Strategy for JEE Main Mock Test 2025

Mock Tests are a means to identify your weaker topics and mistakes so that you can work on them to improve your score in the real JEE Main exam. After analyzing your mistakes, you should make sure to learn those topics well so you do not repeat the same mistakes. Mock tests help to improve your score as they make you learn Time management, Attempt Strategy, Mistakes Analysis, and Handling Pressure. Let’s discuss one by one.

Time Management

After attempting a mock test, analyze where you spent your time, both on the question and subject levels. For every question, analyze how much time you spent and check if you marked the correct answer or not. Similarly, learn to split your time wisely between the exam sections. Ideally, you should not spend too much time on any section.

Deeply analyze why you spent more time answering some questions. Most probably, you would have read the topic and were confident of solving the question but stuck midway while solving it. But this is a wrong approach, don’t take any question on your ego. There are some alerts that you should move to the next one.

  • First Alert is when you read a question but don’t understand anything, or you start to solve it but cannot reach anywhere in more than a minute. In this scenario, you should skip the question and move on to the next.
  • Second Alert is that you have an idea about the question, and you have already spent 3 minutes on solving it. In this case, too, please move on to the next question. Time Management can be assumed to be very normal, but in reality, it can do wonders if worked upon properly.

Attempt Strategy

Solving questions serially as they are given in the test can be a disaster. You don’t have to keep solving the questions serially but solve them using a roundwise strategy. You can use the 30-20-10 rule to implement the Roundwise strategy in each section.

  • For the first 30 minutes, you should attempt to solve the easiest questions from the section. You must learn to identify easy questions and solve them within the time limit.
  • For the next 20 minutes, you should attempt to solve the moderate questions that you think can be solved.
  • Now, in the last 10 minutes, try to attempt the hard questions, or you can work on some easier questions that might have needed more time. This strategy will ensure you leave no questions unturned, which generally happens otherwise.

Mistakes Analysis

After attempting a mock test, you have to analyze your mistakes which are generally of three types: Silly, Conceptual, or Random Guess.

  • For Silly mistakes, try to find and eliminate the reasons behind them. They generally happen when your mind gets diverted, and you do some calculation wrong. You have to eliminate the causes of silly mistakes.
  • For Conceptual mistakes, you might have forgotten some concepts or made some errors. To overcome them, you should learn those topics well and practice their Topic Mock Tests.
  • For Guesses, you need to analyze whether it was an educated or just a random guess. Guesses don’t always work, and everyone needs to analyze what works for them.

Handling Pressure

While sitting in a real exam, there is pressure on your mind to perform well as it is the final attempt, and your mind thinks you can’t mess this up. But in reality, this messes things up. Whereas there is no such pressure while attempting mock tests at your convenience. So to benefit from mock tests, you should attempt the mock tests under real pressure conditions. You should sit in a place where no one should disturb you, and you don’t get distracted. Usually, toppers try to attempt the mock tests in less than the allotted time to compensate for the time that may get lost due to exam pressure.

Ans. Predicting the difficulty of JEE Main 2025 is tricky, as it depends on several factors, including:

  • Previous year's exam difficulty: JEE Main 2024 papers were considered moderately difficult, with Physics being the most difficult section of the three. This could indicate a similar or slightly different level for 2025.
  • Number of test takers: The number of registered students can influence the overall difficulty. If there are more test takers, the competition becomes stiffer, and the cut-off scores might rise.
  • Exam pattern and syllabus: Any changes to the exam pattern or syllabus can impact the difficulty. NTA revised JEE Main 2025 syllabus while no changes were made to the exam pattern. 11 chapters have been deleted from JEE Main 2025 syllabus pdf. This change in the syllabus will definitely affect the difficulty level of the exam. The major change in expected in the Chemistry section where the most number of chapters have been deleted (especially the ones that required a lot of rote memorization).

However, it's important to remember that "easy" is subjective to each aspirant. What might be easy for one student could be challenging for another. Your preparation level, strengths, and weaknesses will ultimately determine how difficult you find the exam.
