GATE Exam recently introduced Data Science and AI as one of the test papers in 2024. There was an increase of 23% in GATE registrations as compared to last year with over 8.26 lakh applications. Among these, 6,53,292 candidates appeared for the exam. The total number of candidates who qualified in all GATE exam papers was 1,29,268. This was a steady jump of over 29,000 candidates from last year. This increase could be partly due to the inclusion of GATE Data Science and AI (DA) as a subject paper, and the flexibility to choose two-paper combinations.

GATE has been continuously adding new topics to improve the standard of education in India and worldwide. In 2024, they introduced GATE Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. In 2023, the new entrants were Geomatics Engineering (GE) and Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering (NM). The focus in 2022 was on Environmental Science & Engineering (ES) and Humanities & Social Sciences (XH).

“Newly introduced DA paper attracted more than 50,000 applications, of which around 39,000 appeared and around 8,000 qualified in various categories,” says Chandra Sekhar Seelamantula, Organising Chair, GATE-2024, and Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, while talking to Education Times.

Implications of AI in GATE

In this era of technology, Artificial Intelligence (AI) stands as the pillar of innovation. As we look into the future, it’s essential to notice the emerging trends in AI shaping the trajectory of our world. After a decade, we might not even recognize our current lifestyles. The jump to an AI-relied world is just around the corner. Hence, introducing AI to GATE was one of the best decisions for aspiring engineers in the related field. You must prepare for GATE papers before attempting the test.

Enhanced Learning and Assessment Techniques

GATE Data Science and AI have been introduced which will help engineers to study the emerging topic. AI can help you prepare for the GATE Exam 2025:

  • Adaptive Learning Platforms: These AI learning systems, equipped with AI algorithms, adapt the difficulty and content of the learning materials to each student dynamically in a real-time way if their performance gives a signal to do that. The Weekday program embraces the learners who need assistance to understand, and it also advances those who excel by teaching them complex concepts.
  • Intelligent Tutoring Systems: A virtual AI tutor may also function as a mentor; one that provides one-on-one guidance and answers the queries of learners, differently than a regular tutor would.

Personalized Learning Experiences

The integration of AI enables adaptive learning technologies that tailor educational content to individual students. By analyzing performance metrics, AI systems can recommend:

  • Personalized study plans
  • Identify weak areas
  • Provide suggestions and improvement
  • Record and track analysis of improvement
  • Improved retention rates and better exam performance
  • Customized education solutions.

Teachers often struggle to pinpoint exactly where each student is falling behind. AI in GATE education can analyze your performance data from quizzes, assignments, and online activities to identify knowledge gaps quickly and efficiently.

  • Early Intervention: Through this early cognitive focus, you can come up with a known support system and help improve before you fall way behind other students.
  • Personalized Recommendations: AI will be capable of selecting a certain material, test, or additional lessons as well, which will be aimed at the problems with each student’s learning in particular.
