My review of TIET

I think the course is a bit outdated and there is no point to include subjects like chemistry, metallargy, environment studies etc. Instead adding more of course opted for(in my case computer science) subjects like system design, UI design, design patterns etc would have been much better

Companies start coming from 6th sem onwards and take a fee good students with them for internship. They also get PPO if there performance remain good in the company. The actual placement starts from 7th semester onwards. Some very good companies came like apple, robrix, microsoft, jp morgan and chase etc. Highest package I think was aroung 55 LPA. Average was around 9 LPA for computer science.

The yearly fee was 300000. I dont remember the breakdown. The fees of my batchmates were same as me. In my first year, I got a scholorship based on my Jee mains rank. To get the scholorship continued for the second year onwarsds I had to have a good cgpa then only I could have got the scholorship.

The campus was very good. There were a lot of festivals and events that took place throughout the year. The library was very big and they had abundance of books and multiple copy of the same book. We could lease them for free. Didnot have to buy a single course related book during my entire college time.

I was alotted 3 seater in my first year in H hostel. Food was good there. In the second year, I shifted to Hostel K in two seater and in third year I shifted to B hostel in single seater. K was the most fancy one out of the 3.

I got a rank of 15615 in JEE mains. And I wanted to study computer science from a well reputed college and with this rank, I think Thapar was the best option. If I get a chance to change my decision of joining Thapar, I would do so and choose NIT manipur as it would be much affordable to me and also I would be. able to stay in my hometown with my parents.

The faculty to student ratio was decent. There was one faculty for avg 60 students. Maninder Ma'am was the best faculty. She taught us C++in 1st year. PS rana sir was also very good. He taught us python and machine learning during summer vacations. Sometimes it got tough to get attention by faculty as there were a lot of students(around 1000) in Computer Science branch alone. It also impacted the placements quite a bit

There were multiple hostels. Some good, some not so good. Some old and some newly built. Food was good in some hostels but was not so in others. Hotel J night canteen was fantastic. There were gyms in every hostel.
