The provisional JEE Main 2026 Session 2 answer key has been released by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on 11th April,2026.
NTA has opened a challenge window until 13th April, 2026: 11:59 PM. During this period, candidates can raise objections by paying 200 INR per question. After reviewing all the challenges, NTA will publish the final answer key along with the dropped questions list.
As of now, the JEE Main 2026 Session 2 dropped questions list has not been released, but many errors have been found in the JEE Main 2026 Session 2 answer key across Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
Once the final answer key is out:
- Any dropped question will be marked as “Dropped” instead of an option ID
- Candidates will be awarded +4 marks for each dropped question
- Marks will be given even if the question was not attempted (for that shift)
For reference,
- in JEE Main 2026 Session 1, two Physics questions were dropped across different shifts.
- In JEE Main 2025, a total of 14 questions were dropped - 12 in Session 1 and 2 in Session 2.

Dropped Questions in JEE Main Answer Key 2026 Session 1
As per the official NTA update about the JEE Main Answer Key, two questions have been dropped from the two different shifts of the January 2026 Session. Both questions were from the Physics section:

To check the JEE Main 2026 dropped questions list, you can follow the steps listed below.
- Visit the official website of JEE Main 2026 at jeemain.nta.nic.in.
- Log in using your application number and DOB/password
- Download the JEE Main final answer key 2026.
- Against the question ID of each dropped question, “Drop” or “Dropped” must be mentioned instead of its “Option ID”.

Candidate Discussions on JEE Main 2026 Dropped Questions (Reddit – Not Official)
The following information is based on student discussion on Reddit regarding the JEE Main 2026 dropped questions list. But this information is posted by the students, and there is no official confirmation by NTA.
Several candidates have raised concerns regarding dropped questions on Reddit forums:
One user shared that the response sheet showed 0 questions answered. To which one user replied that this might be some technical issue, and at the time of the result, he will get the percentile. JEE Main 2025 Dropped Questions List Session 1
Last year, a total of 12 questions were dropped in the Session 1 JEE Main examination for BE/BTech. An equal number of questions were dropped from JEE Main 2025 in exam centres in India and international exam centres.
- 8 questions were dropped from Physics in JEE Main session 1 last year, with 4 each in exam centres in India and outside India.
- Mathematics and Chemistry each recorded 2 dropped questions in JEE Main 2025.

In Session 2 of JEE Main last year, only 2 questions were dropped. Both questions dropped were from Physics.

Ques. What happens when a question is dropped in JEE Main?
Ans. When a question is dropped in the JEE Main examination, you will get full marks (+4) regardless of whether you attempt the question or not. However, you must have appeared for the same shift from which the question is dropped.
Ques. How do JEE Main 2026 Dropped Questions Affect JEE Main Scores?
Ans. If any of the questions in your JEE Main 2026 shift are dropped, you will get extra marks, which in turn will boost your overall score.
- For each dropped question in your shift, you will get +4 marks extra.
- Last year, students got 4-8 marks added to their overall JEE Main raw score.
- The addition of extra marks to your JEE Main scores will boost your JEE Main percentile scores.
Ques. What if more than 1 option is correct for a question in JEE Main?
Ans. If for any question, more than 1 option is found to be correct, +4 marks will be given. Marks will be awarded only to those candidates who mark any of the correct options for that particular question. If you did not attempt the question, you will not get awarded marks for that particular question.
Ques. What if all options are correct for a question in JEE Main?
Ans. In case all options are correct for a question in JEE Main, you will get +4 marks if you attempt the question. Those who did not attempt the question will get no marks awarded for that particular question.
