IIT Roorkee M.Tech 2025 Admission Eligibility
The eligibility requirements for admission to M.Tech at IIT Roorkee are as follows:
GATE Qualified Candidates: Candidates from the General, Gen-EWS, and OBC-NCL categories must secure at least 60% marks or a CGPA of 6.00 on a 10-point scale at the qualifying degree level, while SC/ST/PwD category candidates need 55% marks or a 5.50 CGPA. Admission is based on valid normalized GATE marks in the respective disciplines, calculated by IIT Roorkee as the ratio of marks out of 100 to the maximum marks awarded in that paper, multiplied by 100.
IIT Graduates: Direct admission without GATE is offered to IIT graduates with a minimum CGPA of 8.00 on a 10-point scale, with intake being supernumerary.
Golden Girl Scheme for Female Applicants: Direct admission is available for female candidates who are first rank holders (Gold Medalists) in their qualifying degree from an IIT and/or Institute/University within the Top 50 (overall category) in the NIRF in the most recent year. The requirement of qualifying an All India Level Exam is exempted, though other MEQs apply, and intake is supernumerary. Appearing candidates are not considered, and the first rank holder certificate must pertain to the qualifying degree (bachelor's/master's) as filled in the application form, subject to MEQ fulfillment.
Additional Notes: Final year students completing all requirements, including backpapers/supplementary exams before registration, may apply provisionally but must produce proof of passing with the required marks/CGPA within a stipulated period, or their admission will be canceled. Candidates appearing in any part of the qualifying exam after registration are not considered for 2025-26 admission. Candidates with AMIE/AMIS/AMIChE/AMIM/Grad IETE, a B.Sc. or Diploma in engineering, and at least three years of research, teaching, or professional experience in a relevant field by the application deadline are also eligible for M.Tech courses.

5. Pay Fee Online: Use the "Proceed for Payment" option to pay the non-refundable application fee:

IIT Roorkee M.Tech. Admission through GATE 2024: Application Process
Candidates may seek admission to more than one department, however, they should submit only 1 application form. After the application process is over, the online applications will be scrutinized and the relevant documents will be verified for authenticity. Candidates need to apply online by following the steps mentioned-below:
- Online Registration: Candidates need to visit the official website of IIT Roorkee and apply for the online application process. Once the registration process is complete, a user ID and password will be generated and sent to the applicant on the registered email id.
- Fill Application Form: Candidates need to login again using the ID and password generated in the above step to fill the application form for academic, personal, and experience details.
- Upload Documents: Candidates have to upload documents in the right format and size to ensure that their application form is submitted successfully. Refer to the table below for the details of file size and dimensions of the documents to be uploaded.
- Payment of Registration Fee: After uploading the above-mentioned documents, candidates need to pay the registration fee, i.e., INR 300 (INR 150 for PwD/SC/ST Category). There is no application fee for foreign nationals.
- Confirmation of Application: On successful submission of form and fee, candidates will receive a confirmation on their email id. Candidate can take the printout of the completely filled application form, displayed in PDF format.

IIT Roorkee M.Tech. Admission through GATE 2024: Selection Process
- Students will be shortlisted for M.Tech admission at IIT Roorkee based on the Merit list prepared by the authorities on the basis of GATE scores post the conclusion of the application process. Admissions will be made on the basis of either Normalized GATE Marks only or Normalized GATE Marks and Interview/Written Test.
- For sponsored candidates, admission will be made on the basis of an Interview/Written Test and relevant experience.
- Once qualified, the candidates will have to attend counselling at the Institute for document verification and admission fee submission. The admission will stand provisional until all the required documents are submitted and accepted without any discrepancy.
- The final selection will be based on GATE cutoff. If you have not applied for the counseling process at the COAP portal then you will not be able to receive an admission offer from IITs.
