Posted On - Mar 29, 2026 I was in COBS at Thapar. The curriculum is better than CSE, and relevant subjects like Discrete Maths are taught from the first semester itself. The only downside is that there are only 65 students in the 2020 batch, so interaction with COE students was limited. In COE, the curriculum is outdated, and the strength is around 300, which makes it a bit challenging to achieve a good CGPA, but the academics are fairly easy! Also, there are no placement statistics for COBS since the branch was started in 2019.

Posted On - Mar 23, 2026 Short answer: If you have the option, go for CSE. Many branches are likely to merge into CSE, just like they did for the 2016 batch where COE, CML, and CAG are now all under CSE., and If the branches don’t merge, remember that the Government of India only recognizes CSE/COE as Computer degrees. This can limit your opportunities for government exams or other prospects.. Also, my personal suggestion is DO NOT WASTE 25 Lakh on a degree from Thapar. IT WON’T BE WORTH IT.

Posted On - Mar 21, 2026 I would personally lean towards B.Tech Information Technology in DTU over BE Computer Science and Business Systems in Thapar University. DTU has a stronger placement record with visits from top companies like Microsoft and Nvidia, and the campus life seems vibrant with various fests and societies that cater to diverse interests. The faculty-to-student ratio and the qualifications of the professors at DTU also stand out, offering a solid educational experience. While Thapar has its own merits, especially in terms of course structure, DTU's overall student experience, better internships, and scholarships make it a more appealing choice for a tech-savvy student like me. If you're looking for a dynamic campus life and excellent placement opportunities, DTU is the way to go.

Posted On - Mar 19, 2026 DTU's B.Tech in Information Technology stands out with impressive placement statistics, including offers from top companies like Microsoft and Nvidia, and the potential for very high packages, such as 1 crore+. The internship opportunities are solid, featuring big names like Amazon and various startups. In contrast, the BE in Computer Science and Business Systems at Thapar University seems to have less detailed placement information, which makes it harder to assess its competitiveness. Based on this, I'd recommend DTU for a stronger job market and better overall package prospects, especially if you’re looking to maximize your career opportunities after graduation.

Posted On - Mar 18, 2026 I’ve looked into both DTU's B.Tech in Information Technology and Thapar University's BE in Computer Science and Business Systems, and I feel DTU offers a better return on investment. DTU has a solid placement record with big names like Microsoft and Nvidia hiring from there, and the tuition fees are around 1.5 lakhs, which is reasonable considering the quality of education and opportunities. Thapar's course also seems good, but the specifics on placements and scholarships aren't as strong as DTU's. If you're aiming for a career in tech with great internship options and a vibrant campus life, DTU is the smarter financial choice, while Thapar might be better suited for those looking for a more business-oriented approach.
