The college has opportunities of scholarships for students have family income less than 10 lakhs and the college is great helper in these cases
Computer engineering students enjoy excellent placement opportunities, whereas for other branch students, there are fewer companies specifically in the core biotechnology sector.
The campus infrastructure is one of the best thing, it's pretty, filled with beautiful buildings, comfortable classes fully air conditioned, greenery all around sports complex running lanes, during winters and autumn the weather is so pleasant here.

Dislikes

I understand that there is a placement cell available here, but recently, the placements have not been very good.
Some teachers are not good at teaching and problem here to to find a rrsouce to study the topic
Fees is very high here which is the worst part here .

Thapar the unique approach to MBA

Likes

Whole campus was clean and tidy and ground were maintained properly.
Most of the Professor teach in great detail specially for Finance and Marketing.
All specialization get independent placement training.

Dislikes

Smell and pollution from near factories is unbearable
Industry exposure is next to none for a MBA college
location of college is very remote from main city and roads are non-existent, this is also a reason why good companies don't come to the campus.

Placement Experience:

students are eliglible for placements when they pass previous backlogs and have 75% attendance. almost 50+ companies showed up mostly taking resume and not conducting any interviews. avg. package: 6L almost 70% students got placed mostly in sales.

Inside Thapar- placements, campus life and beyond

Likes

Thapar campus, classrooms and hostels are top notch
They are different society clubs, and many extra curricular activities. Good campus life
Good placement and internships for students

Dislikes

The fees of college is quite high sometimes become burden
While some teachers are good some are just engaged in slide reading
The batches are crowded and competition is stiff

students become eligible for placement in 6 semester onwards Every year 200+ companies visit the college 2000+ offers are offered among various branches Highest package this year was about 50-60 lakh I plan to pursue Masters degree from abroad later on

the social envirnment is good, the sex ratio is around 1:3, for every girl there are 3 boys
socities / the campus is breathtaking, good safty inside campus
great oppourtunites provided by the college itself

Dislikes

I disliked their classroom culture. It needs to be modernized and made inclusive
more cultural diversity and awarness needed
needs something that unifies everyone, something signature- thats also socially popular

Course Curriculum Overview:

The mechanical engineering course is one of the most prestigeous courses from thapar university, they have quite great faculty and projects going on. The society fateh is livinbg proof for that. There are certain signature branch, they provide a wide varity of learning combinations. the course and curriculum can be less bookish and reducing written work are the improvement i'd suggest

Honest is the best Policy

Likes

The overall infra of the college is really impressive
Library is best and provides a good environment to study.
Lecture halls are made very well and huge enough.

Dislikes

There are connectivity issues is really a big problem.

Placement Experience:

Placements are really great of our college as its avg pakage is of 11 lac from computer related branches. Girls are eligible in second year for inters and for boys its generally from 3rd year because of the reservations.

The placement were so bad I mean the company came but they only took sales people rather than coming the finance profile or the operation profile so minimum package was 2 lakh doing mba getting low is quite not good

the campus life was vibrant with active club ,fests and peer groups, social life was good and the girls to boys ratio was around 1:4 ,better than many each other collegess.
faculy were qualified ,with most holding Phds .their teaching style was structured and they guided well in projects ,internships , and highjer study pre
placement support was strong ,with top firms visiting every yera .traing seasons ,mock test , and resume help made the job process smoother.

Dislikes

fee was high and increasd every year , making it through without aid. scholarships was slow at times
some labs and hostel areas needed bettteer keepup .wifi was patchy during peak load
course was rigid in places , with limited choice of electives and some outdated topics not aligned with latest industry needs

Placement Experience:

almost 70-85 % of eligble of students got placeed in reputed firms with CSE and ECE branches achiving the highest ratio .profiles offerred covered software development ,dalta analytics ,consulting ,R&D and core engineering roles .placemnt cell was active ,conducting taring , mocks interviewsd and resume sessions which helped alot in preepartion .

1. Great research opportunities. 2. There were alot of practical learning, so it prepares you well for the real world. 3. Course curriculum is as per UGC pattern and Teaching Methodology is as per students demands, so we were good on that side. 4. There were mid sem exams and then end sem exams in a semester.

A Valuable Learning Curve with Real-World Exposure

Campus Culture and Community- I enjoyed a well rounded campus life. It's a home away from home that fosters friendships and teamwork across disciplines.
Alumni Network- Alumni support referrals ease the placement journey, especially for dilligent students. and talking about the ratio like the ratio is 1:1
Hostel life- Many students appreciate the food quality and the rooms, as the rooms are so spacious and many facilities are given in the hostels. The major thiong that a student would love their is going and sitting with each other after 10.

Dislikes

There's a notable absence of a stong student or formal student body, which leaves some students feeliing disconnected from decision- making.
75% attendance requirement, with very few exceptions allowed, limits flexibility.
Food options sometime fell repetitive after a while.

Placement Experience:

Placement in the college are decent. Mostly students got placed for sales and marketing role. There are very few companies who came for Finance ,HR and Operations and other specializatins. So mostly at the end other specialix=zation students end up with getting a job role in slaes or marketing only.

Sex ratio was good and maintained well, our class was good
Exposure was good, other than academics as well
Campus was beautiful and teachers were supportive

Dislikes

Money i spent on degree due to low package in placement
Other than money factor everything was great
Could have more stars on thr campus for events like other campuses

Though when I got admission in this college, I saw the placement rates were very nice, around 95%, but maybe it was our session's fault. I passed out in 2024, and in that particular year, the placements were not as expected and as seen in the previous batch, so that was something very much disappointing because I paid so much money on a degree, only everything was good about the college, but in the end, placement matters during my session. Usually, the companies that hired for example, 10 students only hired two students.

the best part of college is the infrastructure such as hostels and grounds that they have.
mess food is quite good as compared to other colleges .
girls is to boys ratio is also very good . like for our 2027 batch its 1100 boys to 900 girls

Dislikes

worst part is that there are many useless subjects in the curriculum such as psychology etc etc
also one tging that hostel in time is till 8 30 pm only that the worst part of students life
another thing is that there are not enough things in patiala to roam around like you seriously get bored there

from 6th semester students are leigible for placements. here lots and lots of companies visit. even all these companies dont visit every iit like d.e.shaw,jpmc , morgan stanley etc etc. well d.e.shaw didnt made offer from last 2 years to our campus but its ok there are literally 100 of companies that visit. highest package last year was 54 lakhs as sde in morgan stanley. if you belong to computer branch then placement percentage is almost 90% but for other branches its 50-60%. if i did not get the placement i will be applying for software engineer offcampus.

Thapar University has a brand name, however, the ground reality for this university is not very pleasant and it is swiftly losing the qualities that defined it in its glorious past. The rankings of students enrolled in the university are going down each year. The administration is taking serious measures against the same, however, because of these measures the other students are suffering. One example is the strict entry and exit timings.

Academically, your experience in this institution will differ according to your branch. The CSE branch has a cooperative faculty and lenient attendance criteria. This is not the case for other branches. In other branches, some faculty members may hold personal grudges against you while some may fail you for missing the required attendance mark (75%) by as small as 0.1%. The mess is below average and the classrooms are not very impressive. The administration is very slow.

However, there are positive points about Thapar University as well. The alumni from Thapar are placed in some of the best companies in India and abroad. It has some of the best synthetic courts in any engineering college in India. There are many teachers at Thapar University who serve as a source of inspiration to their students. Sports facilities for all the major sports are great. Placements at Thapar University are great and the labs are well updated. Even though Thapar is facing a drug problem, its teachers and administration are very active in trying to solve this issue.

Thus, even though Thapar University has outlived its glorious days, it has some positive points too. It is completely your choice whether or not you wish to take admission into it.

Thapar University has better placements than most private colleges and NITs. But the problem is, placements here directly depend on the grades of the students, and only the serious ones who work hard to build their profile bag the best packages.

Now the reviews of students are mixed because not everyone invests the same efforts and bags high packages. The people giving bad reviews are the ones who did not build their resumes well.

The best thing about Thapar University is the level of freedom you get to experience here. However, the increasing intake is slowly deteriorating the student quality so you might want to consider this before joining.
