signature and required documents such as degree certificate and category certificate (if applicable).
6. Pay the application fee online via net banking, debit card or credit card and submit the form.
7. Download and save the application confirmation PDF for future use.

Eligibility (expected): Students currently in the final year of a bachelor’s degree in engineering, technology, architecture, science or related fields, or those who have already completed the degree, are eligible to apply.
