Fees and Financial Aid:

As i am student whoes parent's annual income is less than 5 lakhs so i got consession in my fees. My annual fees for my program (Mechanical Engineering) is 90000 approx. My batchmates who have annual income of less than 1 lakh , there fee is 40000 for a year, whereas whoes income is more than 5 lakhs yearly, there fees is 2 lakh approx. But there are many scholarship programs which provide some relief from fees and help students to achieve their education.

Life at NIT Jalandhar : A comprehensive student perspective

For B.Tech at NIT Jalandhar the annual fee structure varies by category SC/ST/PWD and general/OBC Students with family income below 1,00,000 pay no tution free institutional charges around 51,000 to 56,000 yearly four hostelers covering registration exam development hostel medical alumni and other compulsory fees. Day scholars pay about 34000-39000. General/OBC students with 1 to lahk income pay 41600 tution plus these charges , totaling about 97000. those Above 5,00,000 pay 1,25,000 tuition with a total near 1,81,000 yearly fees includes one time security deposit and bus facility charges if opted Scholarships like merit come need and category based tuition waivers are available loans are sanctioned for eligible students the fee has remained mostly stable revisable only by official notification. In first semester I paid around 80000 tution fee while in 2nd sem it was 77000 same for the third and fourth semester as well. This is for the general category students it may vary for other categories. Like for SC/ ST category they were provided i guess 50% discount , although not sure about it.

for students. belonging to gen /obc/ category with an annual family income of 5 lakh and above,the tuition fee is 62500 per sem ,while other charges amt to approx 30,500 for odd sem and 25,000 for even sem .In the first sem ,an additional refunndable caution money of 5k is charged.On avg,the total. fee for one year is around 1.8 lakh+50 k mess money per year. Students whose family income lies bw 1 lakh and 5 lakh pay a reduced tuition fee of 20840 per sem and those with income below 1 lakh as well as SC ST and PWd students are exempted from paying tuition fees and only pay the remaining institute charges of about 56k per year .NITJ also offers various scholorships . The institut merit cum means scholorship is for students whose family income is below 4.5 lakh and a cgpa of above 7.0 offering 10 k-20 k per year. Additionally, national level scholorships such as the Central Sector Scholorhips ,post matric scholorhships for SC/ST/OBC students are there. Overall the cost of doing btech at nit j for a general catgory student who is a hosteller is approx 7.2 lakh .

For ST students thier no tution fees. You just have to pay hostel and mess charges.. in even semester the fees is around Rs 25500 and in odd semester it is around Rs 30500 for Hostelers. So it around Rs 56000 in1 year and Rs 448000 for total 4 years. For General students , the hostel and mess fees is same, just they have to add additional tution fees. If the student's family income is less than 1 lakh, they don't have to pay any tution fees, only mess fees have to be paid. If the student's family income is in between 1lakh to 5 lakh, they have to pay around Rs 51300.(Mess+tution fees) And if the student's family income is more than 5 lakh, they have to pay around Rs 93000 per semester (mess+, fees)

When I'm in NITJ see what I got.

Year wise college fee is since I'm SC so 56000 per year, for me tution fee waived (SC), I have paid in Jossa extra 5000 it was platform fee for councelling perpose, in 1st year you have to pay 10000 in hostel+mess fee i think for security purposes may it is returned back after completion of degree, my batch mate like who is belong to general category and his family income above 1 but under 5 lakh he has to pay extra 20840 as tution fee it's like that if someone general or OBC family income more than 5 lakh per annum they should pay 62500 tution fee per year it is quite good because they are able to pay for that, there is types of scholarship available on college website like nsp and FFE etc . As I'm New here but it is quite comfortable only one thing which I don't know about that there is must 75% attendence and they are very strict about that , as I'm not regular school going boy for me it's very deficult to menage but there is one thing which I should must add holiday Saturday and Sunday . It is quite relaxed for me. I completed my schooling in jnv so for me I'm very comfortable with my hostel and roommate they all are good. I'm really happy after comming here as I'm very far from home but very good infrastructure and weather here.

The fees for the odd semester for a day scholar of general category is 84500 INR which includes tution fee of 62500 and other charges of 22000.For Sc/St/Pwd category it is 22000.For students whose family annual income is less than 1 lakhs it is also 22000.For those whose family income is between 1 lakh and 5 lakh it is 42840 and for all others it is 84500. For even semester it is 79500 for day scholar of general category.For Sc/St/pwd/less than 1 lakh family income it is 17k and for those whoe family income is in range 1lakh to 5lakh it is 37840.
