The college has opportunities of scholarships for students have family income less than 10 lakhs and the college is great helper in these cases
Computer engineering students enjoy excellent placement opportunities, whereas for other branch students, there are fewer companies specifically in the core biotechnology sector.
The campus infrastructure is one of the best thing, it's pretty, filled with beautiful buildings, comfortable classes fully air conditioned, greenery all around sports complex running lanes, during winters and autumn the weather is so pleasant here.

Dislikes

I understand that there is a placement cell available here, but recently, the placements have not been very good.
Some teachers are not good at teaching and problem here to to find a rrsouce to study the topic
Fees is very high here which is the worst part here .

Its all really nice

Likes

The hostel room is very nice and that can be cleaned by cleaners if you want
The mess is also pretty good and comes with a variety
The boys to girl ratio is approximately 20:14

Dislikes

There is the 75 percent attendance criteria which is hard to follow
Most of the girls are allready in a relarionship

The courses and the ciriculum are really helpful including courses such as proffesional comunication and manufacturing processing so it can help us a lot and then there are subjects like maths i dont really get why is it still teaching i just hate it

My life at Thapar: Journey of learning and Fun

Infrastructure, modular classrooms, opportunities in terms of sports athletics, different societies for different hobby and purposes.
Overall a good opportunities for extra curricular sector.

Dislikes

Mass admission, seats are increasing every year on large scale.

Placement Experience:

From the 5th semester onwards companies come for summer internships for 6th semester summer break, and if you succeed in getting an internship you can easily get a PPO after completing the internship. Companies for placements start coming from the 7th semester onwards, Majorly big companies come for placements for eg, Apple comes for internship and PPO, Big 4 companies, Samsung Swiggy, Zomato, Ola, L&T, Texas Instruments, Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki etc. As students have increased in the courses in the past few years placements are declining because companies come for 5-10 only and the large pool of students apply and get rejected.

Thapar University: A gateway to exposure and vibrant campus life

Likes

Peers make the campus good, it is the only private college where placements are equal to NITS.
Campus is so beautiful giving positive vibes.
Infrastructure like computer labs, library, lecture halls are world-class.

Dislikes

Hostel food is not good. But there are hostel canteens that make up for it.
Fees is too much and increases 10% every year.

Placement Experience:

Placements for circuital branch is very good. Around 90-95 percent students get placed in these branches, most companies visit during 7th semester. Companies like JP Morgan, Deloitte, DE shaw, Arcesium visit campus every year. For core companies like L&T, Maruti visit regularly.

infrastructure is really good. auto rickshaws inside campus make travel throughout the campus easy .
accessibility to railway station and bus stand is moderate, i.e its unsafe to travel before sunrise and after 8 30pm at night

Dislikes

couples start cuddling anywhere, middle of the road, at the pondside, in any park across campus.

i dont have much idea about this as of now, but have seen many seniors booking a GD room for themselves in the library where the appeared for online interviews and company tests. also, have heard many seniors being placed in amazon,JSW, accenture, google, like companies with an average package of 12 - 15 LPA.

Thapar University COE Pros and Cons

Likes

The campus is very beautiful and all the labs are well equipped with all the latest tech.
The hostel life is also amazing and the hostels are well maintained.
The teachers were very supportive and helped us to grow and aim more in life

Dislikes

The fees is a bit high for the overall degree.
There is an in time for the campus as well as the hostels.
The mess food was not that good for the price we used to pay for the mess fee, it could have been better.

Placement Experience:

Campus Placements in the current year are not that great because the overall market is in a slowdown but yes two years back the college had a very good placement and till now I have been able to get an intern and I hope that I would be able to get my placement in the coming months.

Abundance of innovative opportunities .Access to various technical and cultural clubs, hackathons and research opportunities.
Excellent Peer Group .Being surrounded by motivated and talented peers enhanced my personality .
Industry Connection. Thapar 's collaborations with global universities and companies enhance placement opportunities and international exposure.

Placement Experience:

It gives excellent placement offers with around 270 companies visits. The highest package for 2025 passng batch is 54LPA with a average package of 10 to 12 LPA. Top companies like google , apple ,microsoft,amzon ,Barclays ,deloitte and many more offers in thapar.

Insight onto Thapar University

Likes

The facilities are amazing across the college.
Thapar has one of the best libraries of India which is quite an achievement
A healthy boy girl ratio (around 1:3) which is amazing for an engineering Institute

Dislikes

Not much to complain about, but can say some gym equipments are outdated
Mostly rely on youtube for studies though PPT are shared
Too many couples in the college can make it frustrating

Placement Experience:

The average placement through college is 14 LPA which is decent for such a large crowd. From the 7th semester students are eligible for placements. Many renowned companies visit us for offers. Last year the highest package was 1.15 cr. I am trying to explore my options as of now but mostly will be persuing MBA.

Infrastructure which is too good including hostels,labs everything is very fine and made with facilities
Academic curriculum is also good and very well managed by the professors

Likes

Strong academic reputation known for its focus on engineering and betterment of students
Infrasture of libraries, hostels, labs and even cafeterias
Placement opportunities companies like amazon,microsoft, apple visits

Dislikes

High fees the hostel fees and academic fees is very much high
Academic pressure competition is intense in engineering field
Weather is not so good here from hot summers to cold chilly winters

Thapar University has a brand name, however, the ground reality for this university is not very pleasant and it is swiftly losing the qualities that defined it in its glorious past. The rankings of students enrolled in the university are going down each year. The administration is taking serious measures against the same, however, because of these measures the other students are suffering. One example is the strict entry and exit timings.

Academically, your experience in this institution will differ according to your branch. The CSE branch has a cooperative faculty and lenient attendance criteria. This is not the case for other branches. In other branches, some faculty members may hold personal grudges against you while some may fail you for missing the required attendance mark (75%) by as small as 0.1%. The mess is below average and the classrooms are not very impressive. The administration is very slow.

However, there are positive points about Thapar University as well. The alumni from Thapar are placed in some of the best companies in India and abroad. It has some of the best synthetic courts in any engineering college in India. There are many teachers at Thapar University who serve as a source of inspiration to their students. Sports facilities for all the major sports are great. Placements at Thapar University are great and the labs are well updated. Even though Thapar is facing a drug problem, its teachers and administration are very active in trying to solve this issue.

Thus, even though Thapar University has outlived its glorious days, it has some positive points too. It is completely your choice whether or not you wish to take admission into it.

Thapar University has better placements than most private colleges and NITs. But the problem is, placements here directly depend on the grades of the students, and only the serious ones who work hard to build their profile bag the best packages.

Now the reviews of students are mixed because not everyone invests the same efforts and bags high packages. The people giving bad reviews are the ones who did not build their resumes well.

The best thing about Thapar University is the level of freedom you get to experience here. However, the increasing intake is slowly deteriorating the student quality so you might want to consider this before joining.
