Thapar the unique approach to MBA

Likes

Whole campus was clean and tidy and ground were maintained properly.
Most of the Professor teach in great detail specially for Finance and Marketing.
All specialization get independent placement training.

Dislikes

Smell and pollution from near factories is unbearable
Industry exposure is next to none for a MBA college
location of college is very remote from main city and roads are non-existent, this is also a reason why good companies don't come to the campus.

Admission:

It ranked on top 50 for top NIRF ranking for Management colleges and also my friend was studying in thapar university that also motivated me to join Thapar. apart from this thapar has a good reputation in market

Inside Thapar- placements, campus life and beyond

Likes

Thapar campus, classrooms and hostels are top notch
They are different society clubs, and many extra curricular activities. Good campus life
Good placement and internships for students

Dislikes

The fees of college is quite high sometimes become burden
While some teachers are good some are just engaged in slide reading
The batches are crowded and competition is stiff

the social envirnment is good, the sex ratio is around 1:3, for every girl there are 3 boys
socities / the campus is breathtaking, good safty inside campus

I disliked their classroom culture. It needs to be modernized and made inclusive
more cultural diversity and awarness needed
needs something that unifies everyone, something signature- thats also socially popular

Admission:

They had a good mechanical engineering course, i was very adament about choosing ME, they were one of the top pvt colleges that provide a good, structured and practical course especially ME, they have great workshops, 3D printing lab, etc

The overall infra of the college is really impressive
Library is best and provides a good environment to study.
Lecture halls are made very well and huge enough.

Dislikes

There are connectivity issues is really a big problem.

Admission:

I was getting addmission in some other private colleges but this was near to me and had a great rew.. Its infra and hostels are really worth it. The addimission was on the basis of JEE result and for COE branch the cutoff was approx 83 with punjab state quota. There is no exam for it just an form to be filled.

the campus life was vibrant with active club ,fests and peer groups, social life was good and the girls to boys ratio was around 1:4 ,better than many each other collegess.
faculy were qualified ,with most holding Phds .their teaching style was structured and they guided well in projects ,internships , and highjer study pre
placement support was strong ,with top firms visiting every yera .traing seasons ,mock test , and resume help made the job process smoother.

Dislikes

fee was high and increasd every year , making it through without aid. scholarships was slow at times
some labs and hostel areas needed bettteer keepup .wifi was patchy during peak load
course was rigid in places , with limited choice of electives and some outdated topics not aligned with latest industry needs

Admission:

i chose thapar university over a few otheer colleges i applied to like VIT, SRM and others stae level instituted . i got offers from couple of them but thapar stood because strong palcemnt record better industy limits and overall brand value valuein engineering .the campuse nvironemnt ,infrastrutre and peer crowd also influnced my choice.compared to others

1. I applied for other universities likes Chandigarh University from which i got confirmed admission from. I choose Thapar University over Chandigarh University because of its reputation. 2. No i didn't get any rejection. 3. First i register on portal, then there was an interview, which follows document verification and then i got the approval letter.

A Valuable Learning Curve with Real-World Exposure

Campus Culture and Community- I enjoyed a well rounded campus life. It's a home away from home that fosters friendships and teamwork across disciplines.
Alumni Network- Alumni support referrals ease the placement journey, especially for dilligent students. and talking about the ratio like the ratio is 1:1
Hostel life- Many students appreciate the food quality and the rooms, as the rooms are so spacious and many facilities are given in the hostels. The major thiong that a student would love their is going and sitting with each other after 10.

Dislikes

There's a notable absence of a stong student or formal student body, which leaves some students feeliing disconnected from decision- making.
75% attendance requirement, with very few exceptions allowed, limits flexibility.
Food options sometime fell repetitive after a while.

Admission:

I choose Thapar because of its strong academic reputation, consistent placement records, and well structured curriculum. The cmpus environment, modern infrastructure, and opportunities for research and extracurricular activities also influenced my decision. Compared to other Colleges Thapar offes a bellet balance between academics, practical exposure, and student life. The admission process was smooth and transparent. One key factor that stood out was Thapar's location and campus environment.

Other than money factor everything was great

the best part of college is the infrastructure such as hostels and grounds that they have.
mess food is quite good as compared to other colleges .
girls is to boys ratio is also very good . like for our 2027 batch its 1100 boys to 900 girls

Dislikes

worst part is that there are many useless subjects in the curriculum such as psychology etc etc
also one tging that hostel in time is till 8 30 pm only that the worst part of students life
another thing is that there are not enough things in patiala to roam around like you seriously get bored there

i applied for lnmiit college jaipur . there i was expecting computer branch but did got electronics branch so i didnt went there.here in thapar it was based on jee mains percentile for addmission. computer branches were available till 89 percentile for punjab students and till 94 percentile for outside punjab students. so i had percentile of 95 so i easily got computer branch over here.

Thapar University removed CSE Hons. a few years ago. Now the students of Computer Engineering can opt for extra credits by choosing animation/machine learning as an elective. As these courses no longer exist on their own, there aren’t any individual cutoffs for admission to them.

Here is the suggested percentile for the CSE branch of Thapar University

General Category

Being the main branch, the score generally goes to 98.66 for the COSE branch and remains similar in the subsequent rounds.
The percentile required for COE and COSE branches is 96.66.
The percentile cutoff for COBS is around 97.33.

Cut Off For ST, SC, And PHO (Outside Punjab)

If you are under the ST category then for the COE branch 72-75 percentile, for the COBS branch 75 to 80 percentile, and for the ENC branch 78 to 79 percentile and 86 PCM percentile for MEE.
If you are under the SC category then for the COE branch 82 to 83 PCM percentile, for the COBS branch at least 89 percentile, and for the ENC branch 79 percentile. 70 PCM percentile for MEE. You need to have 70 to 80 percentile in your JEE Mains.
If you are under the PHO category then for the COE branch you need to have 77 to 80 percentile, for the COSE branch 78 to 85 percentile, and for the COPC branch 92 to 94 percentile.

On average, you should score at least 60% Aggregate of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in the 12th class for General Candidates. There is a relaxation of 5% for students belonging to reserved categories like SC or ST. As far as the JEE Marks are considered,

Students belonging to the general category should score marks above 72 - 75 marks in JEE Mains.

You cannot determine the quality of intake at any university just by their JEE Main ranks because one test is not enough to judge one’s performance. It’s not like a student with a high rank is better than a student with a low rank. You will be surprised to know that many times students with 150+ JEE Mains end up with a CGPA of less than 6 while students with less than 100 JEE Score are in the top 5 percent. Judging the students based on a number of criteria here is my opinion

Thapar University has a better student crowd than most engineering colleges.
Ragging is not tolerated here and there is a very good harmony between seniors and juniors
The students here aren’t much involved in alcohol unlike most engineering colleges these days.
There is a strong bond between the peers and the students are like a close-knit community.

In reality, it’s the ambiance and culture of the campus that determines the quality of the crowd it attracts. For instance, a top ranker may come to a bad college and lose all his motivation while a low ranker might come to a college with a healthy academic environment and might get motivated for the better.

So, I don’t believe that the student quality at Thapar University is any less than other engineering colleges.

To get admission to the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) program at Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (TIET) as an SC candidate from outside Punjab, you will need to meet the following requirements:

You should have a valid JEE Main score or a valid score in the Thapar Entrance Exam (TEET) conducted by the university.
The cutoff score for admission varies each year, depending on factors such as the number of applicants, the difficulty level of the entrance exam, and the availability of seats.
As an SC candidate, you will be eligible for a relaxation of 5% in the minimum qualifying marks for admission.
In addition to the entrance exam score, your academic performance in Class 12th will also be considered.
The minimum eligibility criteria for admission to the CSE program at TIET is 60% marks in Class 12th with Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/Technical Vocational subjects.

Due to the increased student intake, the cut-offs for COE went down to 100 marks for Punjab and 130 marks for outside Punjab candidates, in the last few years. Here is the cutoff trend for COE.
