The JEE Main 2026 Session 1 Exam will be held from 21st to 30th January 2026, whereas Session 2 will be held from 1st to 10th April 2026 by NTA for admission into NITs, IIITs and other top engineering colleges, and for JEE Advanced Eligibility 2026.
- The JEE Main 2026 Application process for Session 1 has started on 31st October 2025 to 27th November 2025, on the official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in.
- The JEE Main City intimation slip for session 1 is expected to be first week of January 2026 and the admit card will be released few days before the exam. The JEE Main session 1 result will be released by 12th February 2026.
The JEE Main Registration for Session 2 will start from the last week of january 2026. As there are 2 sessions, you can manage the schedule of board exams in a better way and increase their chances to score high percentile in JEE Main 2026.

JEE Main Exam Date and Time 2026
The JEE Main 2026 exam date and time are expected to follow a similar pattern to previous years. The exam will be conducted in 2 sessions

- JEE Main 2026 Session 2: It is expected to start from 2nd to 9th April 2026.
What is the timing of the JEE Mains exam?
For Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech.), exams will be held in two shifts each day:
- Morning shift: 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM
- Afternoon shift: 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM
Paper 2A (B.Arch.) and 2B (B.Planning), the exams are conducted in a single shift, typically in the afternoon from 3:00 PM to 6:30 PM in Session 1.
For JEE Main 2026 Session 2 Time Slots:
- Paper 1 (BE/B.Tech): 9:00 AM–12:00 PM & 3:00 PM–6:00 PM
- Paper 2A/B: Morning (9:00 AM–12:30 PM) & Afternoon (3:00 PM–6:30 PM) depending on paper

JEE Main Exam Pattern 2026
The JEE Main 2026 will follow the same Exam pattern as JEE Main 2025, and it varies by paper. The Paper 1
- Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech): 75 questions (25 each in PCM) with 20 MCQs + 5 NVQs per subject, making it a total of 300 marks for 3 hours, each correct answer will be awarded +4, and -1 for each wrong answer.
- Paper 2A (B.Arch): 77 questions: 20 MCQs + 5 NVQs in Maths, 50 MCQs aptitude, 2 drawing questions (offline) for 400 total marks in 3 hours.
- Paper 2B (B.Plan): 20 MCQs + 5 NVQs Maths, 50 MCQs aptitude, 25 MCQs planning (no drawing) for 400 marks in 3 hours.

Is JEE Mains twice a year?
Yes, JEE Main is conducted twice a year, generally in January and April sessions, to provide flexibility for the candidates. The aspirants get two opportunities per year to attempt the JEE Main exam.

JEE Main City Intimation Slip 2026
The JEE Main city intimation slip provides information about the exam city allotted to each candidate, while the exact address of the exam center and seat details are provided in the admit card.
For session 1, the city intimation slip is expected to be released in the 2nd week of January 2026, and for session 2, it will be released in the 3rd week of March 2026.

JEE Main Answer Key 2026
The NTA will release the JEE Main 2026 Answer key around 3-4 days after each session’s exam on the official website - jeemain.nta.nic.in.
But before that, the JEE Main Provisional Answer will be released around ~3–4 days after the Session 1 exam same for Session 2.
The candidate will be provided a chance to rectify any errors in the marking of the answers, and objections can be raised by paying ₹200 per question (refunded if accepted), which will last 2-3 days, followed by the release of the final JEE Main Answer key.
It is expected that JEE Main 2026 Session 1’s Answer key will be released after 1 week of the exam, and Session 2’s answer key after 3-7 days.

JEE Main 2026 Counselling Schedule (JoSAA)
The JoSAA Counselling 2026 is expected to start on 3rd June 2026 after the release of JEE Advanced results, following the JEE Main 2025 pattern.
- The JoSAA Counselling is divided into 6 rounds of seat allotment, with round 6 only for the IITs.
- The Mock Allotments are expected to start from 9 and 11 June 2026, where Round 1 of seat allotment helps students in refining their choices early.
- Each allotment round has around a 4–5 day reporting window for fee payment and document upload.
- The Choice Filling window will start from 3 to 12 June 2026.
- The CSAB special rounds for NIT+ seats will follow in August for the vacant seats.
