IIT Kharagpur M.Tech Admission through GATE 2024: Application Process
Here are the steps to be followed by the candidates for application to IIT Kharagpur M.Tech Admission 2023:
- Online Registration: Candidates need to visit the JMP portal of IIT Kharagpur at gateoffice.iitkgp.ac.in/jmp/ and click on the ‘online application’ link. To get user ID and password, candidates need to fill in the basic information like GATE registration number, GATE COAP registration number (if available), date of birth, email ID, year of passing GATE exam, category, and other details.
- Fill Application Form: Enter necessary academic and personal details including the choice of specialization. Check the information before clicking on the proceed tab.
- Upload all the necessary documents: Candidates need to upload a few documents like caste & category certificates, bachelor’s degree certificate/ marksheet, class 12 marksheet, photograph, and signature.
- Pay the fees: Candidates must pay the application fee as per their category. The details of the fee are mentioned in the table given below.
- Print and Save Application: On successful submission of the online form and fee, candidates must take a printout of the completely filled application form, displayed in PDF format

IIT Kharagpur M.Tech Admission Process
IIT Kharagpur M.Tech Admission through GATE 2024: Selection Process
Admission to M.Tech programs at IIT Kharagpur will be direct, i.e., on the basis of GATE scores, for maximum courses.
- However, the institute also conducts an interview in addtion to GATE scores for admission to some M.Tech programs. In such cases, the ratio of the weightage assigned to GATE scores and Interview is 70:30.
- Candidate who do not appear for the Interview will not be considered for seat allocation. Only those candidates who had successfully registered at the official website of COAP will be able to receive the admission offers.
- After receiving the offers you have to accept or freeze your seat by visiting the official website of the institute.
- After seat allocation, candidates will be required to report at the institute for document verification and admission fee payment for the first semester.
IIT Kharagpur M.Tech Admission Withdrawal
IIT Kharagpur M.Tech Admission through GATE 2024: Withdrawal of Admission
IIT Kharagpur also allows candidates to withdraw their admission within the set deadline. Based on past trends, the deadline for withdrawal of IIT Kharagpur M.Tech admission offer will be Last week of June 2024 (tentative).
- If candidates wish to withdraw from the admission process after the deadline, INR 29000 will be refunded to them after deducting INR 1000.
- Refund process may take about 45 days. However, if a candidate withdraws the offer on or after this deadline, the candidate will have to forfeit the entire Pre-Registration Fee of INR 30,000/- and no refund will be made.

- Students receive an assistantship of INR 31,000 per month after enrolment in Ph.D. programs post the completion of the M.Tech./MCP program.
- Students who complete the Registration Seminar in the Ph.D. program also receive an additional benefit of INR 4,000 per month for a year.
- However, it must be noted that the student admitted to a PG program with an assistantship will not be eligible for admission with an assistantship to any other program offered at this institute or any other Institution on the basis of the same GATE scorecard.
