Course Curriculum Overview

5

I have opted for computer science and business system course. I enjoy coding and learning about tech, and aspire to run a business which pretty much explains my choice towards this branch. Another reason was i went through the curriculum and found out most of the subjects are new and will help me moving further. All the subjects are related to your coding and personality development. We get decent time to finish all assignments and then exam timetable is not hectic at all. Also ppt, slides, notes are provided by teachers on the portal.

Internships Opportunities

4

I wouldnt know much about this but you can buy courses to help you develop your skills and help you with internships. Always focus on growing yourself to make it easier for you to get internships. Also you can join various societies to learn and grow in different fields and these can also attract companies and provide you opportunities.

Placement Experience

4

The average placement through college is 14 LPA which is decent for such a large crowd. From the 7th semester students are eligible for placements. Many renowned companies visit us for offers. Last year the highest package was 1.15 cr. I am trying to explore my options as of now but mostly will be persuing MBA.

Fees and Financial Aid

You should consider an overall budget of around 30-35 Lacs if you are enrolling into Thapar university (without scholarship) Though the Institute has some good schemes providing scholarship for all year students. The first year students are awarded scholarship based on their boards percentage and then sorting them on basis of JEE ranks. First year onwards a CGPA of 9.2+ should assure you a scholarship.

Campus Life

5

There are three fests throughout an annual year. Firstly the cultural fest where a famous artist performs and many events take place over 3-4 days. Then there is sports fest where many college such as IIT Mandi NIT Kurukshetra also participate in various sports. Then there is tech fest promoting workshops etc. Thapar has the vest library in India it offers a huge variety. Books can be issued easily as well. The Institute has a football field cricket ground athletic track basketball courts badminton tennis courts swimming pool. There is a huge exposure provided to the students.

Hostel Facilities

4

I live in the FRG hostel which is basically a flat with attached washroom and huge hall. So it is really comfortable living here. On odd days the mess food is nice but it is always edible. Paneer is made twice a week, rajma chawal chole bhature kaala chana pasta fried rice all these once a week. It will cost you around 40-50k per semester for hostel.

Admission

I had applied to MIT WPU, BITS . Thapar is way more superior to MIT WPU on basis of placement campus crowd so it was an obvious choice of chosing Thapar. I didnt get enough marks in BITS to get a desirable branch and hence the second best option is Thapar, the best private Institute after BITS in India. Admission to Thapar university is either through JEE mains or Boards percentage. You can get the computer science branch at 96%ile in JEE. For lower branches such as mechatronics, mechanical its quite easy to get in by the spot round.

Faculty

4

Most of the faculty is really nice and helpful if you approach them. Around 1:10 ratio of faculty to student. I m in first year so wont be able to tell which faculty is best but till nos my experience has been good. The exam is easy to clear even if you study sincerely one day before the exam you will do well. But some indiscipline students fail to clear the exam due to irregularity and lenient behavior. The Computer scisnce and business system course is relatively new and has no outdated subjects which is one of the major reasons of me opting for this branch and i am enjoying the course so far

Night Life

4

Every hostel has their own gym. The timings vary from hostel to hostel. The library stays open till 8:30 pm. You must be in the campus by 8pm and your hostel by 8:30 pm. Though you can get night permission if you are part of events and stuff. College consists various spots for eating such as cos, g block, cafeteria etc. Just outside the college you can find a line of street food such as maggie momos eggs etc.

Placement Experience:

As a BE Computer Science student at Chandigarh University, placements are decent but depend a lot on individual skills. Students become eligible for campus placements from the 6th semester, and most of the placement process happens in the 7th and 8th semesters. Many companies visit the campus every year like Microsoft, Amazon, Cognizant, Capgemini, TCS, Infosys, Wipro and some startups as well. There are a good number of offers made, especially from mass recruiters like TCS, Infosys and Cognizant. The highest package claimed by the university goes very high, even above 40 LPA, but those are for a very small number of students. Realistically, the average package for CSE students is around 5 to 7 LPA. Mass recruiters usually offer packages between 3 to 5 LPA. Around 70 to 80 percent of students get placed if they are consistent with coding and preparation. Those who depend only on college studies may find it harder due to high competition. The university also provides training for aptitude, coding tests and interviews which helps in preparation. After completing my degree, my plan is to get placed in a good product based company. At the same time, I am also focusing on improving my coding skills and working on projects so that I can aim for better opportunities or even higher studies if needed.

I exactly don't know but after 4 th or 5 th students are eligible for internship and placements. Generally in 7th semester 90 percent students grab their internship. Many companies visit on campus placement like Capgemini, Amazon, Infosys, TCS, Microsoft and many more. Highest package offered is 64 LPA by Microsoft and lowest was 4 LPA. Almost 90 percent students get placed by 8th semister. I also want to go to a MAANG company after getting my degree.

Course Curriculum Overview:

1) I want to go in construction industry so i chose this field. 2) Currently our college curriculum is updated so its relevant i will say around 70 to 80% . 3) For improvement Faculties should be brought from all over india as professors here are only concentrated from ludhiana itself. and labs are very old it should be upgraded. 5) In a semester there are 2 monthly exams and one end semester exam. 6) As far as difficuly level of exam is concerned it is not much difficult if someone solved PYQ thoroughly.
