The college has opportunities of scholarships for students have family income less than 10 lakhs and the college is great helper in these cases
Computer engineering students enjoy excellent placement opportunities, whereas for other branch students, there are fewer companies specifically in the core biotechnology sector.
The campus infrastructure is one of the best thing, it's pretty, filled with beautiful buildings, comfortable classes fully air conditioned, greenery all around sports complex running lanes, during winters and autumn the weather is so pleasant here.

Dislikes

I understand that there is a placement cell available here, but recently, the placements have not been very good.
Some teachers are not good at teaching and problem here to to find a rrsouce to study the topic
Fees is very high here which is the worst part here .

Detailed review on TIET Thapar University

Likes

The teachers are very supportive , helpful, understand all have 20+ experience and are highly professional
The college have a lots of clubs , shorts and use to conduct inter - events within the college very frequently
This college is spread over 250+ aces of land in the royal city of punjab, the infrastructure is great and the labs are all computerised with all new and latest devices

Dislikes

You have to walk a lot daily to go from hostel to class

Placement Experience:

The placement for this college are best , as this college offers a lot for opportunities for the student in various niches , with a good package , as per the market standards. The process and traning is so smooth from the college side that many students avail for the opportunity for the placements. There are alot of company who visit and selects students from this college

Life at thapar university

Likes

Social life at thapar is very fun. Infrastructure and availability of equipments is high.
Some faculties are very interactive. They provide chances to work on projects and research papers
Course curriculum is good for personal development as there are courses that are mainly focussed on social skills

Dislikes

Attendance criteria can be very stressful as the main focus is on cgpa
There are a large no of students in thapar like around 1000 in a single branch which kind of is very unfair as it leads to a huge competition
Too much drugs and alcoholic habits. Really impacts a child’s mental health

Placement Experience:

After 6th semester student gets eligible to sit for placement tests. A lot of companies visit thapar but lately the placement tests are getting limited to computer related branches with high cgpa demands. If campus placement is not provided i will apply for off campus placements but i will do sit for on campus placement. Due to recession the placements have dropped to 50% but was higher earlier

Likes

Boys to girls ratio is 2 is to 1 and its is very good
There are many hangout places inside Thapar
There are many society events in the THAPAR

Dislikes

There is nothing to be disliked about this college.

Placement Experience:

Placements here are great . Highest package goes around 55-60 lacs inside campus and off campus it even goes in crores. Thapar placements are great with apple , goldman sachs , blackrock, etc . approach students from this college

Exposure to many cultures and clubs present in the collage
The Infrastructure of the collage and hostel and exceptional
Many placement opportunities are present for the final and pre final year student

Dislikes

The amount of students present in a single batch of Computer Science or related subjects, makes the competition for placement and scholarship challenging
The quality of the food is fine but can be improved on

Placement Experience:

The placement of the collage are fairly well and provide respected packages for the students which get placed during the placement season of the collage. Every Year almost 70 to 75 percent students get placed from our collage

Everything you should know before taking admission in Thapar Institute of engineering and technology

The faculty in Thapar University is highly qualified many of them being IITians. The faculty is very helpful and knowledgeable. Teaching quality may differ from teacher to teacher but the have a vast knowledge about the course they teach.
The course has majorly everything that can make a student industry ready.The semester exams are quite manageable if prepare on regular basis.
The infrastructure is very good and very modern.The building are very well built with facilities such as numerous labs with computers with required specifications as per the course, excellent Wi-Fi,aur conditioned classrooms and a world class library

Dislikes

The faculty is very knowledgeable but sometimes it depends from teacher to teacher how well they teach and are able to make the students understand the concepts.
There is a minimum 75 percent attendance criteria which can be a bit frustrating as when a student want to explore on its own.
The distance between boys hostel and classes is long walk . Even though E-rickshaws are present it is a problem faced by many.

This year final for final year students around hundred companies have already visited the campus and around 80 percent of the students have been placed. Highest package was around 55 lakhs per annum and lowest being around 5 lakhs per annum. The average package is around 10 lakhs per annum.Top recruiters being JPMC and Barclays among many others. Around 20 percent of the students got interned and the companies were JPMC, Barclays, Salesforce, Sprinkle, American Express and many others.The roles offered were Software Developer and Data analyst. It is advisable to keep the cgpa atleast above 7 to be able to sit in placements.

Academic excellence and beyond

Likes

The professors are so good and friendly and also very well qualified
The marking system is on the basis of average by which all the students are able to score good where as it is also a negative but overall it benefits all students
The placement rates and average packages are so good

Dislikes

The fee structure is really very much that is not affordable for everyone
Classes at 8 am should not be there in winters
The hostel food is so expensive but not worth it

Placement Experience:

In third year their are summer internships opportunities and in 4th years the placements for stude Get started. There is a chance of getting placed in 3rd year but a rare more a summer internship is expected where as in 4th year that is in 7th semester students get their placements on campus as no of good companies start visiting the campus and the placement rated are really good and even increasing. The highest package last year that is 2023 was of approximately INR 55.75 lakh per annum while average package was around INR 11.9 Lakh per annum. The average varies slightle from 13-15 LPA. The university's placement rate consistently remains high typically around 90 percent each year. Top recruiting companies include microsoft, apple, jp morgan chase, amazon, flipkart, providing roles in software development, data analysis and consulting and more.

Very Good gender ratio . Almost 40:60 ratio which is very goood
Very good campus . It's a very lush green campus
There is everything available in the campus . You have everything available in the campus to eat

The connectivity of trains from patiala is not good

The placements of the college is also very good. Average placement of the college is approx 12 lakhs for Computer science and around 10 lakhs for Btech. The college invites numerous amount of companies which offer good packages . Every branch of the college gets good placement offers and companies come for almost all the branches

Likes

The infrastructure and sports facility along with management is quite impressive as it is very old college the system is quite stable
Ratio is around 40:60 40 girls which is quite good according to enginee Colleges

Dislikes

There is too much of crown which makes events and normal shops very crowded also the pda is a major factor here

Placement Experience:

The placement this year is quite impressive we have 1.23 cr of highest package and 2 student got it the average is around 16 lakh of college the computer branches and electronic branches are quite well but I'll suggest to reconsider your decision to come in core or bio tech branches here consider going to some low college instead thapar core

Thapar's comprehensive review by a fresher

The campus is pretty big and provides many places for us to visit with our friends. The campus is not over crowded and does not feel like some other congested colleges like VIT. And the staff is very supportive and is very polite.
The gender ratio is pretty good for an engineering college. You will find 4 girls for every 6 or 7 boys. The college is pretty safe for girls as there are trustworthy guards at every corner.
The seniors are pretty nice. There is no scene of ragging or any kind of bullying. The seniors (frosh society) are very helpful, they are always ready to guide us throughout our fresher years.

Dislikes

The fee is little high, like they can charge less or provide scholarships from first semester onwards, even though loan facilities are available, less fee would make this a great choice.
The hostel in time is pretty frustrating, like why cant we roam in campus or sit inside the library and study at night?
The first year hostels for boys are not that great. They are really old and needs renovation. But hostels from 2nd year and onwards are very good.

Placement Experience:

Placemmets are good. The avg package of computer science is around 16 17 lakh. The max package is around 1cr. They have certain programs from 1st year onwards to make us more employable and placemnet ready. My plans after getting a degree are not yet finalised but i wanna work as Software developer in a good well known mnc. I wanna work hard on my skills and develop a decent knowledge base.

Thapar University has a brand name, however, the ground reality for this university is not very pleasant and it is swiftly losing the qualities that defined it in its glorious past. The rankings of students enrolled in the university are going down each year. The administration is taking serious measures against the same, however, because of these measures the other students are suffering. One example is the strict entry and exit timings.

Academically, your experience in this institution will differ according to your branch. The CSE branch has a cooperative faculty and lenient attendance criteria. This is not the case for other branches. In other branches, some faculty members may hold personal grudges against you while some may fail you for missing the required attendance mark (75%) by as small as 0.1%. The mess is below average and the classrooms are not very impressive. The administration is very slow.

However, there are positive points about Thapar University as well. The alumni from Thapar are placed in some of the best companies in India and abroad. It has some of the best synthetic courts in any engineering college in India. There are many teachers at Thapar University who serve as a source of inspiration to their students. Sports facilities for all the major sports are great. Placements at Thapar University are great and the labs are well updated. Even though Thapar is facing a drug problem, its teachers and administration are very active in trying to solve this issue.

Thus, even though Thapar University has outlived its glorious days, it has some positive points too. It is completely your choice whether or not you wish to take admission into it.

Thapar University has better placements than most private colleges and NITs. But the problem is, placements here directly depend on the grades of the students, and only the serious ones who work hard to build their profile bag the best packages.

Now the reviews of students are mixed because not everyone invests the same efforts and bags high packages. The people giving bad reviews are the ones who did not build their resumes well.

The best thing about Thapar University is the level of freedom you get to experience here. However, the increasing intake is slowly deteriorating the student quality so you might want to consider this before joining.
