Likes
- The college has opportunities of scholarships for students have family income less than 10 lakhs and the college is great helper in these cases
- Computer engineering students enjoy excellent placement opportunities, whereas for other branch students, there are fewer companies specifically in the core biotechnology sector.
- The campus infrastructure is one of the best thing, it's pretty, filled with beautiful buildings, comfortable classes fully air conditioned, greenery all around sports complex running lanes, during winters and autumn the weather is so pleasant here.
Dislikes
- I understand that there is a placement cell available here, but recently, the placements have not been very good.
- Some teachers are not good at teaching and problem here to to find a rrsouce to study the topic
- Fees is very high here which is the worst part here .

Placement Experience:
Campus Placements in the current year are not that great because the overall market is in a slowdown but yes two years back the college had a very good placement and till now I have been able to get an intern and I hope that I would be able to get my placement in the coming months.

Placement Experience:
It gives excellent placement offers with around 270 companies visits. The highest package for 2025 passng batch is 54LPA with a average package of 10 to 12 LPA. Top companies like google , apple ,microsoft,amzon ,Barclays ,deloitte and many more offers in thapar.

- The facilities are amazing across the college.
- Thapar has one of the best libraries of India which is quite an achievement
- A healthy boy girl ratio (around 1:3) which is amazing for an engineering Institute
Dislikes
- Not much to complain about, but can say some gym equipments are outdated
- Mostly rely on youtube for studies though PPT are shared
- Too many couples in the college can make it frustrating
Placement Experience:
The average placement through college is 14 LPA which is decent for such a large crowd. From the 7th semester students are eligible for placements. Many renowned companies visit us for offers. Last year the highest package was 1.15 cr.
I am trying to explore my options as of now but mostly will be persuing MBA.

From semester 6 you are eligible of getting jobs
Microsoft, apple, JP morgan, Swiggy, zomato, tata visit campus for placements and around 50 out of 200 got placed with an average package of 12 lakh pr year
Highest package is around 60 lakh and average is 12 lakhs
Around 80 percent are got placed
Plans after getting degree is first one year job experience and then masters

- Weather is not so good here from hot summers to cold chilly winters

Students get many opportunies but main is the forth sem when they get opportunities for jobs and internships

- Great infrastructure. The classes, labs and halls were well organised. Faculty was nice.
Dislikes
- Only one auditorium, that too very small. During events or functions, to get in we had a lottery system.
Placement Experience:
Companies start coming from 6th sem onwards and take a fee good students with them for internship. They also get PPO if there performance remain good in the company. The actual placement starts from 7th semester onwards. Some very good companies came like apple, robrix, microsoft, jp morgan and chase etc. Highest package I think was aroung 55 LPA. Average was around 9 LPA for computer science.

- Curriculum of core branches and structure of syllabus
- Less effective practical training sessions

They are nice , it has got uplifted very much this year , black rock took 79 students with a package of 18-22lakh , meesho took 6 , nutanix with the highest package 55lakh , for 5 students , average will be around 14 lakh

The placement scenario is good, has been affected due to the recession, but is still quite good. Many companies visit the college, and the average placement of the Computer Science programme was about 12-15 lakhs per annum.

- Infrastructure is really nice. Hostel rooms,classrooms are fully furnished and clean. Labs are fully equipped. Hostels have good mess and ven gym and laundry service. The campus is really green and beautiful.
- University focuses on overall development of students providing varoius oppurtunities for hackathons, debating , internships etc.
- Seniors and Professors are ready to help and motivate the students.
Dislikes
- The fees is awfully high. Moreover hostel accomodation is very expensive making it difficult for middle class families to manage.
- The schedule can be really hectic with academics, projects and skill learning.
- The student intake is high . More than 1000 students in Computer Branch is a lot.
Placement Experience:
The campus does offer placements. Top companies like Google, Apple,Microsoft vist Thapar and even recruit students from here. Students become eligible to apply from 4th semester. Highest offer made was 55 lakh and average is 11 lakh. About 70 to 80 percent of students get placed. My plans after getting degree is to do job for 3 to 4 years and then probably go for masters.

Thapar University has a brand name, however, the ground reality for this university is not very pleasant and it is swiftly losing the qualities that defined it in its glorious past. The rankings of students enrolled in the university are going down each year. The administration is taking serious measures against the same, however, because of these measures the other students are suffering. One example is the strict entry and exit timings.
Academically, your experience in this institution will differ according to your branch. The CSE branch has a cooperative faculty and lenient attendance criteria. This is not the case for other branches. In other branches, some faculty members may hold personal grudges against you while some may fail you for missing the required attendance mark (75%) by as small as 0.1%. The mess is below average and the classrooms are not very impressive. The administration is very slow.
However, there are positive points about Thapar University as well. The alumni from Thapar are placed in some of the best companies in India and abroad. It has some of the best synthetic courts in any engineering college in India. There are many teachers at Thapar University who serve as a source of inspiration to their students. Sports facilities for all the major sports are great. Placements at Thapar University are great and the labs are well updated. Even though Thapar is facing a drug problem, its teachers and administration are very active in trying to solve this issue.
Thus, even though Thapar University has outlived its glorious days, it has some positive points too. It is completely your choice whether or not you wish to take admission into it.

Thapar University offers a good MCA program. The institute has a brilliant MCA faculty base. It offers good learning resources, and laboratory facilities to meet the requirement of students.
Thapar University placement highlights show the average CTC offered to MCA students is around INR 7 LPA. While the highest CTC offered is around INR 8 LPA. TCS, Infosys, and Fidelity are among the major recruiters in the placement drive.
