Merit Scholarships I, II, and III: Students can qualify based on their All India Rank in JEE Main and past academic performance. Awards range from full tuition fee waivers to 50% discounts for eligible students with high ranks or marks in Class 12. These scholarships are for students from families with a gross income below INR 10 lakhs per annum. The value typically includes a full tuition waiver, subject to maintaining a CGPA of 7.5 or higher. Management Quota: Generally, students under this category have higher tuition fees,approximately 1.5 times the regular fees.NRI/Foreign National Students: The annual fee for NRI students is around USD 10,000, which includes tuition and development fees. Overall, Thapar Institute provides a comprehensive scholarship structure to support students financially based on merit and need.

Course Relevance and Exam Cycle

The course has majorly everything that can make a student industry ready.The semester exams are quite manageable if prepare on regular basis. The exams are conducted two times in semester approximately at a gap of 2 to 3 months.

Facilities and Clubs in Campus

The infrastructure is very good and very modern.The building are very well built with facilities such as numerous labs with computers with required specifications as per the course, excellent Wi-Fi,aur conditioned classrooms and a world class library. The hostels are also very modern with air conditioning and private catering along with a dispensary for medical purposes. Sport facilities are also good with there being a football field,track, cricket pitches,lawn tennis, badminton and many more. Many fests are being conducted, biggest being the fest named Saturnalia that takes place in November.There are many societies, MLSC, GDSC, ACM, MUDRA and many more.

Hostel Facilities and Its Affordability

The hostels are also very modern with air conditioning and private catering along with a dispensary for medical purposes. The meals quality are good and nutrition intake of students are kept in mind whilst deciding the menu. The hostels are quite affordable keeping in mind all the facilities provided along with food and laundry.

Night Life

The last entry time is 8:30 pm for all students in campus. Hostels have gyms with good equipments . The campus is quite big with many hangout spots namely Jaggi, Cos , kravings, g blocks cafeteria, aahar, Tslas and many more . The hostels are also very modern with air conditioning and private catering along with a dispensary for medical purposes.The infrastructure is very good and very modern.The building are very well built with facilities such as numerous labs with computers with required specifications as per the course, excellent Wi-Fi,aur conditioned classrooms and a world class library. Students View on Teaching Style of Faculties

The faculty in Thapar University is highly qualified many of them being IITians. The faculty is very helpful and knowledgeable. Teaching quality may differ from teacher to teacher but the have a vast knowledge about the course they teach. The course has majorly everything that can make a student industry ready.The semester exams are quite manageable if prepare on regular basis.

Admission

Bits Pilani was the other college that I applied for but in there entrance exam I didn't score enough to get a branch of my liking. I chose Thapar because of its infrastructure, placements, faculty and it's strong alumini network . Admissions in Thapar is based on the marks scored in 12 th class boards examination and the rank obtained in JEE examination. No further tests are conducted by the college.

Thapar University Scholarship 2025

Scholarship provided by the college.

Thapar University offers various merit and need-based scholarships to UG and PG students enrolled in all the programs offered by the university. Thapar University Scholarships are awarded either in the form of tuition fee waivers or direct money deposits. The various scholarships offered by Thapar University are listed below:

Thapar University Merit Scholarships will be provided to only those students who have cleared all the courses prescribed for the respective program in the year of consideration. Given below is brief information about Thapar University Scholarships for various courses.

Thapar University Merit Scholarships – BE/B.Tech Students

Merit Scholarships to the first-year UG students will be awarded on the basis of All India Rank

(AIR) in JEE Mains 2025 for the year 2025-26 with the criteria mentioned against each scholarship:

Merit Scholarships-II Aggregate Marks* > 90% at 10+2 level. Next 60 students irrespective of branch on the basis of AIR of JEE Main -2025. 60 TF waive off
Merit Scholarships-III Aggregate Marks* > 85% at 10+2 level. First 10% of admitted students (other than over and above intake) in each discipline on the basis of AIR of JEE Main 2025. In the case of BTech (Biotechnology) and BTech (Biomedical Engg.), students admitted on the basis of JEE Score/PCM shall only be considered while deciding the total admitted students in these branches. Any fraction will be converted to the next whole number e.g. if 10% of admitted students come to 11.2 then 12 scholarships will be given. 339 (approx.) TF/2 waive off AGPA ≥ 8.00 and should not have any backlog in the year of consideration and must have passed all the courses offered in the semester(s) prior to the year of consideration. The student should be in merit of his/her stream on the basis of AGPA in the preceding year. First 10% of on-roll students (other than over and above intake) in each discipline. The Merit Scholarship-III will be awarded on the basis of their AGPA score in the year of consideration irrespective of marks obtained in 10+2.
Merit Scholarship IV (A) Aggregate Marks* > 95% at 10+2 level. Top student irrespective of branch (Biotechnology or Biomedical Engg.) on the basis of Institute rank assigned by TIET on the basis of PCB marks at 10+2. 01 TF + DF waive off Same as that of Merit Scholarship-I and II
Merit Scholarships IV (B) Aggregate Marks* > 90% at 10+2 level. The next 01 student is irrespective of the branch (Biotechnology or Biomedical Engg.) on the basis of Institute rank assigned by TIET on the basis of PCB marks at 10+2. 01 TF waive off Same as that of Merit Scholarship-I and II
Merit ScholarshipsIV ( C ) First 10 % of admitted students (other than over and above intake) in BTech (Biotechnology) and BTech (Biomedical Engg) on the basis of Institute rank assigned by TIET on the basis of PCB marks at 10+2. The students must also have aggregate marks* > 85% at the 10+2 level. Only the students admitted on the basis of PCB shall be taken into account for deciding the number of available scholarships. Any fraction will be converted to the next whole number e.g. if 10% of admitted students come to 11.2 then 12 scholarships will be given. 03 (approx.) TF/2 Same as Merit Scholarships III
Merit Scholarships -VI (A) (For Lateral entry students admitted in 2nd year of BE/BTech) Aggregate Marks > 75% at Diploma level. All eligible students 50% of TF Minimum 8.50 CGPA in all the preceding semester(s) and should not have any backlog in the year of consideration and must have passed all the courses offered in the semester(s) prior to the year of consideration.
Merit Scholarships -VI (B) (For Lateral entry students admitted in 2nd year of BE/BTech) Aggregate Marks > 70% but less than 75% at Diploma level. All eligible students 30% of TF Minimum 8.50 CGPA in all the preceding semester(s) and should not have any backlog in the year of consideration and must have passed all the courses offered in the semester(s) prior to the year of consideration.
Merit Scholarships-VI (C) (For Lateral entry Students admitted in 2nd year of BE/BTech) Aggregate Marks > 60% but less than 70% at Diploma level. All eligible students 25% of TF Minimum 8.50 CGPA in all the preceding semester(s) and should not have any backlog in the year of consideration and must have passed all the courses offered in the semester(s) prior to the year of consideration.

Important Note: In order to calculate the aggregate marks at 10+2 Level for Scholarship, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English (Mandatory) are the four subjects that will be considered. Chemistry can be replaced by Biology, Biotechnology, or any other Technical Vocational subject, that was considered at the time of admission. For scholarship in Bio-medical and Biotechnology, Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Mathematics, and English (Mandatory) will be considered.

Thapar University Merit-Cum-Means Scholarships For BE/B.Tech Students :

Merit-Cum-Means Scholarship- Special Gross family income ≤INR 10.00 lac Deserving cases not covered in “Merit-Cum Means Scholarships _ normal” (In case of a tie in family income, Girl students coming from families having no male child will be given preference) Note: Scholarship cases will be finalized by a Committee consisting of Deans and Registrar. 5 (maximum) TF + DF waive off

Deserving cases of UG students not covered in “Merit-Cum-Means Scholarships _ normal” will be considered.

Gross family income ≤ INR10.00 Lac CGPA ≥ 7.50, No backlog at the time of applying for the scholarship.
Merit-Cum-Means Scholarship- Lateral Entry Gross family income ≤INR10.00 lac. Aggregate Marks > 70% at Diploma level. Given on the basis of ascending order of income. Notes for Mert-Cum-Means Scholarship- Lateral Entry Scholarship:

  • LEET Students admitted in the 2nd Year through lateral entry will be eligible to apply for the TIET MERIT-cum-Means Scholarship on the basis of criteria mentioned at Sr. No. 3 i.e.Mert-Cum-Means Scholarship- Lateral Entry.
  • Only 2 (maximum) LEET students will be selected under this category.
  • LEET students will not be considered normal students of 2nd year who are applying for TIET MCM Normal & Special.
  • From 3rd year onwards, these students can apply MCM with other normal students with the criteria of CGPA ≥ 7.50.

Thapar University SCHOLARSHIP – ME/M.Tech. Students

The candidates admitted in M.E./M.Tech. will be eligible for the scholarship as per the following:

Scholarship from AICTE

  • Candidates with valid GATE scores will be considered to receive scholarships only if approved and the amount released by AICTE or any other funding agency (applicable only for intake approved by AICTE)

.

Scholarship from TIET

  1. Candidates with valid GATE scores and who are getting scholarships from AICTE or from any other funding agency as mentioned at S.No. (I) above, shall also be eligible for an additional scholarship of Rs. 5000/- per month from TIET.
  2. Candidates with valid GATE scores and who are not getting scholarships from AICTE or from any other funding agency as mentioned at S.No. (I) above, shall be offered a scholarship of Rs. 12,400/- per month by TIET.
  3. ME/MTech Candidates who are not GATE qualified shall be offered Rs. 10,000/- per month for 10 months in an academic year.
  4. A minimum of 70% (65% for SC/ST) of marks in a qualifying degree will be required to avail of these scholarships. For continuation of Scholarship in the second year, a minimum 8.00 CGPA at the end of the first year will be required with no backlog.

Thapar University Scholarship- MSc Students

The candidates admitted in MSc. will be eligible for the scholarship as per the following:

Merit ScholarshipsMSc. (A) Aggregate Marks > 75% at qualifying exam (Graduation Level) All eligible students 50% of TF Minimum 8.50 CGPA in all the preceding semester(s) and should not have any backlog in the year of consideration and must have passed all the courses offered in the semester(s) prior to the year of consideration.
Merit ScholarshipsMSc. (B) Aggregate Marks > 65% But < 75% at qualifying exam (Graduation Level) All eligible students 30% of TF Minimum 8.50 CGPA in all the preceding semester(s) and should not have any backlog in the year of consideration and must have passed all the courses offered in the semester(s) prior to the year of consideration.

Note: Merit scholarships will be awarded only if the number of students registered in a discipline is at least five.

Thapar University Scholarship- MA Students

The candidates admitted to MA will be eligible for the scholarship as per the following:

Thapar University Scholarship- MCA Students

10% of the admitted strength of the MCA course at Thapar University are given scholarships based on their performance in academics. The scholarship amount for the Thapar University MCA is awarded in the second semester based on performance in the first semester. The scholarship amount for the second year will be awarded on the basis of the student’s performance in the first year.

  • Eligibility: The eligible students should not have an AGPA less than 8.00 and should not have any backlog in the year of consideration and must have passed all the courses offered in the semester(s) prior to the year of consideration.
  • Value of Scholarship: INR 40,000 Per Annum

Thapar University Scholarship- MBA Students

Thapar University also offers scholarships to deserving MBA students. LMTSM offers 75 merit scholarships to MBA students who have valid institute-based test scores or NMAT by GMAC score. Scholarship to Thapar University MBA students is provided on the basis of ranking in the admission evaluation process. The table below gives details about the number of scholarships available for different categories of students:

Thapar University Scholarship Eligibility

  1. Only those students will be eligible for the award of Institute merit scholarships who have cleared all the courses prescribed for the respective programme in the year of consideration.
  2. Merit Scholarships-I, Merit Scholarships-II, Merit Scholarships-IV(A), Merit Scholarships-IV(B) of B.E./B.Tech. shall be awarded to the students as per the prescribed criteria in the above table.
  3. Merit Scholarships-III, Merit Scholarships-IV(C) covering 10% of the students’ strength (other than over and above intake) of B.E./B.Tech. shall be awarded every year on the basis of AGPA earned in the preceding year and the criteria mentioned in the above table.
  4. In case a student is upgraded through the December Test in 1st year, he/she will not be eligible for a merit scholarship in 2nd year on the basis of his/her performance in 1st year.
  5. In case an FN/NRI student or IEP student is selected for merit scholarship-III in the second year or subsequent years, he/she will be given award amount as per the tuition fee charged from Indian students of the same batch.
  6. The student who has been awarded a merit scholarship by the Institute is entitled to receive a stipend or any financial assistance from any other source. However, if the student is awarded any stipend or financial assistance from any other source, he shall immediately communicate the same to the Dean of Academic Affairs (DoAA).
  7. There will be no income limit for the guardians/parents of the students for the grant of merit scholarships.
  8. In case a student is eligible for more than one scholarship/free ship, he/she shall be awarded only one scholarship/free ship as per his/her preference.
  9. Merit scholarships will be awarded only if the number of students registered in a discipline/program is at least five.
  10. IEP students whose parent branch is different than the IEP branch, will not be considered for the TIET Merit Scholarship. Only those cases will be considered for Merit scholarships whose parent branch and IEP branch are the same. In case a student returns to his normal course from the IEP course, he may be given the benefit of a scholarship, provided the student will submit an undertaking that if he again goes to the IEP Course, he will return the entire scholarship benefit to the institute. Also, the student will not claim scholarships from previous semesters when he/she was an IEP student.
  11. In case any normal student who has been awarded the scholarship in the 1st and 2nd year joins the IEP course later on, he/ she will have to return the entire scholarship amount back to the institute.

Thapar University Scholarship Selection

  1. The award of merit scholarships for B.E./ B.Tech., LEET, MCA and M.Sc. programs shall be announced every year by the DoAA.
  2. If the student declines (or is not awarded a merit scholarship for certain reasons) it shall be awarded to the next student on the approved list.
  3. The merit scholarships shall be tenable for one academic year.

Thapar University Tie Breaker for the continuation of Scholarship

In case of a tie at AGPA, it shall be broken by considering the number of A+ grades secured by the students during the period under consideration for the calculation of AGPA. If the number of A+ grades secured by students are the same then the tie shall be broken by considering the students’ performance on the basis of CGPA. If the CGPA is also the same, the tie shall be broken using the percentage of marks obtained by the students in all the courses of the last two semesters. If, however, the tie still exists then it will be broken by considering the merit of the entrance examination taken at entry level.

Thapar University Withdrawal of Scholarship

If a recipient of a merit scholarship is found guilty of gross misconduct his/her case after due warning shall be reported by the DoAA for withdrawal of merit scholarship and a decision in this regard will be taken by the Deputy Director.

Important Notes:

  1. For Government scholarships, students must check their eligibility criteria from the scholarship portal and have to make online registration on the Government Portal. Eligible students after registering on the portal have to submit the application form online on the portal. After applying for the scholarship on the portal, students have to submit a printout of the application form along with a copy of all documents to the Scholarship Section, DOSA office for checking and verification. The institute will forward the cases to the concerned agency after the verification of all documents as per agency guidelines. (depending upon the issuing agency.)
  2. For the Punjab Government Scholarship, students have to check the eligibility conditions and other guidelines of the scheme from the Punjab Government Scholarship Portal (Dr Ambedkar Scholarship Portal) and have to make online registration on the portal. At least one scholarship for a 3rd-year student out of scholarships at Vinod Luthra, Sudershan Bhateja, Vijay Goel and Shyam Lal Taneja Scholarship (3rd Year Mechanical), Vinod & Vinay Luthra Family Scholarship (3rd Year Civi)l, Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology‘Class of 1962 Scholarships” will be awarded to a female engineering student.
  4. No scholarship shall be offered to students admitted/upgraded in the December Test.
  5. Students nominated by the Government of India are also awarded Scholarships by their respective Governments.
  6. A sponsored Industrial House scholarship would also be available.
  7. In case of any change regarding the amount or eligibility for the Government scholarships mentioned in the above table, the latest circular shall be applicable.
  8. For availing of Government scholarships, an Aadhaar-enabled bank account or linking of an existing bank account with an Aadhaar number is required at the time of applying for a scholarship for direct transfer of scholarship amount to the beneficiary, as per the guidelines issued by the Government from time to time.
  9. All the eligible SC/ST, OBC, PwD students etc. should submit their scholarship forms along with all other relevant documents in the Scholarship Section in the DOSA office, after applying online at respective web portals for the academic year on or before the last date of submission of application form. The last date of the scholarships will be displayed on the respective web portal of the concerned scholarship schemes by the Govt. agencies. Students can apply for one scholarship only.
  10. As per the guidelines of the Government agencies, attendance through the Biometric system is mandatory for reserve category students who are eligible for scholarships from these agencies. The location of the Biometric system for taking attendance will be displayed on the notice boards of the Institute.

Admission:

The courses SIP and Social & Commercial Entrepreneurship were the two compulsory courses which were one of the deciding factors. Admission process - First you need to fill the online application form which you can fill from the LMTSM official website. After that you have to appear for the TMAT extrance exam followed by submitting the video resumes. The final round is the interview round.

Thapar University- A boon or a bane

Admission:

Wasn't getting a good branch in any government college based on my JEE score. This college accepts Boards percentage also (a very high cut ~96-97 percent for computer science) and provides everything you need as a student.

I applied to IGDTUW , VIT vellore and other colleges i got into both in VIT i got CS but it was too far away plus the placement percentage there is comparatively low and IGDTUW i didn't have mg prefered branch. The admission in Thapar is done on two basis JEE n boards the form opens on the website by which students can apply

My life at Thapar: Journey of learning and Fun

Admission:

I applied to different private colleges, but I had my reason for choosing it because Thapar was near to my city and was quite famous for its education and placement. The admission procedure was quite easy for my batch as it I was in the 2021 COVID batch, so were supposed to upload our JEE and Board documents on the Thapar application itself, when the results were out seat was automatically updated on its website, if you got the seat in the branch you wanted you can freeze it or pay the tuition fees and request for an update in the second round. If you get a seat in another better college you can easily apply for a refund.

 Thapar University was established in 1956. When it was a young institution, it ranked among the top 20 universities/colleges in India, and its students achieved great heights. Even today, many students from this University do immensely well and bring honor to it. 

This institution has a long-standing reputation and its alumni work in top MNCs as well as are part of the Indian Civil Services. Some of the top companies where its alumni are presently working include- Apple, Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Amazon, Adobe, Twitter, Cisco, Uber, VMWare etc.

Even though Thapar University is still a brand name, newly opened institutions like DAIICT, BITS Goa, BITS Hyd, etc. are outperforming it significantly. The university has seen a significant decline in its glorious days in the past. This is because since 2008, due to its owner’s financial constraints, the crowd quality has declined and things have become more money-driven. There are few hikes every year. Unlike before, there are around 1300-1500 students on campus in the present times.

Thus, Thapar University has fallen down from its days of glory and significant steps need to be taken to revive its lost glory.

NIT Patna has carried this ‘NIT’ tag since 2004. Here are some advantages of joining NITP-

  1. The crowd at NIT Patna, like any other NIT, is really good and consists of some of the best brains in the country.
  2. NIT Patna has a student exchange program with a Korean University.
  3. The environment over there is quite nurturing.
  4. It has a locational advantage over most other NITs. You can access the best CAT/GATE/IES coaching centers easily from there.
  5. The placements are improving each year. 
  6. Some companies that visit the campus for placements include- OracleFSS, Oracle Cloud Computing, MuSigma, Polaris, Verity Knowledge solutions, Vedanta(Alu), Verizon, Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki, Hero MotoCorp, Jindal Steels, L&T, Havels, SAP Labs, Snapdeal, Amazon, UnitedHealth Group, First American Pvt. Ltd. , BPCL, Housing.com, Samsung R&D, Zomato, Oxigen, Factset, Bharat Aluminium, Samsung, ABB, Siemens and Reliance.

But I would like to warn you that the campus life isn’t really great at NIT Patna. However, the new Bihta campus of NIT Patna is expected to come into existence soon. It will be spread across 125 acres of land.

I would say that NIT Patna is doing quite well and it shouldn’t be compared to other NITs or Thapar. If you have the will to build a bright future for yourself, this institute will definitely help you achieve your dream.

Thapar University is a good institution. I would like to talk about the three parameters on which one would assess a university and tell you how Thapar is performing in each-

  1. Placements- Placements are pretty good at Thapar University. If you are among the top performers, you will find yourself placed in a big company. Some of the big companies that visit the campus for placements are- Texas Instruments, Sandisk, Maruti Suzuki, Honda, etc. 
  2. Academics- Thapar is pretty decent academically. Since 2015 it has changed its curriculum. The new curriculum is project-based. In the first year, you will get to learn about Catapult Design and in the second year, you will get to do a Buggy project. This institution offers some unique projects to its students and if you are hungry for knowledge, Thapar University is the right institution. 
  3. Infrastructure- The infrastructure is good and the sports facilities are ample. There are four tennis courts, one football cum race track, one cricket ground, two basketball courts, one volleyball ground and one extra ground to play the sports of your choice. There are 6 boys hostels and 4 girls hostels. The classrooms are good. 

Overall, Thapar University is a good institution and it has all the facilities in terms of academics and infrastructure.

Do Thapar University students think they are inferior to IITians and NITians?

Honestly, Thapar University students do have an inferiority complex with IITians and NITians at least in terms of education. 

My brother is in Thapar University and has friends in top IITs. He says that their intellect and talents are incomparable to even the toppers in his batch. IITs accept the best students only so most of his friends got 300s rank in Advanced and 100s rank in Mains.

It’s not just their academic profiles, but these IITians are much more hardworking and determined than any of his batchmates in Thapar. My brother feels that students making it to the top IITs deserve the hype they get and are without any doubt superior to any Thapar student. 

So, yes Thapar students do feel they are inferior to IITians and NITians and their feelings are justified because they cannot match the level of IITians.

How good is it to apply for IEP (Trinity) from Thapar University?

If you wish to apply for IEP (Trinity) at Thapar University, here are a few things to keep in mind:

  1. The fee for this UG degree is extremely high. It is INR 50 Lakh+ in total at present, for Indian students.
  2. To study at Trinity College Dublin in the 3rd and 4th years (can opt for 5th year also), you have to maintain a score of 8.5+ each semester.

The advantage of going for this course offered by Thapar University is that you will get your degree from Trinity College. You will get world class exposure in Research and Technology given that you work hard. You will get a sense of the working style and culture of another country. The disadvantage is that this course is very expensive and you are required to maintain a C.G. of 8.5+. You might also suffer from a cultural shock upon arriving in a European country. European countries face economic instability all the time so if you don’t do well in academics, you might face difficulty in landing a job.

Before going for this course, consider all the pros and cons thoroughly. Overall, the IEP (Trinity) course at Thapar University offers a one in a kind opportunity.

Bennett University and Thapar University are among the best private universities in India in the Northern region. Bennett University is located in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh while Thapar University is located in Patiala, Punjab. 

Choosing among the two universities depends on the type of course one wants to pursue, location, exposure, placements and faculty. 

Course: Thapar University has an edge over Bennett University in providing engineering courses, however, Bennett University is more recognized for MBA degree programs. 

Admission: Both of these universities accept merit in national-level examinations like CUET, JEE Mains, CAT, MAT, NEET, etc. Admission is also granted based on Class XII scores.

What should be the order of preference for branches in Thapar University?

Trust me when I say there is no fixed order of preference for branches. The choice of branches is a very subjective matter and depends solely on your inclinations and future prospects. 

Choosing a branch just because it has good opportunities and everyone is running for it does not mean it will be the perfect one for you. I have seen many students take CSE just because of the hype and then regret it later as they realize they have no interest in coding. I will suggest 

  • Go for core branches like electrical and Civil if you aren’t sure of your interest and just want to land a stable government job. 
  • Go for easy and light branches like chemistry if you are willing to pursue MBA. 
  • Go for CSE or ECE, if your only goal is getting high packages in top companies. 

So my personal preference order looks like this.

CSE>Software>IT>ECE >Electrical >EIC>Civil>Chemical>Biotechnology

  • Stop playing video games completely.
  • But some new stationery and find a good company that motivates you to study.
  • Make a well-structured timetable for studies and follow it religiously.
  • Attend at least 90% of classes and tutorials to minimize the duration of self-study sessions.

You don't have to worry about your poor marks in mid-semesters as you still have time to improve.

Can a branch be upgraded in Thapar University Patiala and UIET Chandigarh on the basis of your first year CGPA?

At Thapar University, the branch change does not depend on your CGPA. There is a separate process for the same.

  • The 1st year students have to give a December Test by the end of their 1st semester. The syllabus for this test is general class 12 PCM and the subjects covered in the 1st semester.
  • A list ranking all the students appearing for this test is made. Based on this list, a counseling session is held to fill in the vacant seats in all the branches.
  • In case of a tie, JEE Rank is given preference. 

So, if you are desperate to get your branch changed at Thapar University, all you need to do is prepare well for this particular test.

  2. Always make intellectual friends who help you during exams with their informative notes.
  3. Explore places outside the campus and understand yourself better. Taking a break from academics is very necessary to refuel your passion for studies. 
  4. Join the societies that help you identify and pursue your passion. There is a society for almost everything from Literature and dramatics, to technical societies.
  5. Don't adopt a narrow perspective and limit yourselves to studies only. Plan your future and start working on it.  
  6. While many may not agree, CGPA does matter both in the short and long run. Maintain good grades to ensure a bright future.

The first year fee of the course is INR 5 lacs. The second, third and fourth-year fees are INR 5.20 lacs, INR 5.67 lacs and INR 6.18 lacs respectively.

Candidates applying for B.Tech must have passed 10+2 with 60% aggregate marks in Physics, Mathematics, and any one subject out of Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, and Technical Vocational Subjects. Admission is done on the basis of JEE scores. First year fee for B.Tech Biomedical is INR 4.13 Lakhs.
