The NTA has officially started the JEE Main 2026 Session 1 registration on the official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in till 27th November 2025. To apply for JEE Main 2026, you have to complete the Aadhar verification, fill out the registration form, submit the required documents, and complete the fee payment.
Candidates applying for the JEE Main 2026 must ensure that their details on the Aadhaar card are correct, as important information like name, gender, date of birth, and photograph will be verified through the Aadhaar e-KYC system. The JEE Main application correction window will open from December 1st to December 2nd, 2025.
The JEE Main Exam will be held in 2 sessions. Session 1 will be conducted from 21st to 30th January 2026, and Session 2 will be conducted from 1st April to 10th April 2026 in a CBT mode.
The NTA has shared a major update: no calculators are allowed in the JEE Main exam. It was a typographic error in the information bulletin that showed it was allowed, but the NTA has now published a notice clarifying the same.

To appear for JEE Main, there is no age limit to appear in the exam, but to get admission to top NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs, you should have a minimum of 75% marks in class 12.
This year, NTA will use CBSE class 11th registration numbers of candidates appearing for JEE Main 2026 to prevent the exam dates from clashing with CBSE Class 12 Board exams. All CBSE-affiliated schools must share these registration numbers with NTA, and students are required to fill out the CBSE Class 11 registration numbers while filling out the JEE Main application form.

What is JEE Main 2026?
The JEE Main 2026, conducted by NTA, is for admission to NITs, IITs, and GFTIs and as a qualifying exam for JEE Advanced. The JEE Main Exam will be held in a CBT mode, except for the Drawing section of Paper 2A (B.Arch).
Big Changes in JEE Main 2026
The NTA has announced some major changes in the JEE Main 2026 to reflect a strong shift towards digital modernization, more transparency in the exam, and inclusivity.
- Live Photo Capture: Candidates’ live photo will be taken via webcam during form filling to ensure real-time identity verification and prevent fake or edited photos.
- Aadhaar e-KYC Verification: Candidate details (name, photo, gender, DOB) will be auto-verified using Aadhaar, reducing form errors and verification time by 25–30%.
- Exam City Based on Aadhaar Address: Exam centers will be allotted as per Aadhaar address to prevent manipulation, and NTA has increased the exam centres to 323.
- Accessibility Mode for PwD Candidates: New assistive tools like magnifier, dark mode toggle, and larger fonts have been introduced to improve accessibility for 2,000–2,500 PwD candidates. The keyboard navigation has also been introduced; now you can use the UP and DOWN keys to navigate the questions without needing to scroll.
- On-Screen Calculator: For the first time, an on-screen calculator will be available during the exam to reduce calculation errors and save time, improving accuracy by 2–3%.

Ques. How many sessions are there in JEE Mains 2026?
Ans. The JEE Main 2026 will be conducted in 2 sessions, tentatively Session 1 in January 2026 and Session 2 in April 2026.
The JEE Main registration for Session 1 is expected to start in November 2026, while for Session 2 it is expected in February 2026.

To apply for JEE Main 2026, a candidate must satisfy the eligibility criteria, like Educational Qualification, Age Limit, Nationality, etc.
“To appear for the JEE Main 2026 exam, there is no requirement of 75% or minimum marks in Class 12.”
