For campus placements, students become eligible from the 7th semester onwards. Most of the placements are done in the IT sector and electronics. The highest CTC achieved is by electronics students i.e. 1.2 crores. The highest average package is of the Computer science and engineering branch. Many companies visited some are a regular basis namely Cisco, Goldman Sachs, servicenow India, rapidfort Inc. paypal University, Google India, avalara India, Atlassian etc. The highest package is 1.2 crore and the average package is 12 lakhs CTC. There are about all over 70% of students placed. Branch wise highest average package is for Computer science and the lowest average package is for civil engineering. My first plan is to take campus placements and and second option is to prepare for government jobs if the first option fails.
The course curriculum is quite well but not perfect teachers do focus only on completing the syllabus and not on teaching students properly in an efficient and good way so that they get good knowledge. I have haven't chosen this course but Infact I was not able to take the course of my interest as my score does not satisfies it's requirements. And out of remaining course civil engineering ha smore scope in government jobs so that's why I preferred it over other remaining options. Faculty members are enough to satisfy the educational needs of students but don't do their job properly and focus more on completing syllabus and not on teaching. There is not same qualification for all the faculty members some are only Btech while others are Mtech completed , some also did PhD with Mtech, some also did researches and studied from abroad overall some teachers have very good knowledge while others have less. It's not for difficult to pass term exam but teachers fails student intentially.
The fee structure is based on the family income of students, for students having a family income greater than 5 lakhs per year there is no fee concession and yearly they have to pay about 2 lakhs, for students having a family income between 1 to 5 lakhs there is 1/3 of the total fees, for students having family income less than 1 lakhs they got full fee concession these students have to pay only institute fees which is about 50000 yearly. Other than that everyone who is an option for the hostel has to pay 50000 yearly. For scholarships, there are various state scholarships you can opt for or you can avail of other private scholarships which accept NIT students, you can only avail of any scholarship, of you have already availed of one you can not accept another scholarship. You will find various scholarships on Buddy4study.com. One of the famous scholarships is the Medhavi scholarship for engineering students which gives a time payment of 50000 to eligible students.
Campus life is good but not very great. The campus size is also very short there are not many things to discover on the campus. There are three to four canteens inside the campus. The campus is located outside the city so you get a fresh and clean and healthy environment, but for purchasing things and for travelling you will get difficulties. The library facility is the best thing in the college although it is open only during the day you can study up to late at night in the reading room beside the Library. Books from almost all branches are available in the library. If you are in the first year then only you will get difficulties in availing books but later in 2nd year or later it becomes very easy and you can avail books easily for about 3-4 weeks. There are many clubs in the college for almost every field like for every game, dance, social activity, public speaking, public helping etc. Clubs are almost run by senior students who are in their final year.
There are many hostels in our college for girls and boys. To satisfy the criteria to be a hosteler you should belong 20 km away from the college. Yearly fees of each hostel is 50000 i.e. 25000 for each semester which includes hostel seat rent and mess fee and security fees. There are separate hostel for girls and boys students. Also separate hostels for freshers and separate hostels for other year students. 2nd and 3rd year students are provided 3 mega hostels having two seats in each room and 1st year students are provided hostels having 2-3-4-5 seats in each room. For 4th year, Mtech, and PhD students there are also separate hostels having varying number of seats in each room. Out of the 25000 fees paid for hostel about 8000 is for hostel seat and remaining is for mess. The meal quality is not so good but is sufficient to fill your stomach. Registration process is offline for hostels after the admission. Since the college is outside the main city so it will be some difficult for you.
To gain admission to Dr B R Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar first of all you have to prepare for the Joint Entrance Examination(JEE) mains after that for the civil engineering branch you have to score above the 93/94 percentile. For admission you have to go through the JOSAA(JOINT SEAT ALLOCATION AUTHORITY) process you have to do everything stepwise for example registration, choice filling, fee payment etc. The same process is available on the website JOSAA.nic.in. After that, you will get the required course if your score satisfies it. If not then you can also try for the CSAB round which holds for the remaining seats in Josaa. This college is better than other nit as u can get this college at decent rank in jee mains and the placement scenerio is better than other colleges, also good cultre is seen in this college, all the members including students, staff and faculty all are cooperative and good in nature
This college is National Institute Of Technology, which makes it a government college. And hence, the fee structure is comparatively less as compared to other private colleges. Although facilities are not much as compared to private colleges, but the fee and placements are decent.

I had an option to choose core branch in some government college or computer science in some private college. I chose this college beacuse I would get the NIT tag, which differentiates a lot from others. Also if you apply to masters outside India, NIT and IIT tag helps a lot. I specifically chose NIT Jalandhar becuase of it's NIRF rank. It tanks better than other NITs (hamirpur, srinagar) I was getting. Also NIT Jalandhar placement is better than many NIT and IIIT. You need to score a decent rank in JEE Mains and apply on JOSSA for counselling, there you will give your prefernece order of college and branch you like, be carefull filling this.

Every coin has two sides. Similarly the institute NIT Jalandhar has both pros and cons.
Pros-
Friendly ambiance. Seniors are there for support. Ragging is strictly prohibited
The mess food is usually Punjabi and quite delicious
Alot of emphasis is placed on extracurricular activities. There are various clubs like LADS, MADS etc. Various cultural events are also held.
The seniors here are literal genius and interactions with them is very beneficial
Placement opportunities are pretty good at every branch
Proper hygiene facilities and lush green infrastructure add to its ambiance. New lecture halls and departments are under construction.
Great exposure through technical and cultural events Techniti and Utkansh
New short term courses are launched under GIAN (Global Initiative of Academic Networks )
International workshops and conferences that are held frequently help you gain a lot of experience
Cons-
The quality of faculty here is below average. They focus more on bookish knowledge than a broader practical approach.
Technical events resemble cultural events
No assistance is provided for training.
Marks matter more than general excellence. Everyone is in a war to secure the highest CGPA.
The 75% attendance rule works against the favour of many students.
So we can say that the merits overshadow the demerits to a great extent. In fact every NIT has similar cons which are almost uncontrollable. So just be a great learner and focus on your own betterment.
I hail from Telangana(Hyderabad) and I initially joined NIT Jalandhar because of its high ranking. But right after my admission the ranking stooped below 100.
I started regretting my decision to join NIT Jalandhar. But it was during the time of placements that I was finally content with my decision.
NIT Jalandhar’s training and placement cell is exceptionally good. Even though NIT Jalandhar’s rank is above 100 it is in the top 10 in NITs placement ranking. Also the average placements see a rise every year.
So rather than focusing on the ranking of the college, focus on your own motivation.
No college is good or bad. It’s your own attitude that determines whether it’s good or not. Colleges affect you 30%. The rest 70% is influenced by your own motivation and hard work.
No matter how bad your college is, if you have invested sincere efforts you will reap good results. And if you are in the highest ranked college but you lack the will to succeed then the college won’t help you succeed. It’s you who decides your future. Don’t let a mere college decide it.
Same is the case with NIT Jalandhar. Although there are some misconceptions about its worth, the fact is that if you really work hard here, you will land a decent job.
To know how the Civil branch at NIT Jalandhar is, we need to consider 3 factors:
Academic: The theoretical subjects are well taught by top notch faculty. The labs are however not in very good condition here.
Internships: There are not great internship opportunities here. Students themselves are not interested in spending their summers at the site.
Placements: L&T is the major recruiter in private companies for civil engineers .For public jobs you need to appear for GATE for PSUs. If you have completed any internship, then placements will be very easy for you.
All in all NIT Jalandhar is a great choice to pursue Civil Engineering.
The word better is a competitive form. Since you haven’t mentioned better than which college I have done a general comparison. Well yes, NIT Jalandhar is better than:
Other private colleges are just money-making machines
New NITs
Some new IITs as well
Established in 1987, this college has a strong alumni base so it’s better than many new colleges.
Change in branch is not a very difficult procedure at NIT Jalandhar. All you need to do is follow some simple tips that might help you:
Don’t miss classes. Make proper notes.
Don’t take any minor non seriously.
Don’t hesitate to talk with teachers.
Focus more on courses with more credits.
Basically if you are aiming at a branch change you should create a good image among the teachers. Get good grades and recognition and your task of changing branches will become easier.
There is no best student organization because they depend on your personal interest. But based on popularity I have listed the top 10 student organizations at NIT Jalandhar.
MADS(Music and Dance Society): This one is responsible for all cultural and religious events.
E-Cell(Entrepreneurship Cell): This cell was developed to instill entrepreneurship culture in the college. It conducts seminars, and internship fairs and also heads other cells like Media cell, Analytics cell, Research cell, etc.
Cult society: This organizes all the cultural activities of all the branches.
Quest: This is a quizzing club wherein general knowledge is imparted in a fun and interesting way.
Bawre: This is a dramatics club of NIT Jalandhar.
Netra: This is a NITJ photography Club.
R-tist: This is the official Robotics Club of NIT Jalandhar.
Prayaas: This is a Non-Profit and Non-Registered Organisation led and managed by Students of NIT Jalandhar. They work on Enlightening Poor Students on The Basics and Importance of Education.
Texstyles - This is an official society of Textile Engineers of NIT-Jalandhar.
Daksha: This is for making electric cars. It’s open to all branches to participate.
Trust me the list does not end here. There are many more. The versatility of these clubs aims at nurturing every possible talent at NIT Jalandhar.
In NIT Jalandhar, the marking system out of 100 is:
20 for minor 1
20 for minor 2
50 for major
10 for assignments
The grading system is as follows:
90–100 -> S grade =10
80–89 -> A grade =9
70–79 -> B grade =8
60–69 -> C grade=7
50–59 -> D grade=6
40–49->E grade=5
<40 is a fail no grade.
NIT Jalandhar follows a credit system wherein every subject is allotted a credit. For example
Maths has 4 credits. So if you get a B grade then your score will be 4*8= 32
CGPA Calculation: The sum of scores divided by total no.of credits gives your CGPA.
My cousin is studying at the newly started IT branch. She thinks it is actually a good one.
The placements at the IT branch are as good as CSE and ECE.
The faculty is almost the same as that of CSE.
The academics and curriculum are fairly good at this branch.
So if you get into the IT branch at NIT Jalandhar it’s a good opportunity.
The various merits and demerits of NIT Jalandhar have been listed below. These points are based on personal experience only.
Pros-
The overall infrastructure is good with 2 basketball courts, 2 volleyball courts, a cricket playground, and 7 seven boys hostel. Also, some new buildings are under construction.
Food is much better than other NITs. Canteens are also available on campus.
You get tremendous help from seniors. There is no ragging at all.
A diverse range of student organizations and clubs to pursue your hobbies
The campus is far from the city and this distance ensures peace and a calm environment.
The campus has many hill stations nearby. So you can visit these places during vacations.
Cons-
The major shortcoming you will face here is that the teaching quality here is below average.
Language barriers exist here. It will be difficult for you if you don’t know Punjabi.
The hostels for first-year students are very old with no LAN and Wi-Fi facilities. Only mega hostels have such facilities.
The size of the campus is small compared to other NITs.
Every college will have its pros and cons. It’s you who decides how much you are willing to sacrifice for your goals.
You can check here to see what types of facilities NIT Jalandhar provides.
