NIT Jalandhar, Jalandhar Comparison

Without any second thoughts, go for CSE at NIT Jalandhar. Here are some strong points to support my opinion. 

• NIT Jalandhar has a vast IT park on its campus
• NITJ Jalandhar promotes startup culture and has also made an incubation hub for the same.
• NIT Jalandhar has better placements than NIT Hamirpur.
• NIT Jalandhar has a good location and is in close proximity to Chandigarh. This makes it possible for students who want to prepare for civil services and GATE. 
• More companies visit NIT Jalandhar than NIT Hamirpur. 

Unless you are a nature lover and want a peaceful and serene experience at Hamirpur, it’s better to go to NIT Jalandhar.

First, I would like you to address your branch preference. Choosing a branch should be the top most priority. CSE and ECE are quite different from one another. Although IITs/IIITs/NITs do offer a branch change option, it is quite difficult to get it. So I would suggest you make up your mind on which branch truly interests you.

Now coming to the colleges. Choose IIIT Jabalpur for a CSE branch. This is because IIITs offer good placements, curriculum and culture in this branch. Even IIIT Kancheepuram is a good option for CSE. But the distance from home and food form an integral part of this decision-making. Assuming you aren’t from South India, the lifestyle and eating habits might be difficult to adapt to. As far as NIT Hamirpur and NIT Jalandhar are concerned, choose them if you are planning for an ECE degree. They are good colleges as well. 

First prioritize your branch and then choose your college among these four. I won’t suggest you go by college rankings. Basically, choose your branch first and then decide the best college for yourself.

Both NITs, NIT Jalandhar and NIT Hamirpur have similar rankings although NIT Jalandhar has a slight advantage in terms of location. Here are the key differences between these colleges

• Jalandhar has better connectivity than Hamirpur so it's easier for MNCs to reach college. NIT Hamirpur is also located in a secluded yet serene location away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
• NIT Hamirpur has better hostel facilities than NIT Jalandhar and many other NITs.
• Industrial exposure is more at NIT Jalandhar. 
• Lastly, the comparison of the ECE branch placements at both the institutes is tabulated below

Ultimately the final decision is your to make based on your interests and goals.

The choice of the branch is more important than choosing the institute because it determines and shapes your career. If you are interested in working in a PSU or have an interest in Electronics, choose ECE but if you have no such inclinations choose CS, the most diverse field. There are two main differences between IIITs and NITs

• IIITs are relatively new and may not have a very extensive alumni network while NITs are aged old and have an elaborate network.
• NITs provide diverse specialization in various fields while IIITs only focus on Computer Science education. 

Based on the placement scenario and the academics, here is the preference order I would suggest you follow while making your choice

NIT Jalandhar CSE>IIIT Jabalpur CSE>NIT Raipur CSE>NIT Kurukshetra ECE>NIT Hamirpur ECE> NIT Jamshedpur ECE

The ‘best’ colleges among NIT Jalandhar, NIT Kurukshetra, MNIT Jaipur, and NIT Silchar can be evaluated by ranking these colleges on the basis of placements and official rankings.

Based on the above table, NIT Kurukshetra seems to offer the best packages. The preference order can be - NIT Kurukshetra>MNIT Jaipur>NIT Silchar>NIT Jalandhar

Coming to the hostel facilities, NIT Kurukshetra has more advanced hostel facilities. NIT Jaipur too has decent hostels and has an incredible life outside campus owing to its location. 

Overall, I would recommend you follow the following preference order

NIT Kurukshetra>MNIT Jaipur>NIT Jalandhar >NIT Silchar

Pursuing CSE from any Tier-1 college will be very beneficial for your career as it’s one of the most coveted branches today. 

NIT Jalandhar all three branches CSE, IT, and ECE are the top ones with excellent placements. These branches offer excellent job opportunities irrespective of the fact that you know how to code or not. Students of these branches are placed in companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Samsung, Flipkart, Paytm, and even Google. Additionally, a 6-month internship program in the 8th semester is offered wherein you can intern in any company (off-campus or on-campus) and earn while being a student.

So, you can put your worries to rest if you are only concerned about placements.
