The fee per semester is 229500, development fee is 57000, and other charges sum upto 11000. Which is static and will remain same throughout the course i.e 8 semesters. We also need to pay rs 30,000 as admission fee one time. The hostel and mess charges are not included in this and depends on year and type of room you opt for. The campus is big, clean and has enough facilities to somewhat justify the amount. Also you can get many scholarships (merit based and merit cum need based). The scholarship is based on your 12 percentage and jee mains score for 2nd sem and on your CGPA for other semesters. No scholarship for 1st sem. You need to get good grades to get scholarship.

Earlier fees was 250000 and currently per semester I have paid Rs. 3 lac and there is a hike of fees than previous year. It provides better education as well as environment for students. Tiet fee structure for B.Tech students shows a 20% increase for the first year, raising fees from ?2.50 lakh to ?3 lakh. The university typically raises fees by 5-6% annually across various programs, including a 20% hike for engineering courses and a 60.2% increase for PhD programs Scholarships include fee waivers for students from lower-income backgrounds, particularly those whose parents earn below certain thresholds . The university emphasizes that these adjustments are routine and necessary for financial sustainability.

Registration fees is paid only once during the registration and it's just 23000. Currently I'm paying 570000 per year as semester fees which includes tution fees, academic fees, development fees, lab fees and other compulsory charges. There are many scholarships or financial aid that are available for students like scholarships based on the Percentage scored in Board Exams as well as JEE Mains score. Moreover merit cum means scholarship is also provided to the students.

The fees per i.e. of two semesters would pand around 5-5.5 lakhs depending on the branch. The computer science engineering department offers 4 branches that costs around 5 lakhs, rest all the branches would be around 5 to 5.25 akhs. This fees include every facility accept for hostel accommodations. In this fees a medical insurance is also covered. There is an admission fee of 23000 for the first time. The university offers 3 scholarships in various forms, the merit based which gives complete waive off and partial waive off to fees, depending upon the merit. There is also a merit cum need scholarship which gives waive off completely. However these scholarships are applied for each semester so one has to remain in the top percentiles to avail the benefits throughout the 4 years. Also several aluminis offer scholarships to students as well.

Fees: Fees are charged on a per semester basis for computer science. For students interested in other branches tution fees should be under the ones provided below. 1st year: One time payment during admission: 23000 (11000 admission fee + 10000 security + 1000 alumni fee) course fee: 170500 (104500 tution fee + 54000 development fees + 12000 for student activities, medical fees and exams) Note*: the above mentioned fees are per semester. 2nd year: I recieved a merit scholarship from the university with a 100% waiver on my tution and development fees so I only had to pay around 24000 for the 2nd year. 3rd year: Got another merit scholarship with 50% tution fee waiver however the actual fees will come out to be: 200800 (122640 tution fees + 63600 development fees) 4th year 232500(150300 tution fees + 67500 development fees)
Do you think the data is wrong ? Report Here
Thapar University provides three kinds of merit scholarships. You fall in the first category.
Category 1 consists of students with 95% and more in their 12th exam. This is the eligibility requirement. The scholarship is actually given on the basis of JEE Mains score of the eligible candidates. This means that the top 25 students as per JEE Mains scores who also attained 95% and more in their +2 are awarded this scholarship.
Through this scholarship, the students’ tuition and development fees are waived off. To keep getting this scholarship throughout their degree, the students need to maintain 8.5 or more CGPA without any backlogs.
If you have a good enough score in JEE Mains, you are sure to receive this scholarship from Thapar University.
At Thapar University, scholarships are offered under 2 categories
The level of difficulty in availing of these scholarships depends on the category you fall into. Comparatively, the first category is easier as you need to maintain a CGPA of 8.5 while for the second one, you need a CGPA of at least 9.5+ to consistently make it into the top 10% of students in your batch.
One of my friends graduated from Thapar University, he was a scholarship holder, So I think I can give you some information about the same.
According to the new rules at Thapar University, you will be getting a scholarship equal to the tuition fee of the current semester at Thapar University as per the following.
You also have another way of getting a scholarship that falls under the category of ‘Merit cum Means’. If your father or any family member’s collective income is less than 3 lakhs (not sure of the amount but it should be around 3) and you have a good CGPA.
There’s also another Scholarship for students who score more than 95% in 12th Standard Board Exams which is equal to the tuition fee of two semesters i.e. full year. This scholarship gets continued till the Final year but with a stipulation to score CGPA greater than 8.5 in each year.
You must keep a few things in mind before applying for IEP at Thapar University. First of all, by applying for IEP the total cost for your UG degree will cross 40-50 Lakhs. Second, in order to study at TCD, you’ll have to maintain 8.5+ CGPA in all your semesters.
I am listing down a few pros and cons of IEP so that you can decide for yourself accordingly-
Pros-
Cons-
I would recommend you consider all these factors thoroughly before making a decision. If possible, consult a career counselor as well. Thapar University provides various kinds of scholarships to its students. You can check the official website for more details on the same.
