The JEE Main Chemistry syllabus 2026 has not been released yet, but it is expected to be of the same pattern as in previous years. It will include major topics from Physical, Inorganic and organic chemistry, which will cover the topics from NCERT Class 11th and 12th.

  • The Physical Chemistry contributes the weightage of 35-40% in the chemistry section, including the atomic structure, chemical bonding, thermodynamics, chemical kinetics and states of matter.
  • Organic chemistry contributes the weightage of 30-35% in the chemistry section. Students should be well aware of the reaction mechanism, isomerism, and properties of the compounds.
  • Inorganic Chemistry has the highest weightage in the theory questions of the chemistry section. Including topics such as periodic table, s-block, p-block, d-block, f-block, hydrogen and coordination compounds.

In the JEE Main Chemistry section, 25 Questions, including 20 MCQs and 5 Numerically Asked Type Questions, with +4 marks given to each correct answer and -1 for each incorrect answer, which will contribute to a total of 100 marks in the JEE Main Exam.

In JEE Main 2026, the NAT Questions will also have a negative marking of -1 mark each.

JEE Main Chemistry 2026: Difficulty Level Analysis

In JEE Main, chemistry is considered the easiest subject among all three subjects. The Questions are NCERT-based, including conceptual understanding and numerical knowledge.

The Difficulty level differs according to the different exam shifts.

As per the previous year's analysis, around 60-70% questions are easy to moderate, which makes this section the highest scoring.

You can have a college of this standard, but the best NITs and core branches such as CSE or ECE might not be available in the open category.
