GATE 2027 has no age limit and no maximum attempt limit — any student currently in the 3rd year or higher of a qualifying degree in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, or Science is eligible to apply.

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2027 will be a national-level Computer-Based Test for admissions to M.Tech and PhD programmes at IITs, NITs, and other centrally funded institutions, as well as for PSU recruitment. GATE 2027 Educational Qualification

GATE 2027 Number of Attempts

There is no limit on how many times you can appear for GATE. Unlike some competitive exams, GATE does not impose an attempt cap — you may take the exam year after year until you achieve your target score. A valid GATE score remains active for three years from the date of announcement of results, so you can use scores from GATE 2025, 2026, or 2027 for admissions in the 2027-28 academic session, as applicable.

Many students appear multiple times to improve their score for admission to top IITs or for PSU recruitment, where higher GATE scores open more doors. Each attempt is treated independently, and your best valid score from within the three-year window typically counts for admission purposes.

Appearing in Two GATE Papers

GATE 2027 permits students to sit for up to two papers in a single examination cycle.
